Safeway: $49 Worth of Groceries Delivered for $29

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

If you live near a Safeway store that offers home delivery of groceries, you may want to check out this offer! Through June 27th, ShopAtHome.com is offering up $20 cash back when you place an order to have your groceries delivered from Safeway. Plus, if it’s your first-time to order groceries from Safeway, you’ll snag FREE delivery (a $6.95 value!) with the code EASY7 at checkout. Keep in mind that you are required to order a minimum of $49 worth of groceries to qualify for home delivery. And Safeway will accept digital coupons for online deliveries (simply select and load them onto your Club Card and receive the savings automatically).

At first glance, this may not seem like a great deal; however, consider stocking up on $49 worth of produce and meat & poultry products (items that typically do not have coupons). With the $20 cash back through ShopAtHome.com, you can pay as little as $29 for $49 worth of meat and produce (that’s a 41% savings!).

Hi Collin! Great idea! I’m just trying to figure out if I can still do it when we only have VONS in our area, instead of an actual Safeway. I know it’s pretty much the same thing, but I’m not so sure I can still order.

I’ve used this service before (when they offered the free delivery to first-timers) and it was awesome! ***Make sure you check out their online BOGO deals – you can get incredible savings. I scored two, 72-ct Mom To Mom Scented Soft Wipes and six packages of 10-count Energizer Max AA Batteries for a total OOP of just 3.64!!!! (this was a year ago but they usually offer lots of great online bogo’s). Just make sure that if you order before a Tuesday, you schedule your delivery before that same Tuesday; Safeway’s week is Wed-Tuesday so any online deals will have expired if your order is scheduled to arrive after that week’s published deal (I found that out the hard way, but they made an exception for me because it was my first time and I didn’t realize their ordering system worked that way).

Nuts not offered in my area!

A bit off topic, but I found grocery delivery to be incredibly worthwhile. I used to go through Peapod, which accepts coupons (and doubles them if the local store does) and actually wound up spending less on groceries because I could plan ahead, and there were never any ‘mix ups’ at the register. For anyone who thinks it might be too expensive, give it a try. Often you can save way more than the cost of delivery through coupons.

If anyone knows of a grocery delivery service that delivers to the Cleveland area let me know!!!

I’m having problems registering for Safeway’s delivery online. Their web site just had an error. Geesh. I’ll have to wait until I go home to try again there.

I know a lot of people had a super experience with this deal, but I wasn’t so pleased. I bought BOGO meat and they chose very different sizes, so I was buying a much larger piece of meat than the one I got free. When I complained (nicely), they basically said, too bad.

    • Kristin

oops…didn’t mean to say “this deal”. It was a previous one, obviously.

    • Denise

Similar thing happened to me with the BOGO meat last time. I was overcharged because the person messed up with my BOGO order and they never reimbursed me 🙁

  7. Brooke

does this work for vons too?

  8. JenL

I did this deal with Vons last time they had it and Shop at Home never credited my account and never returned my emails when I inquired about it. 🙁

    • Sarah

Post something on their Facebook wall. They didn’t credit me correctly for something and didn’t respond to emails so since they have no phone # on their website I posted on their FB wall. My account was credited by the end of the day. That is the only way to get some company’s attention anymore.

I wish my Randalls/Safeway delivered but they do not. 🙁
    Awesome deal though.

Boo. No delivery in my area. Having a 3 year old and a 3 month old, it would have been awesome to stay home from the store this week 🙂

Just looked through the online store.. the prices are very high! Even higher than in my local store it seems. Not worth it to me.

  12. Melissa

NO SAFEWAY here in upstate NY…..

  13. erica

Are you sure the free shipping doesn’t invalidate the cashback? most say “not valid for cash back orders”

  14. melissa

we only have vons here and yesit works for vons since they are the exact same store. ive done this several times. also im looking at shop at home and right now its only saying 13.00 cash back not 20.00

  15. Libby

The fine print on the Shopathome.com says that the $20 is only offered to first time customers.

    • cjs

Thanks Libby! I was just about to start browsing the site…saved me some time! (And, I have had LOTS of problems with not getting my cashback from Shop At Home, so I haven’t used them since October…..my last order was in October, and my cashback FINALLY came in April after multiple phone calls.) Glad others are having better luck.
