..and some areas did not get the Twizzler coupon at all 🙁
yepp, didn’t get it here in Oklahoma
🙁
I’m eating Twizzlers right as I’m reading this! Apparently I’m one of those Twizzler addicts. 🙂 Thanks for the post.
I don’t know what is wrong with our newspapers, but it has been about three months since we’ve stopped getting the Proctor & Gamble, and it’s been almost a month since we’ve stopped getting any inserts at all. My local newspapers are the Sun Herald and the Mississippi Press. I’ve absolutely given up on even going and checking to see if there are any inserts. My ability to get in on any deals or sales down here have just gone absolutely downhill. I’ve taken to ordering all my coupons from a clipping service, and by the time the coupons get here other people have cleared the deals out and cleared the shelves. The shelves in my area, in all the stores, are constantly empty. (I live near Pascagoula, MS). It is very sad 🙁
wow I live in south Mississippi too and the Sun Herald is my paper but I have never had a problem with not receiving my inserts. Have you considered looking a week forward at the sales and ordering your coupons then so you are ready? Sites like Iheartwags.com Iheartriteaid.com and iheartcvs.com have at least the 2 next weeks sale ads usually.
I live over in Jackson county. Maybe they aren’t putting the inserts in our papers? I usually get the papers at the little Jerry Lee’s grocery store, but even when we go get them out of boxes or at other grocery stores or Wal Mart, there are no inserts. Maybe we need to go all the way over to Harrison county in order to get our inserts. It’s quite a drive, but it may be worth it.
I do preview ahead on deals and try to order ahead, but we always have the same problem – cleared shelves. I especially try to do this with the drugstores, but the drugstores are the WORST. Always cleared shelves, even the people who work at the drug stores have tried to help me out on it and the best they’ve been able to tell me is to get in line before the CVS opens (they said be there at least an hour before the store opens on Sunday morning) because they have many, many ladies who “camp out” and wait for the sales :-\
have you bought the biloxi paper? when I am there I get it they always have good coupons in it and it carries the P&G..
Is the Biloxi paper the Sun Herald? Because I get the Sun Herald, and that one doesn’t have the inserts in it. Maybe Jackson County just doesn’t rate inserts anymore. I even emailed the Sun Herald about it and I didn’t get any response.
will for sure have to get those free pens! I always seem to need pens… 😉
Also Little Debbies are all $1 (reg. price $1.50) each. Good saving for some snack! 🙂
The Twizzlers will be dangerous for me. mmmmmm
some of these items, I think, are regularly priced under a dollar at Walmart. Also, does DG double coupons? Im new to them. Thanks!
no, they don’t double.
Just thought I’d let everyone know that this week at Target you can get free Scotch Magic tape (on sale by the school supplies for .50 cents a roll) combine that with the target.com coupon for .50/one for free tape! Also Bic 10 pack pens are on sale for .50 cents also, combine that with the $1/two that is on coupons.com for TWO free packs of pens! There is also a Papermate coupon on target.com for $1/one, target has their 10 packs priced at $1 so that’s more free pens. Also target.com has a $1/Sharpies coupon which are currently $1.50 at Target- that’s a good steal too. My house is overflowing with school supplies which is so easy to donate 🙂 Thanks for the tips Collin!
The bic pens are also on sale at Target for .50 ! (In red, blue, and black). Since the $1/2 coupon is bricks , you can print two, making forty pens totally free!
OK, I tried 3 Dollar General stores this evening and none had the 20oz bags. Come to think of it, I don;t ever recall seeing a 20oz bag. I did have the cashier check one of the 17.6oz bags and it rang @ 1.15.
I’m sared to try this deal after what happened to me at the family Dollar. They would not let me a use $1 off coupon on a $1 item becouse of there coupon policy. I just reviewed Dollar General and it is exactly the same.
my dollar general is coupon friendly & i’ve gotten some great deals, paying only tax on a $1 item with a $1 coupon (manufacturor or internet). please don’t give up on dg due to your bad experience at fd — you can get some great deals at dg. 🙂
ps — i’m not affiliated with dg in any way, just a happy customer.
I went to Family Dollar on Thursday to buy their Ben Gay cream for $4.75 X 2.
I had 2 X $5 off coupons. I tried to buy another item for 50 cents, hoping I would get overage, but that didn’t work. So I just asked them to adjust the coupon to $4.75…AND THE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD GET IN TROUBLE FOR DOING THAT! I mean..what in the world???!!!??? So I said, “You would rather lose a sale than take my coupons, and she replied, “Well I don’t want to lose my job over doing that.” So I just walked next door to Food Lion and bought one for $4.99. I did call the District Manager for the Family Dollar and she said that they should have adjusted the coupon and asked if I would go back after she spoke to them. Sorry! Ya snooze, ya lose!
YMMV on the Bic pens at DG…the stores around here will not take printable coupons that make the item free…even if is a money-off type of coupon. They interpret their coupon policy that says they will not accept coupons that “are for free items, unless a purchase is required ” to mean that you can’t get it for free even with a dollar/cents off coupon. Ugh…
These stores arent the best in my neighborhood. They can keep all their “deals.”
Does anyone know if the $5 off $25 purchase at Dollar General is before or after manufacturer coupons? I have wanted to try this deal but wasn’t sure how it works.
before 🙂
…at least it worked that way in june. i got $25 worth of merch for $9.
on the “a full cup” forum, there is a dollar general worker who posts there and he mentioned if anyone had problems re: the 5/25 before coupons, to tell the cashier to see the june 2nd email from corporate. apparently some people had problems last month, and he is contacting corporate to ask them to send clarfication to their stores.
my dollar general is coupon friendly & i’ve gotten some great deals, paying only tax on a $1 item with a $1 coupon (manufacturor or internet). mine gives overage also; i’ve not received cash back, but the overage goes toward my other item(s).
Thanks so much. I will have to try it next time.
I have the same problem with my dollar general — they absolutely will NOT take coupons that end up making the item free, even if it is for a certain dollar amount off of the item. Very frustrating. After all, the merchant does get reimbursed for the coupon. Oh well, guess I’ll just take my business to a store that does honor my coupons…..
Just got back from DG. The pen coupon would not scan in their register so they would not take the coupon. This store is tooooo much trouble for the possible savings.
here is their coupon policy: https://www.dollargeneral.com/OurStores/Pages/CouponPolicy.aspx
on the customer service page, they state “Q. What is Dollar General’s coupon policy?
A. Dollar General is pleased to accept Manufacturer’s Coupons and Dollar General Store Coupons at any of our more than 9,000 stores. These coupons come from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, newspapers, magazines, print-at-home (internet), direct mail, product packaging, and in-store coupon boxes.”

hope this helps! 🙂
