Sent from reader, Suzana: My sister and I love to coupon together. We’re 16 and 11, and when we first found Hip2Save, we were intrigued by all the videos and watched them all in one night! In one of the Walmart videos, Collin was a “coupon fairy” and left a few Similac $5 coupons right under the product. We were shocked… especially since it was a money maker (the Similac was only $3.84)! We were inspired and now this is our favorite way to dispose of unused coupons… to spread them around to the community! I got the coupons from my Downy Unstoppables sample and headed to Walmart. We taped the coupon (and a note to email us if someone used it- no emails yet!) to the product. The best part was that when we got ready to leave, we swung by the aisle again and one product with its coupon had been taken! It was a great feeling and we felt like we had made a difference! 🙂

HAPPY FRIDAY! 😀

  3. Amanda C

    Absolutely adorable!

  4. Emily

That’s awesome! I like being a “coupon fairy” too, but I’ve always just left them without a note. Love the personal touch they included.

  5. Chris

Awwwww… and they are only 16 and 11… VERY Impressed :)))

  6. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome girls!! What a fun way to bond with your sister. I think we all love that feeling of hoping we helped someone else save. Good for you, girls!! 🙂

  7. Pamela

    How sweet!

  8. Rachelle

I love it! It feels so good when you are a coupon fairy and when you go back you see that someone used them. Helping others save money one coupon at a time haha

  9. Kate Miller

I love that they are so young and understanding the value of money-so many of our youth have lost that understanding.. Very proud of these young gals.. Way to go!!

  10. tanyetta

    That’s so SWEET!!!!!!

  11. NolaGirl

Glad to know the next generation of couponers has the right frame of mind. Hope the girls receive an extremely thankful e-mail soon.

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Congratulations girls, I think it is wonderful you are helping others! 🙂 Even if people dont respond, you are helping them. There are so many people hurting right now, I can just imagine the smile you would bring to someone’s face who has very little money and found a coupon you attached to an item, let’s say a food item to feed their family. 🙂 They should put you on that ridiculous extreme couponing show in order to demonstrate for others how couponing should be done!

  13. Liz

    That is so cute!

  14. Karen

You give me hope for this generation coming up. Yesterday I left several all coupons next to a sale on them. I knew I wouldn’t use them so why not pass them on and help others save. Great job.

  15. Dee

    how sweet is that!!!!

  16. Barb J

that is sweet. keep it up girls.

  17. cw

They should put these two outstanding girls on a coupon show to show the world how normal people coupon and help other!

  18. cw

    oops… others. 🙂

  19. Lola

Anyone else impressed with the amount of young people that are couponing.

  20. Toni

Very impressive from two young ladies! Just think of the amount of money they will save by time there my age!! 🙂

    Adorable notes too!!

  21. Steph

That’s very nice. I leave coupons I don’t need all over the store. It’s a nice way to share.

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The girls are very thoughtful BUT I as a mom of young preteens and teens do not think it is wise in this day and age for young girls to leave their email address for strangers. I would STRONGLY encourage these girls not to do that and/or notify their parents. Too many bad things happen to trusting young kids (boys or girls). The world is not a safe place.

    • SAMM

I dont think you have to worry about someone buying downy…. beer yes…

      • MommySpendsLess

What if the evil beer drinkers accidentally wander into the laundry aisle?! I know nobody who occasionally sips an adult beverage also wears and cleans clothes but they could be too drunk to realize what part of the store they’re in!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It looks to me as though that is an email they set up strictly for coupon fairy replies. I wouldn’t stress an email as long as they follow other computer safety rules.

    • ML

I don’t think they are planning on having a “relationship” with the people they leave coupons for. They just want to see how many coupons are actually used 🙂 I think it’s great! If these girls are responsible enough to take the time to leave coupons and attach a little note to them, then I am sure they have been responsible enough to have talked it over with their parents already to get their “okay” on this.
      You go girls!!

    • Brianna

I believe Anna is just looking out for their well being. We don’t want the girls to get into the habit of giving out information. Better to be safe than sorry!

  23. Sonia

You have inspired me to leave coupons that I won’t be using next to the products at the store next time I go. Great idea and good job girls!

  24. Beth A.

I do something similar: while I’m waiting to check out, I check the cart of the person in front of me and if I have extra coupons for items they are buying, I share them.

  25. Krista

that is awesome. I love the paying it forward. I leave unused coupons on shelves, but normally the moneymakers. I will have to do that and brighten someone’s day ( :

  26. Heather

Sooo cute! Someone left some at the commissary for diapers and I so used them this week at cvs! The deal was better!

  27. Tina

Not only am I impressed with the good thing that these young women did, but am even MORE impressed with their writing skills! Nice vocabulary and technique ladies!

  28. Katie

I always leave my extra coupons, or the ones where the deal isn’t quite good enough to persuade me to buy the item. One of my shopping trips there was a late twenty’s mom with her 3 or 4 year old little one just a few steps behind me, how I loved hearing her cheer at finding my left behinds. 🙂

  29. joeywishtoo

How cooool!!!! It’s so neat to see such sweet & caring ladies!!!! 🙂

  30. Amanda

    So cute!

  31. Florencia

Awesome girls!!! Keep doing good things! 

  32. jody

That is awesome! I wish those girls lived in my city 😉

  33. Lisa

Good job girls! Spread around the coupon love! 🙂

  34. Joanie

Good jobs girl, totally adorable and helpful.

  35. Bridget

Grat work girs, it is so good to see young people with at awareness of the value of money and such good hearts.
Ever heard of coupon karma? I hope your goodness is returned to you several times over.

  36. Karin

    Awww, that’s so sweet! 🙂

  37. Deb

Suzana–You and your sister are AWESOME!!! Way to go! 🙂

  38. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

What amazing young ladies! You guys rock!!

  39. Bee

I love the stories about young couponers! The folks I work with (older than these young ladies by decades) are too “cool” to use coupons and it’s great when young people are wise beyond their years.

  40. Nel

There should be a show about their “Extreme” kindness!!! Love it!!!

  41. Jen @ MyPotpourriWorld

That is too cute! I love it! 🙂

  42. Laura

I am only 14 and have been couponing with my sister since we were just 12 and 8. I think it is just awesome that other young people are actually getting up from their tvs, computers, phones, ect. and helping out their families by saving them money. You guys are awesome!! 🙂

  43. Casey

I love leaving coupons for other people to use. I do it just about every time I shop. Someone else at my local Walmart started doing it, too. I love it!

  44. Brianna S

That is so sweet! I love doing that when I am shopping especially if I see someone in the same aisle looking at something. Once I left some Milo’s coupons for the lady in the aisle or gave some softsoap coupons to a couple looking at handsoaps. It’s always fun as it is a nice way to pass it forward especially when I’m not going to use it.

    • ginger p

Milo’s as in the tea? Where did you come across those coupons? We drink that stuff all the time & I’ve never seen one. Please fill me in!!!

  45. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I do this too! While recently waiting for my hubby outside of the Apple Store I went into the Coach store and shared a coupon for $100 off a $300 dollar purchase! Although the woman was lucky to be purchasing a new bag she almost shed a tear when I gave her the coupon.

    • christina

That is extremely kind of you. Maybe she saved for a really really long time and you were meant to be there and give her that, just as she finally had the money. or she may have just helped someone and settled for not the one she planned for. I am a big believer in karma, and that when you help others with no expectations of return or recognition it comes back when you need it when your least expecting it. It will circle to you, and must always be passed again. (ohhhhh my, I have swype on my phone, lucky I read because passed is coming up a bad p word!!! Technology, I guess I should stick to computer) thanks for your comment, it was nice to read that too:)

  46. mary martin

    you my ladies rock!!!

  47. Annie~Savor This Moment

They sound adorable! My kids have gotten into couponing with me, and they love being the coupon fairy, too. Keep up the good work, girls!

  48. Tory

I have benefited from the coupon fairy a time or two before! I think that is the kindest thing you can do and doesn’t it make your day when you find one! Great job!

  49. kristi

    This is just another idea…
Leave your coupons attached with a scripture. There are so many people hurting in our world today and I know that coupons help so much, God blessed me with the oppertunity to learn couponing at church function that I went to during the Christmas holiday last year. I found that I have been able to share Christ through my couponing.

  50. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

These young ladies are just wonderful. And Krisiti, I love that idea. That would be a blessing to me if I came across it!
