Wow- who knew Collin’s link for cheap baby products would be so controversial? I’ve posted above, but I would love to hear feedback from others- how do you all reconcile the fact that allowable PPM (parts per million) of many, many known carcinogens (aka- genotoxic impurities) are found in virtually all OTC & prescribed drugs?

    • Caitlin

I personally think that it’s really sad that these chemicals are in products many need to live. I personally take no medications, unless I am suffering from headaches, and I may take a single pill once every month or so. It is scary that these ingredients are allowed in our food, household products, toiletries, and medicine, just because the government does not properly regulate them. I am honestly quite sick of people just thinking “oh, if the government does this for me, I know it’s safe.” No, these companies are making tons of money off of these products. It is up to us, the buyers, whether or not we want to purchase them. The FDA and USDA obviously do not care enough about our well-being to regulate these ingredients as well as other countries are doing. That makes me incredibly sad!

    • sashagrace

Well, I’m just learning about a lot of this stuff, so I haven’t really had a chance to “reconcile” anything yet, not without doing some research first.

I don’t take any drugs regularly — OTC or prescription — and I’ll look more closely at the rare one I do take for a headache or something. I know I’m luckier than most in that respect, though; many don’t have a choice. I also know exposure over time is a factor, and I’m sure that varies wildly depending on the product. Gaah. So many consideration!

I appreciate the thoughtful question, and I’ll keep this info in mind as I shop and consume. It’s all about being an informed consumer and managing your money based on what matters to you. Thank you!

    • Shannon

The compounds in OTC & prescribed medications would not be listed so no great way to inspect what we’re taking. Also, while it may be sad that these chemicals are in drugs we take, there are simply byproducts of natural drug production process (i.e.- drug synthesis from suubstrates & immediate compounds made along the way/ compounds made in our own bodies as we process drugs), not necessarily additives. Fact of the matter is- the allowable PPM or PPB of certain known gentox impurities are found in tap water even. And it always reschocks me every time I hear the fact that the air in our homes is generally more polluted than the air outside. It will be interesting to see how the healthy & beauty industry under the umbrella of the FDA changes over the next 20 years or so.

    • lori

my daughter gave me a very helpful website for answers to some of these questions. it is ewg.org/skindeep but i must say…get ready to be surprised at how many not so good things are in some products. i’m old but if you are young and planning a pregnancy it is something to educate yourself about. geez..so many more difficult things to consider than when i raised my family.

      • Christina Hyatt

I have seen that website listed a lot, and checked it out. Keep in mind though, that with the rating there is an additional rating on the amount of study that has gone into the numerical rating. Some of these products with a high numerical rating are just suspected or have very limited studies backing the claim. So don’t go crazy if you are using a product that falls into this category. But it is great to have a compilation of studies and breakdown the safety for those products proven safe or dangerous all in one place. Looking at labels and keeping up on all of these articles can be a big task.

  2. Kit

So…what shampoo and body wash should I buy for my baby? Anyone have the name of a GOOD product?

    • Amanda

California Baby is great. While it’s a little expensive, it lasts a really long time. I don’t mind spending 9-10 dollars on a bottle, when it lasts all year. Target sometimes has it on sale or I use coupon codes and get it at drugstore.com.

    • Ap

I love baby bees by burt’s bees 🙂

    • Mandy

I like Babo Botanicals and California Baby.

    • Annette

Melaleuca. It is the only products that I use on my children and also for cleaning my home.

    • Samantha d

Arbonne baby!! Im surpised no ones mentioned it. All natural line, i know a great consultant if your interested in arbonne products. The diaper rash cream works amazing from them!

      • michelle

arbonne has parabins and lots of other preservatives that are not natural in it.

    • Paulina

I use Dr Bronner’s Magic soaps, I love them!!

  3. Liz

So what products do you use if you aren’t using J&J?

  4. Joanie

    Collin,

Thanks for the UPC THAT REALLY HELPS. Saves a trip to the store and gas money.

    • brieanna burke

what is the UPC for it?

  5. myranda b.

I would like to hear suggestions for a mom who doesn’t want to use these chemical filled products on her 3 girls, but does not have the financial means to buy better products. My husband brings home $1000/mo for our family of 5 and it goes out the same day for bills, we are left with nothing but credit cards (reaching their limits). Its hard to read, but when I can get J&J free and everything else cost so much, what am I to do?

    • Caitlin

Oh, I understand your plight! I am in the same boat, except my husband and I are both college students and work part time, and we have a little boy. I would love to send you some recipes for homemade eco friendly products if you’d like to email me! You can reach me at stuart912 at gmail dot com! 🙂

    • Laura

I make my own laundry detergent. It’s super easy, approximately 1 cent a load and a lot healthier for my family!

      • myranda b.

Does it work for an HE washer though? That is what kinds my parents have

        • Laura

I don’t have an HE, but I have read that it’s okay for HE. You can google homemade laundry detergent. There are many different “recipes” depending on if you want liquid or powder and various scents, etc… 🙂

    • sashagrace

Collin posted a soap.com voucher today and occasionally vouchers for Abe’s Market or Ecomom … those can pretty much halve the costs of the more expensive items (of course it depends on shipping too!). That might be something to consider. I’d be interested to know how others keep costs down too, and not necessarily just for baby products.

    • Deedee

Do not worry about the tiny amount of bad stuff in the products. I mean your kids are not eating it… You have to do what you have to do.

      • Caitlin

Wait, let me get this straight… it’s okay to use something with carcinogens, as long as you aren’t eating it? I guess tanning beds, smoking cigarettes, and chewing tobacco products are okay, too, then. Good to know.

      • bella

I use Baby Magic shampoo as body wash for myself. as far as i know, there arent any bad chemicals in it. it is about the same price [i think] as J&J

        • Paulina

Baby Magic is also on the same boat as J&J. Just different brand, all you have to do to make sure you aren’t using a bad product is to google their ingredients and voila.

    • rosie

J&Js “Naturals” line does not have the controversial chemicals in it. And, as far as I’ve read, its the classic baby shampoo (think what you used as a kid) that is the target of these concerns.

    • kathleen

      Myranda,

if you google home made cleaning products and body products you would be shocked at the things you have in your cupboards you can use. There are recipes to wash hair with baking powder and such. I use vinager to clean a lot of things, and putting it in your rinse cycle works as fabric softner (my son has skin problems and the doctor let us know this trick – and you are putting about 1/4 cup per load and it truly does not smell but does soften the clothes). I do feel for you. we have 5 kids, 3 are teens and a 3 year old, and I lost my job a few months back after having 2 surgeries and not being able to return to work after 12 weeks medical leave without any restictions (i even worked in the healthcare field for 8 years), my husbands work is always super slow from november to feb. and that in the past has already been very tough months, so now it is scary. We lost our health insurance when I lost my job, and can only afford the kids policies. Hang in there!

      • Missy

I use vinegar as a rinse for my hair, but I had no idea you could use it as a clothes softener! I have a lot of skin issues myself, I’ll have to try that out. Thanks Kathleen!

(I love reading these forums, I find out the best stuff!)

    • michelle

whole foods carries a line called 365 that has cheaper (less than california baby) and they work great!

  6. Joanie

I need help: anyone have gift wrapping ideas to put together teachers gift. First aid kits, toothpaste, floss, lip gloss, hand sanitier, toothbrush. Is that okay as one gift set or too cheap? Also, got coffee at world market- what should I match it with?
Any other ideas for all the things from coupons that wonderful couponers are putting together?

    • sashagrace

Joanie, Collin posted some good deals on holiday travel mugs from Kohl’s the other day. One of those might pair well with the coffee!

      • sashagrace

And I’m not a teacher, but other than the occasional spinbrush from my parents in my stocking, I’ve never received oral hygiene products as a gift.

Maybe I’m alone in that or being paranoid, and if so, just ignore me, but you might want to find a cute way to make sure the teacher doesn’t think you’re trying to drop a hint or something 🙂

Your gifts are such a thoughtful gesture!

        • AmyJ

I was thinking along the same lines, Sasha. So you’re not alone! I found the items a little strange to give to a teacher. On the other hand, if the teacher is a coffee fan—the coffee with a reuseable/travel coffee cup would be nice.

          • Jodi

I don’t think I would include toothpaste and floss, but items she could use at work like Wisp disposable brushes or Listerine Pocketpaks might work. We get those for free also. I would include just things she could keep in her desk, such as a special pen, the lipgloss and hand sanitizer, a hand cream, etc.

    • Rachel

You could use small cellophane bags you can get at the $1.00 store or party stores. They come in all designs & colors! That’s what I use & I tie them off with curly ribbon & I put the gift tag right on the bag! I think what you have for the teachers will be appreciated & if were me I would love to get things like that! An idea to go with the coffee could be an inexpensive coffee mug or travel coffee mug. Hope that helps! 🙂

      • April

I’m doing toothpaste, floss and toothbrush sets for little gifts and adding a tag that says “Hope 2012 brings you lots of SMILES”.

    • kathleen

Not sure about the toothpaste, floss, toothbrush, but I have gotten baskets from the dollar store and put lipgloss, handsanitizer, small travel size bubble bath or bath salts, a candle, a few pieces of nice individually wrapped or one large nice chocolate bar, tea/coffee: I printed on nice paper a little card that said “calgon take me away- stress relief basket: for the times when you need a small reprieve from life – take a nice bath, drink a warm cup of tea, take a bite of chocolate and remember what a wonderful difference you make everyday in life of so many children!”. Maybe you can incorporate something like that?

      • sashagrace

That’s really cute! And all stuff that we can usually buy with coupons. Seems like hand sanitizer would be really handy (hahaha I didn’t even mean to do that!) just to keep on a teacher’s desk. Just stuff that seems a little more indulgent (even if it doesn’t cost much) rather than pedestrian medicine-cabinet type things.

On the other hand, if you have a college kid with no money, a basket with more of the personal items would probably go over great, so he or she can spend their money on more important things…like books. Or beer. Whichever 😉

        • kirkege

I have ALWAYS given my kids dental hygiene products as stocking stuffers… i think they would ask me why i didn’t if i left it out. I have also always given them that favorite shampoo, body wash or whatever else “favorite” item they like. My daughter is married now and this year she and her husband are getting gift baskets instead of stockings with all the “freebies” and “cheapies” I have managed to stock up on!!! I think during the year they will greatly appreciate all these things!

          • kathleen

I am like you kirkege: my kids receive a new spinbrush in their stockings and other toiletries. I just wouldn’t give a toothbrush to a teacher. Last year I did however get a cute bathroom basket for my 16 and put a bunch of her favorite hair and body products in it I was able to get for next to nothing, since she complains her 12 year old sister uses “her” stuff up. She loved it, and it has stopped a lot of bickering, lol!

    • wendy

today at walgreens i bought 2 really nice stationary pads (.99) and a nice pen to put in my daughters teacher gift bag…hope that helps a little 🙂

    • michelle

give the teachers a gift card to somewhere(even if its only for 5 bucks). I hate it when people say its the thought that counts and the thought how can I get away with doing this as cheap as possible is all your thinking. Teachers invest so much time, love and even their own money into our kids. I think they need to be treated above and beyond for holidays.

      • LM

As a teacher, thank you for that comment. We really do put everything into the children and I am always so grateful for the parents that do something nice– and personalized (like I love coffee so something coffee related) or gift cards (like someone said even $5)…I can tell when I’ve been given something “regifted” without any thought. I don’t think parents have to spend a ton of money by any means but something that lets us know you appreciate us really helps us feel good! I’ve always been very lucky and blessed from my parents of students, if you have a GREAT teacher let him/her know it!

    • kw

the penzy spice deal for the teacher packs or the kind heart packs are what i am using — just search for them with the tool bar on hip2save’s site 🙂

  7. Susie

Anyone have the coupon that can’t use it? I will gladly take it off your hands 🙂

    • Jenn

      I must second that! 🙂

    • Ann Dee

Email me at anndee15@yahoo.com and I will send you one, Susie….since you were the first that asked….sorry wish I had more for Jenn and others who asked.

  8. Jenn

No more coupons 🙁 Thank you though it was a sweet deal!

  9. Gentle

OH my goodness. Nothing in this world is safe if you really think about it. There is NO such thing as organic and natural anymore. Think about it, if you say milk is organic, where did the cow get it’s food? Was the grass grown with rain? The acid rain everyone worries about? What about organic vegetables? Is the soil they are grown in truly safe and clean? Impossible. Everything in the world these days has been contaminated with something. One day coffee gives you cancer and the next it cures it. I think the stress of worry over everything will kill you faster than all these chemicals everyone insists is killing people.

    • Jennifer

I couldn’t agree with you more on that, and all they are doing is scaring everyone else. If you choose to use “organic” products well that’s your choice, but you don’t have to go and try and scare everyone else into thinking other products are bad.

    • Shannon

I second your thoughts & added some comments above about the fact that drugs we take- both OTC & Rx drugs- contain known gentoxic impurities as well. Sometimes, these impurities are just part of ingesting a product, breathing in our air, drinking water, etc. I really can appreciate your comment! 🙂

    • Lara

I partially agree with you that nothing is 100% safe but it is still important to find out what you are feeding your family and what the products you are using contain. Nothing can be 100% organic but you can get as close as possible. If someone gave you arsenic and told you to drink it vs. if someone gave you water with a drop of arsenic, I’m sure you would pick the lesser of two evils given a choice. It’s more about awareness than anything else. It’s people that make statements like yours that allow all these companies to continue to put crap in products….smh

      • Gentle

I take offense, Lara, to you saying that comments like mine allow companies to continue putting crap in products. First of all, you can in NO WAY hold anyone outside the chemists for that company responsible for what goes in them. Secondly, I AM aware of what’s in stuff. What I’m saying is that I WILL NOT worry myself sick over stuff like this and shorten my life or reduce my enjoyment of life by stressing about stuff that is in practically everything we use these days. I cannot quit using everything available because of fear that it will kill me. If I do that, then I also have to quit driving, quit eating, quit leaving my house-quit living basically. I choose NOT to let fear of these speculations control my life. And, if I wanted to play your game then I could also turn the tables on you and say that it’s people making comments like yours that are instilling an unnecessary fear in people. When you can show me that someone who worried their entire life and insisted on organic and natural stuff for everything they used, ate, etc, and lived a longer, happier life then I may change my point of view. In the meantime, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and decision so I would thank you not to make accusations about those who decide differently than you.

        • Lara

          Gentle,
You ASSUME that people who are genuinely interested in their health and the health of their families are worrying themselves sick and allowing things to control their lives. Idon’t let anything control my life. I live my life for God first and all others fall into place. I’m not worrying because I know what I need to feed my kids as opposed to what the government tells me it’s ok to feed my kids. “the little bit of arsenic is ok for your kids to drink…it’s not harmful…..we’ll use chloring to rinse off your meat so the e-coli will be minimal”. I stand by my earlier post because it IS comments like yours….the more people that jump of your bandwagon of “i’m not going to worry myself sick and those people worry themselves sick..” the less regulation there will be. You can flip the table all you want but my comments DO NOT and SHOULD NOT instill fear in anyone. All you have to do is be aware of what is going on and then the choice is yours….

And I can’t show you anything….you can show yourself. Again…educate yourself. Since the 1950’s when the food companies started adding un-natural items to our foods, how many incurable diseases have we encountered, how many more diabetes patients, how many more cancer patients, how many more heart attacks, how many more liver failures. I don’t need to show you anything because you will ignore them anyway! I choose to WORRY (as you so eloquently put it) about the people I love and what I put in their system.

          • KL

“the more people that jump of your bandwagon of “i’m not going to worry myself sick and those people worry themselves sick..” the less regulation there will be”.

“I know what I need to feed my kids as opposed to what the government tells me it’s ok to feed my kids.”

I’m just not sure how those two statements mesh. You want people to yell until the government fixes these… issues. But you also don’t want them to tell you what to feed your kids. In that case, should’t we quit regulating things and let everyone decide what they want, do their own research? Or should we regulate everything to the point that we don’t have to think for ourselves? We do need to be informed, but we can’t let a news article posted one day change what we eat/do. Find out how they came to the conclusion those things are dangerous, how it hurts the body, and how the studies were done. Then decide and let everyone else know. Many studies are put in the media to cause these very debates, way before scientists fully agree that enough work has been done to fully understand the issue. Sensationalism sells.

            • Lara

              KL,

I think my message is getting lost…what I mean is that I don’t depend on the government, media to tell me what to feed my kids, what products to use, etc. There are people that don’t do their research or as you said fall under media sensationalism because they trust that the people we put in office, will regulate things and therefore we can trust them. I’m saying what you are saying….do your research. of course I agree that there should be regulations because otherwise we’d probably be worse of.

          • Gentle

Wow, Lara, you are definitely on the attack. You’ve attacked my opinions, my education, and my abilities to take good care of my family. And, all because I had a differing opinion than yours. You continue to assume that because anyone feels differently than you that we’ve done no research and that we are to blame for what you feel to be the problem. For someone who “lives their life for God”, you are not a very nice person.

            • Lara

              Gentle,

I fail to see how I’ve attacked your opinions simply by stating mine. Neither have I attacked your education or your ability to take good care of your family. You asked me to show you proof of something and I challenged you to educate yourself, what’s wrong with that? I’m pretty sure I stated that you are free to make a choice of your own…. Being a God fearing person does not translate into not expressing myself. You may think I’m not a nice person but again…that’s your opinion. You don’t know me.

            • Gentle

              Lara,
You did NOT simply state your opinions. You accused me of contributing to this problem you seem to feel there is as if I could possibly have any influence whatsoever as to what goes into any products. Also, you have been very condescending to me and others by repeatedly telling us to “educate” ourselves as if we are uneducated since we have different opinions than yours. And, when I asked you to show me proof of something that was because if you are going to make statements such as you have and in the same breath say that we need to educate ourselves since we don’t agree with your “educated” opinion then the burden of proof lies with you to back up what you are stating. If you can’t back up what you are stating and/or are not willing to do so then you should not be on here making your statements. And, by stating that ‘you know what to feed your kids and don’t let the government tell you what to feed them, etc.” you are in turn saying that those of us who don’t agree with your opinions do NOT know how to take care of our families.
As for thinking you are not a nice person it is because your initial statement would have been fine had you not taken it to a personal level by throwing an accusation at me and claiming that I am the reason there are products out there that contain harmful ingredients. That was going too far and was rude. From there, anyone who disagreed with you, your replies continued to be rude.
No, I don’t know you but based on your comments here I don’t want to know you. I didn’t say that a God fearing person can’t express their opinions and feelings but a God fearing person doesn’t throw accusations or condemn others for having a differing opinion. A God fearing person is loving all the time. .

      • Missy

        Lara that’s a excellent example!

      • Janet

I am sorry Lara but that is an unfair comparison between drinking arsenic that can kill you on the spot and possible chemicals that may or may not damage your health over an unknown, if any, period of time from use of an unknown, if any, amount. You have an opinion but do not seem to respect that others also have one. I appreciate Collin posting this deal but also appreciate people have their own opinions about the ingredients in certain products. That is why you maybe you should have just ended your comment after sentence about awareness. We shouldn’t be attacking others like that.

        • Gentle

          Thank you, Janet.

          • Kate

Oh, boy… what a controversy some baby products have caused! Thanks for your sensible post. I agree, and I choose to live my life fearless and fancy free! The stress these people are giving themselves over these things will probably get to them before the carcinogens will. 😉

            • Lara

I’m not attacking anyone. Simply stating a point. I believe my comment about regarding “comments like this…. ” is along the same line as others saying that “stress will get to us before the chemicals do”. I think the first person that posted about these products having harmful chemicals was not intending on making anyone scared, but raise awareness. It was more of a did you know than anything else.

            • Gentle

Thank you, Kate, for being a reasonable person who understood the point of my post.

    • Marcie

Well Said. I was thinking the exact same thing.

  10. rebecca

    GOT IT!!!!!

  11. beatrice

I LOVE YOU, COLLIN!! Seriously though, it gets really exhausting when I think that a deal is fabulous and I want to view other opinions just to see if the deal is working in regions or if they are any prints left (there aren’t, but it’s ok!) and all I can find are controversial declarations of dangerous chemicals in everything! Apparently, I can’t use Carmex bc there’s “fiberglass” in there (false) and now I shouldn’t buy bath products because it has chemicals that causes cancer and I’ll be harming my baby. It’s Johnson&Johnson; it’s a credible, reliable brand and my entire family has been using it for ages and we’ve had no problems with cancer. So kudos to those that are always into organic and pure products–as long as it works for you, awesome! but for me, Johnson&Johnson is perfectly fine, and if prints come up for this coupon again, I would LOVE TO KNOW! Thanks!

    • babyrn

Thank you Beatrice! Well written! 🙂

      • Em

        I agree. =)

    • Corrie

Well said! I couldn’t agree more. I wanted to read the comments to see if the deal was working and was completely shocked to read all of this. Now I have to worry about the shampoo I am using for my baby???? sheesh.

  12. amanda

If anyone printed extra and would like to share I just fond out baby #2’s on the way today and this would be a wonderful item to stock up on :o) I could trade a coupon you need to 🙂

    • Laura

YAY! Congrats Amanda. That’s super exciting!!

      • amanda

Thanks so much my hubster doesn’t know yet he’s gone on a military training trip so I’m hoping to buy some baby stuff this week and ‘suprise him ” when he gets home this weekend. I bought my son a “big brother ” shirt haha 🙂

        • Missy

Lol, that’s a awesome idea and a great surprise Congrats!!

    • Liana

Amanda, email me your address and I will send you the one I printed out.
No target near me sells these. I would love to know it went to good use.

Thank you! I sent you an email! Let me know what ones you can use and I’ll send you some to! 🙂

    • Megan

Hey Amanda! I can print 2 -4 for ya:) CONGRATS! Do you by any means having any John Frieda BOGO coupons to trade? If not thats all good!

  13. Jessica

Those of you who said you make your own non-toxic cleaning supplies, can you share how to do so? What ingredients, how much, etc. for things like all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, detergent, and whatever else we should be doing? I think more of us would do this if we knew how! Thanks 🙂

    • Kara

I make my own homemade dish detergent…2 cups of borax, 2 cups of baking soda, 4 packets of the sugar free lemonade koolaid. Mix, use 1 1/2 T. per load! Use vinegar for the rinse agent.

    • Paulina

VINEGAR is my All purpose cleaner! Just get a spray bottle and add about 1/4 vinegar and fill the rest with water, and there you go, you will be even able to kill mold with it! I use it to mop my floors (I have a baby in the house) to clean my surfaces, etc.
I will be using it on the washer now to soften my baby clothes! What a great tip, thank you so much! LOVE LOVE LOVE VINEGAR!

  14. Christine Fuselier

I just saw this and clicked on the “here” and there are no more prints for this offer.

  15. Rachel C.

Thank you SOOOOOO much, Collin! I was able to get the Bedtime & Regular Gift Sets for $1.49 each (in MI). I can’t believe it!! They will make awesome, simple Christmas gifts for the two boys I nanny that I really couldn’t afford gifts for. I just want to say how much I appreciate the work you do, and I absolutely LOVE getting deals like this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! You are amazing!

    • mkpassey

Where did you find them? I went to Target yesterday and didn’t see them anywhere!

    • Jacelyn

      Which store in Michigan?

  16. Ashley

I think the coupons are all gone!

  17. Amy

There are a ton of them at my Target in Northern VA!

  18. bethany

    all gone 🙁

  19. calhounscoupons

Just scored this deal! 1.49 for three products Awesome!! We have two computers so my hubby will be grabbing another one tomorrow when he goes out. I must say I had no idea that a Johnson’s baby product would be so controversial. I completely understand what people are saying but Colin is doing an amazing job posting the deals so let’s not bicker about things like that here. Everyone has their own thoughts and own personal choice and let’s leave it at that. Colin, I love your site. We live off my husbands income and are trying to save up money for children.. hopefully very soon. So please don’t change! I love seeing deals like this. Although now that I am stocking up on baby items it makes me want children even more! 🙂

Related to baby stuff I did have a question, seeing as I don’t have kids yet .. what is a reasonable price point for diapers and how many do you try to get for that price? I keep seeing deals with coupons and sales and all that but I really don’t know how to tell what is a good deal, and what is a great deal to really stock up on? Help please.

    • Missy

I usually aim for .15 cents a diaper. I have a hard time hitting that price point in stores (Without buying the higher value coupons on ebay, at least) so I do the amazon moms club. Luvs is the cheapest and it’s the brand that works best imo. Free shipping and 30% off…and I don’t have to leave the house.

    • abigail

If you can pay below .12 per diaper, it’s usually a good price in my book. Sometimes (if you’re lucky) you can find them cheaper. The Target deal last week was great for me because of the coupons I had. There were Target coupons for 2.00/1 Huggies. I had a 3.00/1, 1.50/1, and a FREE product coupon from Kimberly Clark. Buy three and get a 10.00 gift card and I used the spend 50.00 get a 10.00 gift card. I also paid with a 10.00 gift card from a previous transaction. I paid around 19.50 and got back 2 10.00 gift cards. The best thing to do is request all free diaper samples…they usually send high(er) value coupons than what we get in the inserts.

    • Mel

I’m expecting my first child in April. I started stocking up on diapers back in January since I knew we planned to have kids soon. I have been very fortunate to get diapers as low as 6 cents per diaper! I don’t buy diapers unless I can get them for 6-11 cents per diaper. That may seem low to some people, but for me since I know I’m going to have at least 3 baby showers, at this point I’m not worried about not having enough when the baby comes in April. For moms that have to have diapers now, 11-12 cents per diaper is good range to aim for! Target is a great place to save on diapers since you have use 1 manufacture coupon and 1 store coupon per item and they usually offer $5-$10 gift cards when you buy certain packs and quantities. So look for sales and deals to pair with coupons to maximize your savings!

      • calhounscoupons

Thanks so much everyone! It will really help to have a price point per diaper. Thanks!!!

        • Sarah

just keep in mind that as the sizes go up, you get less diapers per package and then your per diaper cost is going up. I have two in diapers right now – one is in size 5 and one is in size 2. Size 5s, I feel a good price is usually around 0.15-0.17 but with the size 2s, I have gotten them as low as .07. That is a really low price for me though (that I have been able to find). You will blow through diapers like nothing you have ever thought so it is great to start stocking up now 🙂

  20. Heather

My store was out of the J&J sets BUT i picked up 2 of the Aveno sets and they let me use the $3 off J&J coupon so i scored the Aveno sets for just $1.49 each =)

  21. tiph

SO bummed i didnt see this before i went to Target tonight. : ( Awesome deal. I love baby aveeno products.

  22. Tuesdae

Coupons are all gone. I’ve got a 9 month old daughter and we just opened our last bottle of baby wash from my baby shower. I would appreciate anyone that printed an extra coupon to email to me at tuesdae_torres@yahoo.com Thank you in advance! Money is SO extremely tight these days. With the loss of our home and having to find somewhere else to live before the bank takes our home back we are trying to penny pinch wherever we can. Happy Holidays!

    • Tuesdae

I am willing to do a trade! I have an Enfamil check and coupon that I can mail out. I’ve been successful of using both a check and coupon for 1 can of Enfamil.

    • Adepeju Adefi

I have about two Enfamil coupons I can give you and a couple of Pampers coupons. You can email me at aadefi1@yahoo.com if you want them. I don’t plan on using formula for my son (at least not in the beginning) and if he’s anything like his sister, he’ll waste it by not eating it anyway.

  23. Agnes

I just got back from Target and I searched EVERYWHERE for those sets and they didn’t have those! can someone please write where exactly you saw them? What dept?

    • Lysandra

found them n the baby dept on an end cap, hth!

    • joey

they were on the end cap of the potty training toilets…. 🙂

      • Agnes

Thanks Lysandra and Joey – i walked around tere twice like crazy woman , nothing , maybe they havent arrived yet, Im in IL

    • Abigail

One Target I went in didn’t have them. I looked everywhere. The next one I checked had them on an endcap in the baby section on the bottom 2 shelves with older kids’ bath gift sets (Cars bubbles for example). If I hadn’t actually been looking for them, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed them.

  24. Jessica

Anyone able to get this deal in VA?

  25. alleykat20

Does anyone have a UPC? I couldn’t find them at my store.

    • Jana

The set I got has the 15oz head-to-toe wash, 28oz Sweet Melon baby wash and 15oz baby lotion. UPC is 38137-1154241. I got mine in Weatherford, TX.

  26. Ruth

I also just got back from my Target and nothing I also looked everywhere …. 🙁 Does anyone have a upc on this item??

    • Jana

The set I got has the 15oz head-to-toe wash, 28oz Sweet Melon baby wash and 15oz baby lotion. UPC is 38137-1154241. I got mine in Weatherford, TX.

      • Ruth

        Thank you… Jana…

        • mkpassey

What does having the UPC do? Can you give it to a sales associate and they can see if they have any?

  27. Kara

Haha I think this about the 50th J&J debate I’ve seen in recent months….did you know disposable diapers contain the exact same ingredients but no one (except cloth diaperers) complains about that? It’s because disposable diaper companies are exempt from releasing the ingredients in their diaper. So people complain about something that touches their child’s skin about 15 seconds a day but are ok putting the same chemicals against their child’s body 24 hours a day for 3 years. I know some people have gone chemical free in diapers too which is awesome, but have you switched to all organic bedding and clothing? How about furniture that is only made with green methods, including strollers, carseats, etc? Clothing and furniture are laden with chemicals when you purchase them that can take months and years to leach off. Not judging those on either side of the debate, I’m all for all natural (we cloth diaper and do organic, home grown whenever possible) but I’ve just seen so many of these debates but people don’t realize they are freaking out about one thing but exposing their children to the same chemicals elsewhere.
Anyway, I went to two Targets, one had none the other had plenty! Got one J&J set and one Aveeno. Thanks so much for the deal and the coupon match up!

    • Sara E.

      I couldn’t agree with you more 🙂

    • mary

Do you have aveeno coupon or is there any printable coupon for that

    • Annadm

Well said! People are saying the chemicals cause cancer but so do the hormones in chicken(unless it’s organic) or oreos, or sugar substitutes, or food with preservatives!!

    • Em

      Totally agree !

    • kristen

well said. My parents used J&J products on me when I was a baby. I’m 29 now and live to tell the tale 🙂

    • Kristen Hotek

So according to your logic, it’s all or nothing? The was I see it is you can’t avoid exposing your kids to everything that’s harmful, but isn’t it better to at least do what you can within reason? Plus, these lotions and body washes don’t just “touch their skin for 15 seconds a day” they are ABSORBED.

      • Lara

Kristen…well said. This is exactly the point I tried to make earlier.

    • Brandy

People go overboard with protecting their kids and now there are more allergies to things than ever. And people thinking all germs are bad. Kids immune systems can’t handle a simple cold because of this.

Also in the same logic some people have letting your kid play in the sun is bad for their health because sun screen also absorbs into the skin while “protecting” it.

Can nit pick all day but in the end everyone should just use what they want and not make comments to others about their choices or parenting. It only won’t make people listen or change their minds .

Companies love these parents who will pay for overpriced items that claim to be better but really aren’t. I highly doubt the company would still be around if they were “poisoning” our children!

Having seen a 31yr old healthy non smoking woman die of lung cancer you put things in perspective!

      • Paulina

Brandy, germs are good, antibacterials like trisoclan are evil, the Sun is my friend, sunscreen is not. As well as all those products, no matter the brand that contain ingredients I cannot even pronounce, I choose to buy products made of organic ingredients I can recognize. There is much more to do to take care of your health, and I do what I can, with what I have, by prioritizing my family needs. And I have a healthy 17 month old (who is still breastfed by the way) who has never been sick with the exception for the one time he was badly teething (4 molars and 2 canines all at once) and he got diarrhea. That’s it, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

        • Brandy

Paulina I know germs are good I work in childcare and wish more kids were exposed to them. I have a very healthy 7 and 10 yr old. I love growing my own vegetables because I know what isn’t being added to make them bigger as some growers do. I still have green peppers and tomatoes on my plants now and can’t wait until they are ready to be picked. And I love making fresh bread instead of buying it all at the store. There are little things here and there we can do without it costing a fortune.

The teething will sometimes bring a small fever too but they get over that. Not really being sick but part of growing up. My daughter broke in all her teeth with not a cry but my son was torture that his hurt so much. I didn’t use meds but warm washcloths and let him chew on them to ease the pain.

  28. melissa

Gosh for so many people who are against this product and talk about how bad it is, the coupons all got printed! Bummer, I definitely would have bought one of these.

  29. Crystal

I just got to the computer to print them and their gone. 🙁 Sad!

  30. Lysandra

I got 4 of the aveeno sets (they didn’t have any of the J&J sets available), for whatever reason I could only print 1 qpon per computer but Im grateful because baby #3 is on the way! When I gave the cashier the qpon (which says J&J gift set) she wasn’t sure if she could take it, I told her Aveeno was part of the J&J family so she called the manager & the manager allowed it.

Thank you Collin for everything you do & I hope you have a merry xmas!

  31. Sarah

for anyone interested in researching chemicals in skin care, I recommend this website: https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ The Aveeno stuff gets pretty good reviews.

  32. Tangie

I so wanted in on this deal but as the old adage goes: I’m a day late and a dollar short because all the coupons are gone.

    • Kathy

      me too

  33. jennifer

    all out of prints 🙁

  34. Melissa h

My target didn’t have this either 🙁 in LC, NM

  35. dbsvbdjdv

    NLA. 🙁

  36. Sue

If anyone was able to print this coupon and isn’t going to use it, I would be extremely grateful to get one to use for my sister who is expecting. My email addy is lvnsmmr@yahoo.com Thanks!!!

  37. katie

sooo funny story. my friend is having a baby and i have been having this urge to get all the baby deals i find on here, but i thought it might be weird. so tonight i asked her if it would be weird, she said no. so i go on here to get this deal, and the coupons are all gone. and then i went to the other baby freebies post from a couple days ago and signed up for the free diaper bag thing… only to find out in the comments that they dont actually send it, you get it at the hospital or something. epic fail for me!! lol

    • angela

There are still a ton of baby freebies your friend would be lucky to have! I am having a baby in February and feel so much more prepared with this one than my first because of all the deals I have gotten from Colin’s Blog. I would love it if i had a friend give me lots of baby samples/deals she had gotten and I did that when my friend had a baby this spring.

  38. Virginia

There are also coupons for Aveeno from a past insert. They expire 12/31. There’s $3/2 and $1/1

  39. Carrie

Since the original one that Collin posted is gone, if you go to J&J website there is a $2 coupon which is I think still a make a pretty good deal. I am not 100% sure if it is the right product but it looks exactly the picture that Collin highlighted.

  40. Catalina Guerra

All out of prints 🙁 If anyone printed extras or aren’t able to use the ones they printed, i would love to have them for my little sister. She just had a baby last month and as with alot of people these days money is tight. Thanks!! guerra7109@yahoo.com

  41. Shannon J.

All I think about when I read this is all the things that I was exposed to as a child and I lived! Back then they didn’t have recalls and bans on things.

    • Shauna

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. We are all here and lived to complain about it apparently. 🙂
It is a coupon, every one has a right to use whatever product they want, I don’t get why people want to cause controversy over a posted deal.

      • Laura

I have to agree. the stuff they have recalls and bans on these days you would think humans would have been extinct by now. I mean, how did we all survive? I don’t recall fighting for my life on a daily basis as a kid….

  42. annette

I missed another good deal. I guess I cant print them fast enough. I like these kinds of things for the foster kids. Those poor kids sometimes have nothing, not even a pair of underwear. Stocking up on kids items is always on my coupon list, I dont have kids so I dont usually get the toys and products fast enough to get these deals. I really have to learn the mommy thought process faster to catch some of these good deals.
I did very well on my christmas shoeboxes, tons of the items came from my couponing,
toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, etc. starting for next year already.

  43. Aaron

    I can’t find the coupon!

  44. Debra

Johnson and Johnson has been around for years, I was raised on it, my kids are raised using it, I and they are all fine! Period, end of topic!

Now, can we please get back to couponing?

  45. tracy

Does anyone know of a large scale study that shows that children who use J&J products have higher rates of cancer? This reminds me of a study that came out a couple years ago saying that there is mercury in high fructose corn syrup. The mother of an autistic child I was working with was freaking out about it (some people believe autism may be caused by heavy medal poisoning) I actually looked up the study and it was saying that the amount in an entire bottle of hershey’s syrup was about the same as 10,000 cans of tuna. This study made national news but they did not mention that the amounts are so small. I would also mention vaccines but that is even more controversial.
I just like to see the study because media tends to sensationalize things just a tiny bit.

    • terri

If it wasn’t for the media, how else would most people find out about good or bad things? Certainly a company wouln’t notify you of all the bad things in their products. Media is a tool, use it to your advantage, for information that you can use to research and become more knowledgeable about a topic.

  46. Christie

I hate to think that anyone in an uproar about this actually printed them and aren’t going to use them since they’re out of prints. 🙁

  47. terri

“Slow Death by Rubber Duck” was an enlightening book for me.

  48. Laura

For those who would like to purchase these sets, the coupon has reset, I was just able to print one about two minutes ago.

  49. Tara

I just finished an article about arsenic and other Carcinogens in Motts Apple Juice, Welch’s and others. Unfortunately these cemicals are produced naturally/or in the processing system. Humans also produce trace amounts of arsenic in their bodies…Although I am not a fan of the FDA in any way, because they have there hands in the cookie jar, I do accept that even if i make my own juice, those chemicals are going to be present.

I am not a fan of taking many medications, but sometimes the benefits outway the risks. ANYTHING you eat contains something that MIGHT be harmful….Are we going to go crazy and not let our chidren do/eat anything because of the potential threat that is not proven to be harmful in independant studies??

We are not eating all organic like they did back in the 1800’s….they only lived to 30 maybe 40 years of age. We are now living to 60,70,80, and more….yes we have more diseases, illnesses and cancer but we are living much longer so something must be right in what our medical and pharmacudical companies are doing to keeping us living longer.

    Remember:

NATURAL DOESN’T MEAN SAFE! Tobacco is natural–not safe. marijuana is natural–not safe. Opium is a natural product–not safe.

Look at all the safety standards that are now in place! They were not around when i was young and grew up just fine. Sometimes people can make themselves sick and crazy trying to find 100% organic foods….it’s just not possible. Many Farms that claim to be organic are….until shipping. Then the shipping company sprays them with a chemical to hold the freshness…..is this organic? No! Do your best, but understand that it is not safe to worry yourself and withhold needed items from your children just because someone said…..

The internet is the worst place for research…..make sure it is a peer reviewed journal and has been replicated to show validity if you are truely serious about looking into these products. AND THE MEDIA only shows the RARE INCIDENCES of NEGATIVE events….compare that to the millions NOT affected……That would prove there is not a significance to the threat….

This should not be a place to agrue about products and to cause FEAR in others. This is a coupon website and Collin should not have to put up with this. We are adults, so respect what she is doing here….providing us great deals!!!

    Thanks Collin!

  50. Rachel

The coupon must have reset!!! I just printed one off! I think it has a limit of only one print tho! =)
