Thanks! This will be perfect to get a photo of my kids in their Easter outfits.

    • robyn

Exactly what I was thinking! Yay for Easter pics for free!

  2. megan

do you have to get them mounted/framed, or can i do that myself? thanks! we need a new family picture!

    • Betsy

The coupon says that it is just the print and does not include mounting or framing.

      • heather

i have done this several times at sears, the portrait comes unmounted – however i always find frames at hobby lobby.

  3. harita

do we need to pay taxes?thanks!

    • Kidsallgone

      ???!!!!!

  4. calhounscoupons

So you print the coupon/certificate, we sit down take a photo and then they print that photo on a 16×20 wall portrait.. is that how it works? seems to easy! haha Thanks Colin!

    • Dina

I don’t believe they print any pics there. I just had my daughters 1st bday pics done at Sears and they send out for them and that takes 10-14 days. It was an all around HORRIBLE experience as well. I wouldn’t do it if again if they paid me! 🙁

      • calhounscoupons

I’m totally fine if they send it out and we don’t get it that day, I was just more asking if they just take one picture for something like this or take several and let you choose which one to put on the portrait? Sorry you had such a bad experience 🙁

        • Dina

Oh I am sure they would take a bunch and let you choose. I had an offer for a free 10 x 14 or whatever it was and they took tons. However I didn’t give them the coupon until we were done, but I knew I was getting other pictures also so I didn’t mention it. After the shoot I was told online viewing has not been available for months (not true) and most of the pics had the underside of the background in the pic! And we were there 2 hours with a 1 years old and the shoot was only 10 minutes. Just sharing the short version of our horrible experience. 😉

      • Ali

I am with you Dina. I went to them once and vowed I would NEVER return. Even a free wall print would not entice me!

        • emilytwinmom

Saaaaaame here. I took two 3yr olds and an 11yr old, my children, and the photographer literally walked them into the room and said “ok, stand next to each other” took three shots of them not smiling, and showed me the proofs. It was so stupid, they don’t know how to compose a photo or get kids to smile? I wish the photo shop was better, I used to live near a wonderful one 🙁

    • Nikki

I hope its that easy! If so, I’m gonna get the family together for a picture!

      • heather

i have recieved this offer before, of course they want you to purchase other pictures but you are not obligated to do so.

i have been taking my kids every month from they day there were born until there first birthday. now i take most of them myself only go on birthdays to get the picture with the number.

i have had bad and good experience with them. their costumer service 800 number are always nice and helpful with any issues i may have had.

  5. Flor

Do we need to have it mount or frame? I can buy frames for cheaper price somewhere if I can walk away with just the picture.

  6. alexandraduma

Can I use my own picture or do I have to go there with my family and have our picture taken ?
    thank you

    • heather

the picture is only good for a photo taken in studio

  7. megan

when we did them about a year and a half ago, they took many pictures, then we chose the one we wanted. im planning on pairing it with the portrait package that is often advertised, so the huge picture and some smaller ones for 7.99-ish.

    • Dina

When you went did they let you combine offers? When I went they only allowed 1 offer! I had a free 10 x 14 or whatever it was and also a coupon for the 7.99 prints and a 40% off extras and they only allowed 1 offer total.

      • Alea

I’ve always been told you can only use one offer…

  8. Ali

I hope everyone has a good experience. Be forewarned that Sears will tack on fees if there is more than one person in the session. They will put the sales pitch on to try and sell you more and that’s okay, except thats when all the “sheet minimums” kick in. You can’t just buy one sheet. And this may have changed, but you have to wait for delivery. I lived too far from the sears studio to want to drive back and pick up 5 days later, so I paid a delivery fee. As long as you know what you are in for then give it a try! Oh and definitely make and appointment!

    • Laura

I assumed there was a “catch”. It make sense that they don’t just let you buy one sheet. It would be a waste of them for them.

      • Laura

Sorry, I meant to write waste of time for them.

    • Mika

Wait, so there can only be one person in the photo? Is that what you meant by “Be forewarned that Sears will tack on fees if there is more than one person in the session.”

      • heather

they have never charged me a session fee and i have taken all of my kids pictures.

j.c. pennys photo on the other hand has told me the sitting fee only covers one person.

i would assume session fee would cover any of the people in your picture, as how my local sears does it. if your unsure you can always call before hand not to waste a trip.

      • Ali

Mika – yes, see Kate’s comment below.

  9. J

I may have to just pass because my Sears store is closing

  10. Kate

We did a free print awhile back and had an overall good experience. The freebie was limited to one subject, and extra people were extra fees, which was fine as we just wanted a professional photo of the baby to give to Grandma. We had an appointment, they took about a dozen shots, we picked our favorite, and they had it ready for us in about a week. They did print out a bunch of other pictures and tried to guilt us into buying those as well, and I did feel a bit awkward saying I was just taking the free one. 🙂

    • heather

i guess that depends on who is the store manager, the store manager didnt charge me anything extra for my 3 kids in the picture.

maybe because i am a smile savers member

  11. calhounscoupons

I was going to take a photo with my husband but I am wondering how much the fees usually are for the extra person.. anyone know?

  12. Nikki

Just got off the phone with my local Sears Portrait. I told her there will be 4 of us in the photo and asked if I had to pay extra for the others and she said no. No extra fees, its totally free.

She also said, however, that I cannot pair the $7.99 package deal with it. Only because that coupon is good for only 1 person in the photo.

  13. neha

I just had been to sears portrait studio with the coupon for free multi image print, I was told that I had to purchase something to use the coupon. Since we wanted to have the photo of our 6 months old baby, we did not went back and eventually we purchased one print to use this coupon.

  14. julie

the coupon states “In same pose ,can combine with portrait package” Would that include the $7.99 package? It does state one FREE offer per Family but not only one offer am i wrong ?

  15. Kristin

You can use this code to order the free 16×20, in studio. They will give you online access to view and order additional prints. Check out retailmenot.com for current coupon codes. in february I placed three orders of 6 sheets of portaits and paid only 5.99 for the shipping of each. Never pay for what they want to get you to buy in the studio!!!

    • Kim C.

This is what I do, too! Such a deal 🙂

Also, on the printout that they give you of which photo you ordered (the free one) there is almost always a code for a free photo on the bottom to be used online (just pay shipping)

  16. Feikee

I though i am the only one with bad experince.. I never ever go back again to sears portrait.. Not even free stuff

  17. astronghouse

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THIS POST!!! I went today and had my sons very first professional pictures taken. He is 5 months old and the woman at my local Sears was FABULOUS! I have nothing but good things to say about them/her. She will be taking my Son’s pictures from now on as long as we live in the area. We are suppused to be getting orders (Hubby’s Navy) and we may be going back to North Carolina. I may have to ask the photographer to come with us! I ended up doing an entire package becasue this was his first photos ever but my son did great and I am concidering entering him for a handsome baby contest using these pictures! They are STUNNING!!! Thank you again!

  18. astronghouse

I can’t believe how many people had bad experiences! I had a great time! I went to the Sears in El Cajon, California. The photographer was fantastic! Her Name was Sabrina if anyone is interested! My icon is the photograph taken today. She did a magnificent job!

  19. indhu

i had a bad experience, they said 16X20 portrait is free only when another purchase is made.

  20. Bambi

Sorry so late but I just came home from the Florida Mall Sears in Orlando and can not help but to comment. What a headache! I was told that I had to make a purchase in order to get the freebie. I made a little bit of a stink and called the district manager. I got a recording and left a message. She called me back within 5 min. I told her that I was a little aggravated to find out that I HAD to make a purchase to receive the freebie yet it does not state that on the coupon. I was informed that only the coupons that state “No Purchase Necessary” will give you a portrait absolutely free. Then she asked me, “Were you not planning on purchasing anything, you only came for the free portrait. ” I said that if I liked the photos, I may purchase more but that’s not the point; I initially came in for the free portrait. This lady says to me, “Well, we do have a business to run and the photographers take extra time with you giving you a variety of pictures to choose from.” (?!!!!!!) I told her that I understand that they take extra time with you but that is not the point! The point is that they need to be more clear about what is being stated on the coupon and what you are getting once you get to the store. She then told me that she could offer me a single sheet for $6 (there 40% off special). Fine, I just wanted to take my children’s pictures and go. The photographer was very nice and my kids thought she was funny. The photographer appologized for the confusion but proceeded to tell me that they (the employees) are expected to fill in the blanks of the coupon when the customers arrive. I can imagine the drama they have to deal with!

  21. Dayana

The only way i go to sears portrait is with a free coupon i am not going to be waisting 200 0r 300 on pictures no way.yeah is true when yougo with a free coupon they always want to sell you mofre thats the way they work but i say no and i end up buying them thrue the web thats way cheaper than in the store what they sell you instore is half off online plus the send you specials via email that you can get then for a dollar or 5 pics for 9 bucks its a way better offer i think thats how i do it.and belive me when i go theres people well mostly elder people that pay alot 5 pics for 150.00
