I tried to put in a prepaid card with a balance of $0.00, and it didn’t work. It did for other people, so i guess it’s YMMV. Mine was american express btw.

    • HWMom

I tried two different prepaid Visa cards, one with 0 balance and one with a couple of dollars. Neither worked for me

      • kris

i just used a visa w/ 3 cents on it and it went thru

    • Lisa

I have my concerns about accepting this invitation. If we collectively all start paying for subscriptions to access coupons then pretty soon most coupons will not be free to print. Think about it before you jump. We all started paying for subsciption TV and now without Comcast or ATT what would we watch?

      • Ashley57

The coupons are higher value than the regular ones, so you would make your money back, unlike cable. And, there is plenty of stuff still on antenna, that is what I have!

  2. Melanie M

I just tried this and it asks for your credit card information even after is deducts the $30 and has a $0 balance. I don’t trust sites that do this. Cardstore.com NEVER does this when they offer free cards with promo code.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Melanie,

Here’s what I stated in the post regarding this:

Keep in mind that you do need to provide your credit card information, as this offer will automatically renew at a $30 charge unless you cancel before your free year is over. You will receive an email reminding you of the subscription conversion, notification that your credit card will be charged, and subscription cancellation information before it is charged.

      • Melanie M

Doh! Ok, will do. Thanks Collin:)

  3. Patty

If you have a membership already, can you cancel that one and rejoin with this one?

    • Amy Mac

I had cancelled my membership 2 days ago. It just let me sign up for it no problem.

      • Samantha

Amy, how did you cancel? I didn’t see the place to enter the promo code and thought it may be on the next screen and submitted and was charged the $30! Now I see where I should have clicked to get the promo code box. I’m hoping I can cancel and redo! 🙁

        • Amy Mac

In your account there’s a contact support button and you can ask to cancel. I don’t know if they will refund you though.

          • Samantha

Thanks so much. I’m hoping they understand! Otherwise, it’s a costly mistake. Lesson learned 🙂

    • Kayli

I was wondering the same thing. I have a free trial thing that ends in February. Can this add on to the end?

      • Beth

I was wondering that too. I found in the FAQ that you have to send contact support and tell them you want to cancel with your original order number from your confirmation email & your email address. Someone is supposed to get back with you in 24 hours. I hope I still have that confirmation email so I can cancel mine before it expires. It’s not worth $30 if you ask me.

        • maflies1

Had the free deal from b4 and have gotten some very good Q’s from it. Sign into your present account, go to My Account (I believe), then at the bottom of all of your info as if you’re updating is a grayed out button that you can click, “Cancel”. And it worked right away.

Then I cleared out of that window, went to Collin’s post, clicked on her banner, signed up for a new account with a different email address AND name (it will recognize any former), and yes you will need a credit card. And beside where I wrote my current email using and password, I wrote the exp. date so that I can cancel in time. Hopefully another deal next year. I do love FREE!

          • cristal

may want to double check maflies1, i did this but it only canceled my profile update not my account. you may now have two different accounts

  4. Cathy

    YAY! Got it! Thanks!!

  5. janet paula

You’re welcome!!!! I dont think u can use a prepaid card for this… I know my debit card worked just fine and I didnt get charged not one dime for it!!!

  6. Dino

besides printing coupons do you also get some in the mail just wondering before join in

    • Suzy

They only mail out coupons if you click the “help” menu (on the print menu) and it has an option for sending it to you in the mail– not all coupons do. Then you can fill out your address. Otherwise, they do not automatically mail you anything.

      • CourtneyAmanda

        I can’t find this print menu : /
I’ll go poke around some more 😕

  7. ercin13

Oh no something didn’t work and i was charged $30. How do i cancel the order?

    • Kidsallgone

OH DEAR! I thought I had to CONFIRM first, but it’s saying that my order went thru!!!
UGHHHH!!!! It also charged me $30. Phone number anyone????? Grrrrrr!!!! Maybe my email will show it as $0.00. Gonna check now…..

  8. MT

FYI: I was able to use a prepaid AMEX Gift card (an old deal from CVS) as my credit card. It only had $10 on it. This will prevent the worry of having to cancel next year 🙂

  9. Kidsallgone

I put in the Promo Code: BIRTHDAY but it’s still saying $30. I don’t want to check out with it saying that. Why doesn’t it say $0.00??? 🙁 🙁 🙁

    • Kidsallgone

YIKES!! Charged me $30!! What the shmell!!??!! I just sent an email to coupons.com and trialpay.com. We’ll see what happens……grrrrrrr!!! 🙁 🙁 🙁

    • Amy Mac

The promo code is case sensitive and must in all caps. Please people make sure it says $0.00 before clicking any buttons!

      • Kidsallgone

I did all CAPS 🙁 But I also was looking for a CONFIRM button because I thought after typing in the promo code it would change the $30 to $0, but that didn’t happen and I was charged $30 🙁 🙁 🙁

  10. Kitty

I used my citicard credit card # generator so I don’t have to give my real credit card number and the expiration date is October 2012. Worked for me!

    • Janelle

That is so smart! I need to start doing that! Thanks for the idea.

  11. Rae

😀 Yay!!! Thank you!!!! I couldn’t convince myself to spend the money on a membership but I’ll take it if its free!!! I can’t wait to see what kind of great coupons come out!

    • Betty

I agree! this is so awesome! thanks collin!

  12. shannon

I got it at $0 but I checked my credit card and it charged $1. I guess I”ll just have to keep an eye on it.

    • B

They must be doing a pre-authorization to be sure the card is active and has $ available. That would explain why pre-paid cards with a zero balance aren’t working. The $1 should fall off of your account in a few days and not result in a charge. I used to work in the debit card department at a bank so I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine! Makes your stomach flip a little, nonetheless!

      • rlaquigley

I had a $ debit and then a $1 credit underneath.. So they are preauthorizing credit cards..

  13. Bobbi

Got it, thanks! I wouldn’t have paid for the membership, but I will happily take it for free! 🙂

  14. Jamie

just wondering – does anyone have this? Do you actually get any better coupons??

    • Melissa

I’ve had it since February and I have only used two of the coupons it has offered. One was for $1 off two Lean Cuisines and the other was $1 off one MorningStar farms product. Alot of the coupons are for medicine kind of things, generic store brands. It’s fine to have since it’s free but I would NEVER pay for it.

      • txhrc4

I guess it depends on where you live? We get a ton of food coupons through that site…

      • Diane

I agree. I’ve also had the free membership for several months, and I’ve only printed 3 or 4 coupons. I plan to cancel when my year is up.

    • txhrc4

I have been paying for it for a few months. We print at least $17 worth of coupons a month, so $3 a month paying for it is a good deal to me. We actually get a better a dear through coupons.com then we do through the newspaper.

    • maflies1

Have gotten some higher value coupons than what you would get otherwise, so for me I am very pleased. Not a lot I would say, but I love getting the extra high values! If I can save more, it makes me very happy. 🙂

    • Jamie

Thanks for all the responses! I’ll try it while it’s free! Thanks again!

  15. txhrc4

Sweet! Thanks Collin! I was paying for this service monthly. So I cancelled and signed my husband up instead. He’s all for saving some $$! 🙂

  16. CourtneyAmanda

Just got it, and it says it was free. Thank you, Collin!! love the freebies 😀

  17. Tiffany

Thanks I missed it last time it came around because I was not happy about having to input cc info with it being free… Kinda like those gym memberships that auto renew. I read the terms of service and it looks like when you cancel you will still have access until the end of the subscription. I am going to cancel soon so that I will not forget or over look it this time next year.

    • sebauer

Smart idea, I was wondering if we could do this. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  18. Kidsallgone

Collinnnnnnnn……….any advice for me on how to contact them with a phone number? I already emailed them regarding the $30 charge. I’m so annoyed with myself for not catching the $30 total before submitting. I did type in BIRTHDAY. Maybe I was supposed to UPDATE or something before submitting? I guess if I have to, I will will contest the order with my CC company. Thanks for any advice….anyone?

you can nearly always find “contact us” info on all sites

      • Kidsallgone

        Thankyou Courtney 🙂
I did find that info on their site & I did call. No one amswered either because no one was working on weekends, or I called too early for west coast time.

  19. Janel

Sre the coupons actually better? Trying to decide if its worth inputing my CC info.

  20. tara

I just signed up for this with a pre paid credit card that I got from the olay rebate last month with no problem. Thanks so much

  21. Marie

I just did it using a P & G rebate card. Had no problems at all, entered the code, showed I owed nothing, and sent me an email giving me a conf. # & order #. If you used a regular credit card, then yes it will probably show up as a $1 charge that will disappear in a few days. They are just checking your info.

    • Sharon

Great idea, worked like a a charm! Thanks so much!

  22. Kelly

Used a prepaid visa card with no problems!

  23. couponsforc

I had the same prob as others – I ended up being charged the $30. I don’t understand – I clicked the tab for Free Membership and typed in the promo code. How did others get this resolved???

    • Kidsallgone

Welcome to my world lol! I’ll let you know if, when, and how I got mine resolved. I’ll be calling them on Tuesday.

    • Susanne

After you enter the Promo code, you need to click APPLY. The balance goes immediately to zero…THEN you hit the submit button for “payment”. IF you enter just the code and submit, it has not applied the code an will charge the $30. HTH!

  24. Jenny

Hey Collin, will you be adding these coupons to the deals you list?

    • Ashley57

She already does include them occasionally.

  25. Rene

Thanks Collin! This made my day!

  26. couponsforc

How do I cancel? I find this deal to be misleading because it is so finicky that it has caused some of us to get charged. Please anyone with info help me.

    • Lisa

I don’t think the link to enter the promo code stands out very well. It’s easy to miss and therefore get charged.

      • Kidsallgone

The promo code place was hard to see, but I did see it and typed it in before submitting, but I still thought it would change it to $0.00. I probably did something wrong, in the wrong order….as usual LOL….and that’s prob why I was charged. I’ve emailed coupons.com and trialpay.com and i also found a number to call but assume no one will be in until Tuesday. I’ll call then.

        • ercin13

i’m in the same boat. I’m sure we will get refunded, just don’t like my money tied up. You would think they would do a deal like this when they had some in customer service working.

          • couponsforc

I don’t think my hubby will like our $$ tied up either! LOL Hope this gets resolved soon.

    • Shanshan

I have to disagree! “Have a promo code? Click here.” was to the left of “Order Total USD $30.00”, and was directly above your credit card information. Make sure you do click on it, enter “BIRTHDAY”, AND click the “APPLY” button, to make the order total drop from $30.00 to $0.00. THEN you can click to place the order.

Placing order while it’s still showing “$30.00” in “order total”, then you will get exactly what you ordered– a $30 membership.

      • couponsforc

        Shanshan,

I DID click the Have a Promo Code link. I DID type in BIRTHDAY – just because this worked for you, you happened to hold your tongue just right or whatever gave you luck, then you should not act as if we are the incompetent ones for getting it wrong.

Obviously several people had a problem, which tells me the site did not do a good job of making their promo user friendly. Sites of this type should have their act together by now and know how to efficiently run promos. Sorry but I offer no excuse for them.

        • Kidsallgone

Ditto!! (to couponsforc) …Even tho I dont think I clicked on APPLY…i dont usually overlook doing that, but perhaps I did this time….But (for shanahan) still no reason to rub it in by basically saying, “If you cant follow directioms, then you get what you deserve.” Remember, what goes around, comes around. It will happen to you one day, and then hopefully you will regret posting your smarta$$ words of wisdom.

          • couponsforc

I’m not sure if I hit Apply or not, but I am accustomed to doing this with other sites. I really feel that they didn’t make it apparent enough.

          • shanshan

I commented coz I found it outrageous that some are calling this a scam. Yep forgetting to click “reply” would certainly have caused the problem, I knew that because I almost forgot to click on it. I spent the time to comment so those who have not taken advantage of this great offer will be extra careful, and not to be scared away by the comments blaming the website instead of themselves.

Don’t know what you mean by “what goes around comes around.” Like I am the one wishing others to make the mistake. $30 is a lot of money and I do believe and hope those being charged will all get it back.

    • Samantha

I had the same issue! Fingers crossed that they will refund us! I called but no one was in the office, of course. I too shall try back on Tuesday. I did email them also.

      • christine

maybe if enough of us call in they will. i also had the same issue. i sent an email, and will call tuesday. i hope to get this resolved. i would like to try the service first.

    • Amy Mac

I don’t think there is any problem with the offer.

      • Kidsallgone

I count at least 5 of us that had a “problem with the offer” 🙁 …so obviously there is a “problem with the offer” (Ok and maybe with some of us a “problem with the subscriber” LOL! 🙂

  27. Lisa

I have a P&G card with less than a dollar left on it, and it tells me the bank has declined it. The only other prepaid card I have is from My Coke Rewards, and the name on it is “Card Holder”. It tells me to confirm the address, but it still won’t take it. Unless someone has an idea for me, I guess I’m out of luck!

    • Lisa

I figured this out and wanted to pass along the info in case anyone else is trying to use the recent $20 Visa card from MCR. I had been using my own zip code and that’s why it asked me to confirm the address. I logged into my account on the back of the card and saw the full “card recipient” address, which I guess is the bank, so I used that zip code and then it worked. Yay!

      • jchahutton

I knew it was a zip problem, but I was putting in the zip on the back of the card. Thanks for the tip, I went to my card’s website, and got the correct info! 🙂

  28. Julie

It worked for me and I even used my serve prepaid card to get the deal!

  29. Marissa

Question. If i sign my husband and i up is it still only 2 prints per computer or since you have a membership are you allowed to print 2 per membership. THANKS!

    • Hiro

I had Saving club membership already, last time Collin posted. But I wanted it little bit longer time. So I sign up with my husband name. Now, I have 2 membership, but still 2 prints per computer. I think I will print from son’s computer. My husband won’t let me print coupon from his computer. HTH!
By the way, if my English sound rude, I’m sorry about that. English is my second language.

  30. Aubri

I entered the code, applied it, dropped total to $0. Added info from a visa pre paid card that had 1.22 left on it AND expires this nov with no problem.

    • jchahutton

What zip did you put on the prepaid? None of mine are working, even with $30 on them! Thanks

  31. Orie

WHAT A JOKE!!!! I signed up for the FREE (promo code:BIRTHDAY) ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION from COUPONS.COM & all SEEMED to be going ok, It showed ZERO balance for it & I hit Submit (Yep-impending crap coming) 🙁 & low & behold you better believe they Charged me the $30.00 anyway. OK so I try & call, email, any link to get ahold of someone right away to let them know of the mistake….NOPE!!!! NOT ONE PERSON COULD I GET HOLD OF,and to the email links?? (HA!) NOT ONE would go thru! So…maybe it is me,or maybe it is just a big SCAM-OLA??

    • Kidsallgone

LOL! You sound like me! I’ve been ranting about my $30 charge all afternoon! We’ll all get it straightened out. It might take a few days, but we WILL prevail 🙂 🙂 🙂

  32. mommyworksfromhome

I dont see any different coupons that the ones I just printed out for free already before signing up unless I am not going to the right members only section?!

    • squarejellybean

I cant find them either ………….. where are the higher value coupons….under wut section?

    • Sunny

They don’t show up automatically. You have to log in after signing up. Then they’ll be the first coupons at the top of the page.

  33. Ana

Thanks Collin I signed up, but I don’t see much difference in the coupons for $30 for the membership. I think I’ll still keep going through Swagbucks and earn swagbucks on my coupons.

  34. KW

i emailed them earlier cause they are trying to charge me, they said they are having technical glitches and they said they are advising people who posted about the offer to pull it down until issues are resolved.

  35. Sarah

I signed up and hope to get some really good coupons this year. I also set a reminder in Ical to cancel my membership next year.

    • Stefanie

Someone above said that you can cancel anytime and still will receive your benefits until the end of the one-year period– might be wise to cancel sooner rather than later 🙂 That’s what I’m going to do once I sign up (after they work out the kinks) 🙂

      • M

        Hi Stefanie,
I tried that the last time this was available for free and they took away my ability to print them at the end of the month I called in. I complained but no go so YMMV. HTH.

  36. Karen

When I signed up it never even showed $30. Everything was zero. I put in my credit card info and it still said zero. I put in the code and applied it and it wouldn’t take it (I’m guessing because there was no cost showing up to begin with). I’m hoping they don’t charge because there were never any charges that showed up from the time I clicked on their site. Maybe because I’m already a member at coupons.com? I don’t know.

  37. MJS

Just my opinion, but it seems fishy to have to pay for coupons! I realize if you do the steps correctly that you would not end up paying anything. I guess I just object to the whole concept of paying money just to get better coupons to get money off of products. If a manufacturer wants us to buy their products then it is up to them to supply decent coupons. It feels like a racket of some sort; pay money to get better coupons that should be available to everyone! If we all could afford to pay more, we most likely wouldn’t need the coupons in the first place. I am also very wary of automatic renewals, definitely is a business practice that seems shady.
    Just my opinion! 🙂

    • Aleks

Does seem fishy, after all don’t the manufacturers make A big deal about anyone paying for coupons, like on e-bay for example? So why is it ok to pay them instead? Just strange……..

  38. Shanon

Just signed up with the free code and confirmation email I received shows a zero balance:)

  39. Patrick Crisp

Hi guys, I’m on the Communications team at Coupons.com. A Hip2Save user called me to say she was charged when using the free code. We’ll look into this right away.

    • Kidsallgone

      Thanks for responding Patrick 🙂
Count me in as another one that was charged.
Please advise on how I can get this resolved to have my credit card refunded the $30.

    • couponsforc

      awesome thanks

    • Teri

Very cool. Thanks for the great customers service.

  40. Sasha

    Not stepping in this one.
I get more than our share of deals each week.
I did the Target Colgate deal 6 times last nite-12 toothbrush 2 pks & 6 fat tubes Colgate-MM’ers!
Then to Publix, where Imade $36. on all the Dr. Pepper & other free items we got. 🙂
Our newspapers provide us with plenty of q’s. And don’t get me started on Dollar Tree!
What a fabulous FREE bonanza! All for the taking!

  41. Andres Suay

    Hi all,
I am the Product Marketing Manager for the Coupons.com Savings Club. First of all, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience regarding the usage of the promo code BIRTHDAY.
The code seems to be working correctly for the majority of users. However, if you were charged using this code, please email Support@couponsinc.com with “Savings Club Birthday” in the subject line and we’ll get you to the front of the line when we get back into the office on Tuesday morning and will take care of you.
Please note that the code is case sensitive: BIRTHDAY and that you need to click the APPLY button to make it effective.
    Thank you.

    • Kidsallgone

      Email sent.
      Thanks for the info 🙂
I’m sure (well, maybe hoping that) everything will be resolved to our satisfaction.

  42. Si

I was reading the promotion rules and it sounds like you will be billed the full $30 if you cancel after the promo period (even if it’s a short time thereafter). It says “you will be billed up to and including the year in which you cancel.” It’s the “including the year” part that gets me. You should only have to pay for the month that you cancel. I’m not going to do this.

  43. Linda W.

Thanks. I had wanted to have a trial run of this. Also for all those with issues…..see Post #43 in comment section from the Product Marketing Manager for the Coupons.com Savings Club. Sounds like they will take care of the issues on Tuesday.

    • Linda W.

      oops….Post #41.

  44. shela

how do you change the zipcode when finding coupons once you get into this saving club?

  45. Elyse

Does anyone know if being a member of coupons.com gives you access to high-value baby product coupons? That is really the only reason I would join. Please let me know if you are a member!

  46. Lisa

After all the hassle getting my prepaid card to work, I just got an email from coupons.com saying my order (the membership) can’t be processed. Doesn’t even say why. I think this has been more trouble than it’s worth!

  47. couponsforc

Thank you Coupons.com for acknowledging the problems we had with your site 🙂

    • Kidsallgone

      Ditto (again lol)!!

      • couponsforc

Fingers crossed that this will all be behind us by Tuesday! 🙂

  48. Chrissy

Where could I get a prepaid card that I could reload but not pay a monthly fee? TIA

    • Teri

I used my Amx Gift card, that I purchased a while back during a Publix promotion (just for this type of offer). There was no fee, I actually made $4 on each card purchased. I had a $2 balance on the card I used, and it worked perfectly. I can’t be charged if I should forget, or something. But, if I save money, I would consider joining at the full price.

  49. Janelle

I actually gave my debit card info. and this is the email I got:

We’re sorry, but we were unable to process your order (#Q4945B65). Your credit card has NOT been charged. However, you may see our pre-authorization as a pending transaction in your payment account’s statement. This pre-authorization is not a charge, and will go away in a few days.

I wish it said why they couldn’t process. After reading the above comments it doesn’t seem worth the headache. The email appears to be from another company and not coupons.com so… I’m not even sure which to call. Doesn’t seem worth the time.

  50. Mary
