I give my parents either a 5×7 or 8×10 of my kids for Christmas EVERY year. Just make sure to put it in a pretty frame (There are LOTS under $5.00 at Wal-mart and the $ store) first, and presto… An awesome inexpensive gift! 🙂 My parents have told me that getting pictures of the grands are their favorite gifts.
You could buy an 8×10 canvas (usually Michaels or Hobby Lobby has them on sale or you can use one of their 40% off coupons) and then just take modpodge on the back of the photo and put the picture on it. Then after that is completely dry you take modpodge over the photo. You could either paint the sides of the canvas, leave them white, or modpodge scrapbook paper on them. Makes for a very inexpensive and nice gift 🙂
What about having your kids (or pets or you/hubby/bf/etc.) make a photo message? Have your model hold a sign with a word or letter (you can print it from your computer), or contort their body into a letter shape, or stand next to something with the shape you want. You could spell out a generic message like “Merry Christmas” or “2012” or spell out each recipient’s name. You can combine the photos with text or borders in Photoshop (or there are free/cheap programs that have some of Photoshop’s features)

We spelled out LOVE for v-day one year using round pizza cardboard backs we spray painted red. It was really cool. My favorite FREE photo editing program is GIMP.org. Paint.net is nice too.

If you have any basic editing software you can make your own “collage” and upload it as a single image:)
Andrea, try picmonkey.com. It’s easy and free. Make your collage. Save it and then order your 8 x 10 pic. It’s a great work-around!!
The http://www.picmonkey.com site was AWESOME! Didn’t have to create an account or log-in, just got to work. I quickly picked out my layout and created a collage from our anniversary party. I saved the picture to my hard drive, and then went to walgreens.com and uploaded the collage picture. Ready in one hour, 3 blocks from my house, no charge. Thanks Collin, and Thanks BHW!

Did a picture of my daughter’s dog for her to hang on her dorm wall. Everytime you posted these Wags photo deals for the last year and a half I did them to have pictures/collages for my child who was graduating high school. If you bought the cd from the photographer, you bought rights to print yourself. If not, legally you can’t.
not the school ones… but usually if you send the company that took the photographs an email or call them asking for the release, they don’t have any problem sending it to you 🙂 ~I used to work at a photo lab and this happens all the time! Just get the release before you pick the image up and you shouldn’t have a problem.

It was a great deal, but the picture was so dark that I can’t even use it. And it looked fine on their website when I uploaded it.
Same here – I always have the same problem with sending pictures via Walgreens website. They are always dark… although it was fine when I upload them and sent to Walgreens. I have even try lighting the picture but always comes out dark, sure glad that they are free.
