WooHoo! Here is some super exciting news for all you Android users! The Ibotta app (one of my personal favorite apps!) is now available on Android! That means all you Android users (and iPhone users!) can now earn cash when you purchase products at Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Walmart and 19 other retailers!
And if you have yet to download and use this Ibotta app, now is your chance to do so and snag $5 cash. To qualify for the FREE $5 cash, you must sign up for an Ibotta account by clicking through this link and then you must redeem at least one successful offer from the Ibotta Product Gallery by uploading a receipt and receiving cash on your Ibotta account. What a great way to earn some extra money!

Here’s how it works:
Head over here and download the Ibotta app for FREE (note that this app is currently only compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch – 3rd generation, iPod touch – 4th generation, iPod touch – 5th generation and iPad and does requires iOS 5.0 or later). Ibotta for Android users will be coming soon (you can head over here and click on the “Get on the List” link in the bottom left corner to be notified as soon as the Android version is available which will be no later than the end of this year!).
Before you head out to shop, browse through all the different offers. You’ll earn money by watching quick videos, viewing recipes, taking polls, posting to your Facebook Wall etc. AND then actually going to the store to purchase these specific items. Note that Ibotta works in every Rite Aid, CVS, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, and 17 other retailers in the United States and has plans to expand to even more retailers in the near future. The awesome part for all of us couponers, is that in addition to getting cash back on your purchases, you can also use manufacturer’s coupons to lower your out of pocket expense.
Be sure to check out the product detail page on the app itself in order to view the offer’s expiration date. Offers can sell out, so it’s important to redeem them before they’re gone!
After you make your in-store purchases, you’ll just need to upload your receipt via the Ibotta app. Ibotta will then verify your purchases and determine whether credit should be added to your account within 24 hours. In many cases, you will receive word from Ibotta in under 1 hour. It is super simple to upload your photo and money was added to my account within an hour. Very cool!
Once you’ve reached at least $5 in earnings, Ibotta lets you transfer your earnings directly to your PayPal account. Choose Withdraw Cash from the main menu of the app, then select Get My Cash to link Ibotta to your PayPal account. How awesome is that?!
If you’d rather opt to donate your earnings to your favorite school, you can make a donation to any school in America as soon as you’ve earned $1 with Ibotta. Just choose Withdraw Cash from the main menu of the app, then select Donate to Schools. Ibotta can use your current location to find nearby schools, or you can type in any zip code and pull up a list of schools in that area.
Be sure to tell Ibotta which offers you like and dislike by tapping the image of any product and choosing either thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Over time the app learns what kinds of products you prefer and offers them accordingly.
Also note that there is no limit on the number of offers you can redeem. Once you have successfully redeemed an offer, Ibotta immediately restocks your shelf with a new offer. The more offers you redeem, the more new offers you will see, and the more money you can earn.
I’m an Adroid user. Been using Ibotta since Dec 7. They personally sent me an email to download the app, but didn’t recieve my $5. cash. Bummer! 🙁

BTW, when you take a photo of the recipet…does it need to b of the whole reciept so the store and everything is showing or do they want a close up just showing the specific item purchased?

I can see lot of offers for $0.25 for taking poll and $0.50//1 watching video and more for sharing on FB. We just earn the bucks even if we don’t upload receipt for all those items?
I thought I read you only get the points after buying the item.
I think all those activities unlock the money and you get it when you purchase. Thats the way it seemed to me anyway.
No. You have to complete the activities for the item and then upload a receipt with your proof of purchase to claim the $ for each item. For example, there was an offer for $1.00 on green apple chapstick. I completed the activities in the app (poll, FB, etc) and then bought the chapstick for $0.68 at Target (travel section). In order to claim the $1.00 cash from Ibotta, I had to upload the receipt and confirm the product by scanning the barcode on the product after the receipt upload. Rewards usually post to your account with 24 hours. 🙂

Yes it will work as long as you still have the products to scan the barcodes. I tried some receipts from a few weeks ago at cvs from the free vitamin water with a $10 purchase coupon. It worked perfectly.

Wanted to do this but the phone permissions are too intrusive. Especially accessing the camera to take photo/video whenever it wants.

Question! When we do offers (learn a fact, take a poll, watch a video), do we actually have to buy the product for it to credit past pending?
Yes. You can load as many of the offers as you want but you won’t get paid the amount of the coupon until you purchase the item and upload your receipt and scan the barcode of the item. 🙂 hth

When I try scanning bar code, it doesn’t do anything. Any recommendations?
If you lay the item flat and try not to get your shadow over the bar code it works best. I’ve also found that if you scan from the bottom of the barcode up to try to center it in the little box that it reads easier than going top to bottom.
I also have not been able to get the barcode scanner to do anything. I have an android on 2.3, on a regular barcode scanner app works fine. Was able to take pictures of my receipt but can’t get through the next step. Any suggestions?
i waited all this time for the app to available for andriod and its not even compatible with our phone…i have an ipod touch and an andriod phone and can’t use it on either 🙁
Several HIPsters were using their ipod touch and using wifi to upload the receipts. Check on the last post that Collin did about ibotta about a week ago and there were several folks posting about it. Good luck!

Help! I have an android and downloaded the app this morning. When I click on offers there are not any. Am I doing something wrong or does that mean it’s not available in my area?
Do you have stores available on your list? It shouldn’t matter where you live because I have a ton of stores as options that aren’t even in Arkansas! Might need to reinstall the app. Their customer service is phenomenal – I usually have an answer within an hour.
