Walmart: Apology & $10 eGift Card in My Inbox (Did You Receive This Too?!)

Earlier this week, there were many of you (including myself!) who jumped on the opportunity to snatch up the 3.5 Ft. Cardboard Race Car AND Markers or Crayons from Walmart.com for only $1.97 shipped. Unfortunately, the majority of us received just the crayons and/or markers but not the Cardboard Race Car. So imagine my surprise when I checked my email this morning and discovered the following from Walmart…

Unfortunately, there has been an error with the bundle you recently ordered on our site. One or more of the items you selected was unavailable, and we are unable to send you the missing item(s). We apologize for any inconvenience, and want you to know you may keep the other items from this bundle free of charge and we will issue a full refund. You will receive a separate email with your refund amount within the next 48 hours.

Also, to thank you for your understanding, we’re emailing you a $10 eGift Card to apply towards a future Walmart purchase online or in stores. You’ll receive the eGift Card in a separate email within 48 hours.

Although I was initially disappointed that I was not able to snag the Cardboard Race Car and the Crayons/Markers for only $1.97, I think that the fact that Walmart is formally sending an apology email AND giving me a $10 eGift Card is pretty darn great! 🙂 What about you?     I received my markers yesterday and was wondering why they came alone. This mornings email was great. It seems we will receive refund plus $10 egift

    I got it too. They will honor e-cards at the store, or you can buy a hard card with the e card and get free shipping.

    Boo, no email for me. I ordered 8 of them but canceled after I emailed customer service and they said it was just markers. I didn’t want to stand in line at customer service with 3 kids to return them. Oh well, win some lose some.

    I received my email this morning too. I’m receiving the crayons markers and jumbo crayons, plus a full refund and a $10 e-gift card. Way to go Wal-Mart for keeping your customers happy!

    I got the e-mail and they said they were going to issue a full refund and I get to keep my 6 packages of markers! Wow!! Can’t beat that!

    The email was in my Spam folder, so make sure you check there for Walmart email.

    Yay! I got the email. I should have ordered my two separately so I would have gotten 2 $10 gift cards! 🙂 I still want to return the crayons though. $2 is way too much for me. But how do I get my shipping costs back?

      I placed two orders and both were referenced in one email, so you wouldn’t have received two gift cards 🙁

      My email says this: “…want you to know you may keep the other items from this bundle free of charge and we will issue a full refund. You will receive a separate email with your refund amount within the next 48 hours.”

      So you can get a full refund, plus the $10 gift card AND keep your crayons.

    I got the email. I was a little disappointed about the car because I wanted to use it as an activity for my son’s birthday, but I’ll take the FREE markers and $10 bucks 🙂

    I’m curious- I’ve seen different things: Some people are saying you get the $10 credit per bundle ordered, some people are saying it’s per order. So if you ordered 4 bundles in one order, are you getting $40 back, or $10, because it’s in one order? I haven’t been able to find an answer anywhere.

      I ordered one of each bundle for a total of 4 and the letter I got stated $10 for the whole shabang and I get to keep the 4 packages of markers sent to me along with getting a full refund.

        I had placed a few orders (I bought them for my daughters class.) I saw one person say she confirmed with Wal Mart that it was $10 per bundle. She said she clarified that she bought 4 bundles, and was getting 4 gift cards. Kind of crazy if it’s true!

          I called Walmart just now and spoke with a CS rep and she told me it’s $10 per order whether you ordered 1 or 10 bundles, you only get $10 as a courtesy for the inconvenience. I guess we will see when the time comes how it all works out.

    Yes, I got an email too today and the $10 egift card was a very nice surprise. Glad Walmart is righting their mistake. I wish Episencial would honor theirs instead of claiming that they were hacked with several orders for free merchandise. I called Monday 4/8 to see what was going on with my order and I was told by the CS rep their site was hacked into and that there were several orders placed getting free products. She asked when I placed my order and I told her the date and then she asked if I was part of that group and I told her I bought body wash and I paid $4 for it. I did not try to get something for nothing. Then she told me my order would be filled when they got more products in stock. We will see, if I don’t get my products I will be filing a claim with Discover. I’m really disappointed because I wanted to try these products and feel insulted by her comment about being part of a group that “hacked” into their system to get free merchandise.

    I didnt even look at my order confirmation they sent to my email until now. The one I saw when ordering listed the cardboard, but the one I just checked in my email account just said markers. I hadn’t recieved the email for the refund so I went to WalMart.com to find out what was going on with my order. The order shows up in my account as just markers but it says processing. I click the order number hoping to cancel but it then says, “We’re having temporary difficulties arriving at the destination you requested.” So we will see what happens.

    I received the email, too. The markers arrived yesterday even though I cancelled. Looks like I will get to keep them and also come out $10 ahead. I plan to take a few minutes to write Walmart and let them know how much I appreciate their handling of this situation. Oh, and the email was in my junk mail, too. It was from “Walmart.com Fulfillment” or wmfulfillmentsvcs@walmart.com. So if you didn’t receive it in your inbox, you might want to check your junk mail. I almost didn’t see mine!

    I received my markers yesterday. And i got the mail today. Good on their part that they are showing a great customer service. But i still wish i had gotten that race car. The smile on my son’s face wud hv bn priceless. I might order the same thing with this money.😊

    Wow. I am positively shocked by Walmart’s move. It’s one thing to cancel. It’s another thing to add free markers. A free $10, now that is icing on the cake.

    I was shocked to get the email this morning! I ordered the race car and the fire truck and although I’m bummed we won’t be getting either (it would have kept my son busy for at least an hour 😉 ), I am super excited about getting the crayons and markers for free plus the $10! That’s the best customer service I’ve ever experienced with Walmart!

    I didn’t get an e-mail I’m assuming because I cancelled my orders, but what is weird is that i have not gotten a refund….a little upset.

      I *tried* to cancel my order, too, Kim, but they shipped anyway. And no email here either, just another “fun” long wait in their dang return lines for me. Guess only certain ones get lucky this round, ah well.

        Yeah that is how it seems to work for me! Except they did not ship me anything, refund me or give me an e-mail… I just sent an e-mail to customer service so we will see what happens! I had put in 3 orders and it shows in my account that I cancelled them.

        Well, just got off the phone w/ Walmart, and supposedly ALL of these orders will be treated as many already have, just might take some time for the rest of us (she said w/i 48 hours) 🙂

    I got it, too! My markers came yesterday and then the email this morning. I’m not usually a big fan of Wal-Mart, but I have to say this is beyond good customer service. 2 free packs of Crayola markers and a $10 gift card without having to leave my house! Good job, Wal-Mart!

    My faith in customer service has been restored! Way to go Wal-Mart! When I tried to cancel my order, Edwin, their CS agent was excellent and went out of his way to help. The markers shipped anyway and I got them yesterday. I decided it would just be a lesson learned and to remember like my mama always said, “If it sounds too good to be true…it just might be!”. 🙂

    I had e-mailed customer service before they sent out this e-mail. I received an e-mail from customer service that I would be given $15 off next order and then I received the e-mail you showed above from the fulfillment department that it would be $10 e-gift card. I am now wondering what I am going to get. I’m sure not both. It doesn’t really matter to me anymore, they have refunded my money and I got to keep the markers. I’m happy with just that because I didn’t have to go through the trouble of returning them.

    Has anyone received the email with the $10 gift card yet? I got the apology email but it said the gift card would come under a separate email and I haven’t gotten it. Let’s all be sure to pass on our thanks to Walmart for their handling of this situation. Companies/stores should recieve both bad AND good feedback!
