Sooo, is this @ Family DOLLAR or Dollar General? It says both here & I Always confuse them (I have both of them near my house & never remember which is which) lol

    • Jessica

      Dollar general

    • Allison

The ad above is from Dollar General, I received the ad in today today’s newspaper. 🙂 I am wondering if the promotion can be used more than one time for $2 off with any 3 items? Can we buy 9 items and get $6 off in one order???I never shop at this store, but I am willing to check it out with some free items. 🙂

      • Christy

I just bought nine (9) Capri Sun and six (6) Country Time with no problems.

  2. Jordan

So can I get only one $2 off instantly or can we do several?

  3. patti

curious about the same thing , if there’s a limit as to how many of the deals. If not i wonder if we can do multiple transactions.

  4. melodyt

I bought (4) Kool-aid Jammers, (2) Capri Sun and got $4 taken off for the promo and i had (2) $1/2 Kool-aid Jammers coupons and (1) $1/2 Capri Sun coupon no longer available..total was $5.41 including tax!

    • melodyt

      *Capri Sun 10pk drinks

    • patti

oh good. Maybe there is not limit to how many of the deals can be done in a single transaction then. It doesn’t note anywhere in the ad about a limit, not that i could see anyway.

  5. lee

just got back and bought 9 capri sun big pouch $1 each. i asked the cashier if i had to do multiple transactions are will it take $2 FOR EVERY 3. she said it would take off $2 for every 3 i buy but when we sanned the b2g1 coupon it only took off 34 cents for each coupon. she saw what it did and found a way to adjust it. the register probably only took off 34 cents because i was actually getting 3 of them for $1. but i ended up only paying 10 cents tax for 9 of them because i had a cashier that understood the coupons. so be careful with the b1g1 coupons.

    • Kate

Glad this worked for you. I had so many problems trying to get these deals for work and they would not manually override anything. They are not a coupon friendly store. I tried 3 different stores. All I had success with was Jell-O $75 x 3 = $2.25 – $2 instant = $.25 (no coupons) and Country Time Pitcher Pack $1 x 3 = $3 – 2 instant = $1 – $1/2 country time 4/21 SS (no size restriction) = free. Even this didn’t work at one store because the cashier was going by the picture and refused to accept it.

      I also tried this with no success – $2 Homestyle Mac + $1.75 Cheesy Skillet + $1 Velveeta Topper = $4.75 – $2 instant = $2.75 – $1 Homestyle – $1 Cheesy – $.70 Topper = $0.05. Like I said, this did not work and they would not manually do anything to make it.

      • sarah

is the $2 coupon “attaching” all the 3 items or it is showing separately? thus deducting like the $/$$ coupons do, because if you try to get an item that is free with coupon and then use the $/$$ coupon the register doesnt let you.

        • Mel

The $2 discoun is coming off each item so it does make it hard to use coupons.

      • axhilli

If they scan the coupon before hitting total then it won’t work. They have to hit total first.

      • Emma

The cheesy skilets was not on the deal, only the potatos. have to look at the ad closely.

  6. Meagan

Is there a specific zip code needed for the Kool Aid jammers coupon? I can’t seem to find it.

    • Liz

I could not find the $1/2 Kool-Aid Jammers Juice Drinks coupon either. I think it is GONE.

    • Lori

I had it in my “pile” to print, left the computer for an hour or so, came back to print and now I can’t find it either!

  7. mrs. savings

Bought 18 capri sun big pouches in the same trans. For every 3 it took off $2. Good cuz I hate being that customer that takes forever doing 10 trans

    • Kate

Mrs.Savings, did you use any coupons? If so, I’m wondering if you had issues.

      • Brooke

I bought 27 big pouches in the same transaction along with 9 coupons for save $1 off of 3. No problems with it at all

  8. steph

I walked out of my store and just left it all there except for my coupons of course. I was kicking myself the whole way out of the store because I knew it would be a problem. My DG is anti coupon. The cashiers find a way to make your transaction not work. Sorry for the rant but a good waste of 30 minutes of my day.

    • Doreen

Same here. They also have a problem with the Iams coupon that we got from Vocalpoint . After 30mins they got that to work. Its on sale for 5.00 and the coupon was for 2.50 off any size. So I took the Iams food and left.

  9. sarah

there are dollar general store coupons on the website too… save $1 on any 2 select kraft products, free drink mix wyb 2 drink mixes (kool aid country time) so hows that gona play out? there are also some hang tags for kraft items too at the store. i seen free capri sun pouch wyb 2 lunchables duos. you arent supposed to use a coupon on a free item per their coupon policy…so i duno how this would be best with the $2 off promo, etc. now im really getting confused! ha

    • Kristy

I bought 6 capri suns & an orange to pick up overage. Used 2 b2G1 coupons & the $1 off of 2 dollar gen coupon. I had problems. I had to have the dollar general coupon adjusted down to 92 cents. I just paid cents for tax. I don’t know what happened though, but thankfully the cashier was very helpful.

  10. Heather

This sale was perfect!!!! I opted to get the 10 qt. country time lemonades instead of the 2 qts so I paid $4 for 3 of them and am donating them to our church tonight for the 4th of July picnic! Thanks Collin 🙂

  11. Cindy

I just returned from Dollar General and purchased 4 Jello Gelatin/pudding and the deal worked perfectly. I purchased 2 Jello gelatin for .75 each and 2 Jello chocolate puddings for .75 each. Total was $3.00. I used a $1.00 off 3 coupon and after the $2.00 discount my total was 0. I also purchased 2 diet coke bottles from the cooler next to the checkout. There were coupon tags hanging from the bottle necks for $1.00 off 2 and they were $1.00 each so after the coupon it was like paying $.50 a bottle.

  12. Caitlin

Just left. Grabbed two Kool Aid Jammers, a Kraft Homestyle bowl, three Jellos and some other stuff I needed and it worked like a charm using a $1/2 Jammers coupon and $1 off Kraft Homestyle coupon– in Magnolia, AR.

  13. Pat

Mine didn’t work really good. I only got $4 off and I bought the 3 Capri Sonnes, 3 jammers, and 3 jello. I used the b2g1 coupon and two one dollar coupons on the other items. Still paid 6.74 In Jacksonville, AR

  14. Pat

Did anybody notice that they kept the shelves empty of the head and shoulders that were priced at 2.50? Everytime I went they only had one so you couldn’t use the coupon to get them free.

    • Kristin

Mine had 6 out at 2.50 so I was able to get all of them free. This is the first time this week I’ve seen them in stock.

    • Lisa

My stores have not had the head and shoulders for awhile now.

  15. Stacy

I got MONEY BACK from DG on my deal! Woo Hoo! I bought two country time pouches and one Jello pudding. Gave $1/2 country time and got $.20 back! I didn’t know DG would give cash back but the cash register said “amount owed to customer” and shabamm I got it back! Love it! NOTE: THE CASHIER MUST PRESS TOTAL FIRST AND THEN YOU GIVE COUPONS. THAT WAY IT TAKES THE $2 OFF FIRST. LOVE THIS DEAL!

    • LisaD

That’s great Stacy. I wasn’t so lucky. I think when you have a cashier that understands how to enter coupons it does help with the experience. Mine was totally lost, so I paid more OOP than expected and it really wasn’t worth it for me.

      • Stacy

I hate that for you Lisa! I had a horrible experience at another DG store yesterday when I tried to buy 6 Wisk in conjunction with the $5 off $30 purchase. Store manager would only allow me to use 1 Wisk coupon when I had 6. I went to another store and did the deal with no problem. I will be calling the regional manager tomorrow. Every time I have called corporate office, i have had good results.

    • Stacy

Hey one more thing – I took that .20 and put it toward 3 Jello puddings and paid only .07 out of pocket for four jellos and two country time pouches!

  16. LisaD

My transaction was horrible with this deal. I got three of the Capri Sun packs (that’s all that was left) and six of the Country Times…but the deal was only one per transaction per the manager. So then I tried to do the Country Time one by itself after messing up the previous one, and it still didn’t come out free. The $2 is taken off each item, so when the cashier tried to put in the $1/2 coupon, it wouldn’t take. Another clerk said, the cashier should not total the transaction out before adding the coupon. At this time, I was frustrated, and there was a line forming, so I just paid what I was told, and left. Dollar General coupon-ing is wierd, and it will be a while before I try using coupons again in conjunction with their sales.

    • Candice

I totally agree. This was my first time couponing there today. Luckily a manager was on duty and she was super nice even though we had to redo my transaction everything worked as it was suppose to. It will be a long time before I coupon with them, even though manager was great. Not worth my time.

  17. Lindsay

Got 9 big pouch Capri suns and 6 country time pouches. The register wouldn’t take my DG coupons so I said don’t worry about it. Paid $5 tax…still not bad.

    Couldn’t find the velveeta toppers.

  18. Tiff

I was able to get 6 of the Capri sun big pouches, 8 jello, and 9 country time mixes. Paid 21 cent which was tax. I had no issues and did everything separate transactions. Only thing is make sure they sub total first BC at first the 2.00 wouldn’t come off if they scan the coupon prior to hitting sub total. 1.00 automatically came off for the b2g1 Capri sun. My store was pretty much wiped of the Capri suns

    • Tiff

Forgot to add if you the jello/pudding for free: buy 4 @ .75 each = 3.00 minus 2.00 promo = 1.00 minus 1/2 printable makes them free

      • Tiff

        1.00/3 printable I mean lol

        • Tiff

6 Capri sun or kool aid 10 packs ,3 jello minus 3 1.00/2 Capri sun or kool aid, minus 1.00/3. = 4.25 ( should be) not too bad.

  19. Mel

I paid $11.75 for 25 items but I did have a hard time using coupons. I had a coupon for $2 off capri sun when you buy the kraft mac & cheese 5 pack and the cashier said I couldn’t use it because the capri sun was lower than $2 after the discount. He called the mgr. and he put it through.

  20. Trisha

Anyone else not able to find the capri sun coupon? Is it out? Thanks.

    • Chris

I couldn’t find them at my store at first, but I asked the cashier and she told me they were on the endcap. Go figure, I walked right by them without noticing they were there.

  21. axhilli

I had to dig though all my coupons but I did find one for the capri sun big pouch and one for the country time lemonade. I got 3 of the capri sun big pouchs and 3 (2qt) country time lemonade’s for $0.05 total oop. Thanks so much for posting this I’m saving the lemonade for my MorningStar Farms House Party!!

I wish I had more coupons the 2 dollar generals near me have tons of both left in stock at 6:30pm CST.

    • Candice

Someone cleared the shelf for the country time in my area. They left me the half lemonade and half tea Country Time, Yuck. I went ahead and bought it and will exchange it when they get more in.

  22. Jenn

Score! I bought 6 Country Time strawberry lemonade, 12 jello/pudding and paid 14 cents!!!! Thanks Collin! Yes…..there was plenty more. I didn’t clear the shelf. 🙂

  23. Angie

I got 81 of the Kool-Aid/Country Time Juice Mixes today. I saved $81 or 100%. I only paid taxes of $1.22. I went to several stores, so I didn’t clear any shelves!

  24. Charisse

I tried to use the Kool-Aid and Capri-Sun 10 pk juice pouch manufacturer coupons and the register would not take them. The manager tried her key and it would not let her override. I have had many issues with trying to use coupons with an item that is on sale. They always tell me that I can’t do both. It is so frustrating.

  25. Candice

They were so nice. But what a headache to coupon using the Kraft sale. When you use a coupon it’s only taking off so much for each item. Be careful and watch and make sure it takes off the $2 for each 3 items you buy, using a coupon it was taking the extra to make it to the $2. It was very confusing. I double checked luckily and saved $6.50 off my bill, but it was such a headache.

  26. edy

I got my country time at kroger buy 10 canister take 5dlrs off for every 10 items .79 cents each after 5 1/2 cpns pay .29 per canister thanks for posting! Enjoy reading and learning from everyone!

  27. Sarai

I bought nine of the caprisun for only $3.21 and I didn’t have no more coupons for them. So sad but oh well. Thanks for posting the deal.

  28. Tonia

I got 15 Capri Sun big pouches, 10 Country Time Lemonade pitcher packets, 6 Jello Instant pudding boxes and 4 bottles of Head and Shoulders. Used the following coupons 5- Buy 2 get 1 Capri Sun, 5- $1/2 Country Time, 2- $1/3 Jello Pudding and 2- $5/2 Head and Shoulders. Dollar General paid me $2.15 🙂 Didn’t know they would give cash back but am thrilled!

  29. Christine

A helpful hint. At the end of your transaction before you give your coupons to the cashier have them hit the total button. It will take off all of the discounts first. Then give them the coupons.

  30. Amanda

Hi, I am a fairly new cashier at dollar general. I know nothing about couponing lol….Yesterday a lady bought 18 capri sun big pouches, after the store sale discounts her total was 6 dollars and some change, then she used 6 coupons and her total was then 54 cents!!! I was amazed! i had no problem with the coupons or her purchase, but now i’m on the search of how to get coupons in multiple quantities like that so i can use them for my children who love capri sun, lol. Although the sale ended yesterday i am sure it will come around again soon as it is summertime.

    • Stephanie

Amanda the sell still goes until the 7th. Some people buy large quantity coupons on ebay.

      • Amanda

Well the coupons she used expired 6/30, the sale may still be going at the store i will check today when i go in at 4pm. but that wouldnt make it sooo cheap with just the store sale, cheaper than full price yes lol…….without coupons the 18 pouches was 6.54 i believe. still a great deal. I apologize if i am wrong on the store sale, i will correct it when i get off work tonight.

      • Amanda

I will check out the coupons on ebay………. oh and about an hour after that ladies sale another lady bought our last 7 sunday papers. I asked her y she needed so many papers and she said for coupon-ing, i had never seen anyone do that, and now i have read that people buy 10 to 20 if they can just for coupons. So i’m picking up little tips as i go. I have 4 boys and married sooo saving money is definitely a need in my house lol

  31. patti

i have so much trouble at my DG with internet coupons. Seems they dont like those to well

  32. lisacamille02

I combined the Family Dollar and Dollar General sales. I paid $.04 an item for 12 Jello’s, 1 Miracle Whip & 5 Capri Suns. Could have been a MONEY MAKER if DG would have accepted their own store coupon. Oh well, I only paid $.75 for 18 items!

  33. lisacamille02

I combined the Dollar General and the Family Dollar sales. I paid $.75 for 18 items including 5 Capri Suns, 12 Jello’s and 1 Miracle Whip. Could have been a MONEY MAKER if DG had accepted their own coupon! Oh well…$.04 each for 18 items is pretty good! Go to http://www.couponingintheq.com if you want details.

  34. Deana

This was horrible at DG! Their flyer was expired 6/29, no new one, and no one knew the deal. Worked my list, charged me double what I was supposed to be charged. Manager had to rering everything totaling a different price and said “What ya thinking? We just gonna give this to ya for free?” Oh my! Would not accept my mqs at all. Left everything…so not worth arguing over, even though it took almost an hour.

  35. Juanita

I spent an HOUR at Dollar General today with my KIDS!! I spent time in store working out the totals with the various coupons I had and had to adjust since I couldn’t find the velveeta toppers. I had printed Dollar General store coupons from their website for Kraft products. They wouldn’t take their own coupons! The only coupon that scanned was a manufacturer coupon for $1 off and it only took off 68 cents!!!! I ended up only buying 3 jello puddings.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE shopping trip! Wish I would have seen all of these posts before I went and saved myself time and avoided the hassle!

  36. Kami

I tried today to get 12 jello puddings, 1 bag of ice, and two sodas. The total without any coupons was $4.52 (includeing tax). Then I gave them four $1/3 jello coupons wich the register would only take one coupon and would not accept the rest, the manager came over and tried and then proceeded to tell me that I would have to do the jello puddings in seperate transactions in order to give me the discount and be able to use my coupons. So she voided out the transaction and then rang up three jello puddings seperately and then scanned the coupon and then told me my total was $1.03. I tried with no luck to explain to her that the total was not correct and that it should be .25 cents after the promo even without the coupon. After talking to her for a few minutes she still tried to tell me that the $1.03 was correct by her math and that you cannot combine coupons with the take $2 off sale. So I gave up and had her void yet another transaction and left. What really bugs me is that my mom was just there at the same store the other day and had no problems. Uggg I will just have to stick to double couponing at my local grocery stores.
