I was able to join Star Dash, but I have to earn 10 stars to get a $5 eGift and 20 stars to get a $10 eGift. I don’t go to Starbucks much, so I might be a “less valuable” customer. 🙂

    • Yahaira

Haha. My offer is the same as yours, 10 for $5 and 20 for $10, but I go every week day! So I guess, they knew I’d rack up those stars quickly.

    • kelly

mine is the same as yours

    • Candice

I got the same offer! 10 for $5 and 20 for $10. I am a “Gold” member and go to Starbucks several times a week.

  2. Catie

How do you know if you are one of the select members?

    • JD

You will see the image with the stars as shown in this post when you log into your account.

  3. Tina

Does anyone know how the stars work? Like each purchase is one star? or one star per day?

    • Holly

      Each transaction is a star.

  4. Tina

@Catie they will email you. If you are the select few who only need 6 stars for the $5 gc. If you aren’t selected then you just log onto your starbucks rewards page and see, usually it means you need 10 stars to get the $5 gc.

    • Catie

Thank you! will check my account! 🙂

Every time I go I buy 3 coffee’s. I just found out I only get 1 star per transaction. So pay for each separate. It says I only have 12 stars when in fact I should have 36. So bummed 🙁 Now I know. Hope this helps.

    • Monica

I did not know that either. Now DH and I will each use our own cards separately if we go together.

    • Steffers

It sucks I agree, but if you ask to ring your items in separately then you can get all stars- just make sure to TIP!!! There are days where I have 6 stars from going In the morning for 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches and then again in the afternoon for 2 more coffees.

    • Amy

I figured that out awhile ago, when I first got my gold card. When they recently changed their gold star rewards program (no free adds and 12 stars to a free drink instead of 15), they also changed their policy on transactions. I’ve found that the separate transactions have to be around 15 minutes apart on the same card to get a star for each transaction. If the transactions are too close together,

My husband goes daily and received the 10 and 20 star deal (he’s gold)… I rarely use my card (not gold) and got the better deal. The offers I get are always better than the ones he receives… I guess Starbucks knows he will go anyway, so no point in giving him any special deals? Not really fair to their good customers though. When things like this happen, we just switch cards during the dash to make the most for our money

    • Megan

I didn’t read your comment before I posted – ITA.

  7. Megan

Wow, I actually got an email about this one!!! I haven’t gotten an invite for the last handful of these promos, I was starting to get annoyed. And you know what I bet it was? I haven’t been able to make it over there for a few weeks, and before that when the others were running I was going a few times a week. It’s a ploy to get you back I bet.

  8. irene

That’s one cup a day just to earn $5! Are you guys visit that often? As couponers, you could make about 50 cups for $5 worth of beans!!

    • Tharen

I actually am not a die hard Starbucks fan, but as a teacher, I get lots of Starbucks gift cards during the holidays. I registered my cards from last year, and still have over $20 to spend. By using this deal, I can use my gift cards in the next two weeks to keep a credit on the card even longer 🙂

  9. Amie

I go often! And I didn’t get this offer, nor did I get it last time they did a promo.

  10. Kelly

When my kids go with me, if they want a hot chocolate I always order each one separately. It may take a bit longer, but I’d rather get 3 stars instead of one. 😉

  11. Becka

I got the deal but I don’t go to Starbucks very often – cheaper to boil hot water and make tea at home (quicker too depending on the drive through line!)

  12. Laurie

I signed up for this last time, earned the 6 stars, and never received the gift card. I emailed them twice and have not yet received a response from them. 🙁

    • Theresa

Call customer service directly …. This happened to me on the last star dash and they credited my card immediately 🙂

  13. Tina

I agree! i think they try to lure you back. So I don’t go often and I got the better deal than my husband who goes once or twice a week.

    • Steffers

Anyone who is a star member should be able to join. It isn’t based on how often you go it’s based on your registered card. I go daily and sometimes more then once a day and I get the same promos as those of you who go less often. And yes this is worth it as a couponer cause I go no matter what so to get $10 for my normal purchases is an added bonus.

  14. irene

Wow, not only did I get this offer, there’s another email with subject line: Nice job! You’ve earned a Bonus Star. It contains a unique code to earn another star! It came right after the email for this dash offer.

    • JD

Did you do the Grocery Challenge? AFAIK, that bonus star was the bonus star for the first Starbucks coffee bag purchase. At least in my case it was as it came with the emails about the free tall coffee and free food item for the Grocery Challenge.

  15. dealzgurl

I got the 10 stars for a $5 gc deal too. I simply don’t go there enough so I won’t make it. The closest Starbucks to me is in a Target store. Does that count too?

    • JD

Purchases at Starbucks within Targets will earn you a star for each transaction.

    • Theresa

Purchases at my target count ….. But as a rewards member you can’t use your free rewards at mine only at a regular Starbucks location

  16. Autumn

I don’t see the star dash on my account, I only see the $250 sweepstakes entry 🙁

    • Rachel

Same here! I got a text saying to join, but when I log in I don’t see it anywhere

  17. Amy

I got the 10 stars for $5 and 20 for $20. I may be able to earn $5, but I’m sure I won’t earn $20. I guess I go too much, but not enough 🙂

  18. dezi

So a transaction can be anything or does it have to be a drink?

  19. ryoko

my email say that I have to earn 10 stars to get $5 and 20 stars to get $10… is it normal ? is that because i live in hawaii???

  20. Presea Aurion

does it count toward star dash the bag coffee purchase or only drink purchase prepared at locations?

  21. Trish

I want them to come out with the holiday sticker cards again, so I can get twice the free coffees, pay with my gold card and get a sticker for my holiday card! I love the holiday drinks
