I am sure that I am not the only one with damaged unusable pans. Recently, I spent $20 to ship them back to Calphalon. My brother and mother have both done this and received new pans. So I sent mine off and in less than a month I too received new pans. The pans are priced at over $200 on Amazon. So before you throw out old pots and pans – check the warranty. I think it is very hip for Calphalon to stand behind their products and $20 shipping is a lot less than buying new pans.

Have you ever taken advantage of a Lifetime Warranty offer from a company? Please share!

Yes, I have with tervis tumblers. Very easy to return and get a brand new cup back! Also, even if a company doesn’t have a warranty, it is still a good idea to e-mail the company. I did this just recently with Clorox. Bought a mop and within 2 uses, the roller had stopped squeezing the sponge and kept getting out of alignment. I e-mailed the company, said I didn’t think this was worth my money, and they mailed me a check for what I paid for the mop! I’ve done this with toy companies as well. Mattell sent me a BRAND NEW IN THE BOX Little Mommy Dr. Mommy when I complained that after less than a year of owning the toy, she stopped “talking.” Most companies are willing to work with you in order to keep a happy customer.

    • Dayna

Thanks for the tip. My coworker told me today about the Tervis tumblers because I was complaining about the condensation from my water bottles!

  2. Michelle

Tervis Tumbler also has a lifetime warranty. I recently sent 5 tumblers back to them that were starting to crack and received 5 new ones for free!! I had to pay for the shipping to them and that was it. 🙂

    • Nicole

Do you have to have the receipt or anything? or just send them back? How awesome though!

      • Michelle

No, I did not need the receipt. 🙂 They will replace with the same design unless the design has been discontinued — then you can choose. I’ve actually done in twice over the last couple of years. 🙂

        • Erica

If you bought them from Bed Bath and Beyond they will replace the Turvis for you, no matter how long ago you bought it!

        • Emily

          Are the lids under warranty?

          • Jeannie

            No, the lids are not

            • Emily

Darn mine cracked yesterday. Thanks for the reply!

  3. sherry

I bought some of these pans at the outlet for 80% off, I absolutely love them, the best pans ive ever owned!!! even at 80% off they were still a bit pricey, but well worth it!!

  4. Krissy

We also have Calphalon, they are GREAT! I recently returned a few pans and I did make sure they knew I used Pam cooking spray (apparently a no-no with these) and left burn marks and ruined the non stick coating- but they still honored the return and gave me 2 new pans! I bought these through bed bath and beyond and they gave me the new set immediatly no questions asked. Great customer service!

    • Jen

Agreed, Bed Bath and Beyond & Calphalon are wonderful. I returned the set I had gotten 6 years ago as a wedding gift because the non stick coating was wearing off. I got a $400 store credit, no questions asked! I was able to buy a beautiful stainless set (with a coupon) and still had a ton left over!

      • Rachel

Hi Jen! I’m in the same situation (when did you get married!? 5/17/08 for us!) and am so nervous about returning it to BBB. Did you just lug everything into the store and go to customer service? They’ve always been incredibly nice, but this would be a HUGE return!

        • Rachel

I just saw you replied to my earlier comment. Any extra information would be wonderful though!

  5. Shelley

Yes! Levi’s Jeans! You send them in and they inspect them and decide if they “qualify” and if so, they send you a new pair. It is at their disgression…but it’s been worth doing it everytime we’ve done it!

  6. Kris

We’ve returned Analon pans twice, and they always send us new ones. Gotta love a company who truly stands behind their product!

  7. Jennifer G.

Question about the Calphalon (I agree they’re awesome…some of my favorite)…some of mine definitely do not work well anymore for cooking things that will stick to the pan. I don’t recall whether it’s from some scratches or if the nonstick coating has just worn down…what qualifies for replacement? Thanks!

    • Krissy

Hi Jennifer, just let them know they are worn down from normal wear and tear and the non sticks not like it used to be. They will replace them :). Hth!

  8. Becky

Cutco knives are fantastic, they even replaced my block once. They will sharpen or replace damaged knives for $8. I have also returned Tervis cups.

  9. Julie

I am going to call about my Wolfgang Puck pans. The metal screws are warping and bubbling. It would be awesome if they would replace them.

    • Ketsy

Mine did that. I didn’t bother but the bolt area seem to oxidize when making beans or stew. 🙁

  10. SK

I have got new feeding bottles from Dr. Browns when I complained that the set I had leaks. They send me postage paid box to send back the old ones. Love, companies who stand by their products and loyal customers. On the other hand ‘Forever sharp’ knives, the one who sells there stuff through Sams Club etc by doing shows, I had emailed them saying that after 3-4 years of use there ‘forever sharp’ knives are not so sharp anymore, never heard back from them. I didn’t even ask for replacement, I asked them if I could do anything about it, ie.. use a certain knife sharpener or technique etc, no response. I try to save my receipts and boxes of almost everything I buy, yes my basement is a mess full of boxes but then I have they have come in handy. I have exchanged a Cast Iron Dutch oven almost after 7 months from Kohls.

    • Donna P

Doesn’t Sams have the same return policy as Costco? If so maybe you can take them back to Sams. Not sure if the policy is the same for their “roadshow” items but would be worth trying.

      • SK

Humm.. I didnt think about that. And we recently decided to end our membership. We are just a family of 4, the kids are 2 and 4. Starting to new fewer diapers and I loved SAMS club brand diapers. But somehow I don’t think I even save enough money there to cover membership fees… sorry off topic. But thanks for the suggestion, someone else reading this might find it useful

    • Dayna

It seems that the companies that do demos at stores aren’t very good at responding to customer complaints. I bought a body comfort hot/cold wrap and was reading reviews AFTER I bought it and a lot of customers talked about contacting the company for faulty products and they never received a response.

  11. Jennifer

Nike does the same thing. My son had a pair of sneakers that had the sole come apart within only a few months, and he only wore them to school and on weekends, not for sports or anything major so it was disappointing that I spend good money on a good brand and have them fall apart so quickly. They started a claim and told me to mail them back for inspection.

  12. Cristine

For those who have returned to calphalon- how did you return? Just send to them? (I would need their address). I have a pan right now that seriously needs to be replaced, but when I tried to figure out how to send it back, I could not find the right information.

      • Cristine

Thanks- I knew there was a page like this for them, but couldn’t find it when I was looking. I was able to make the request and print the mailing label. Now to find a box….

    • Krissy

I would call their customer service #. I did my return through bed bath and beyond, where I bought them. But they just mailed them to caphalon.

      • Rachel

Did you just get a new set Krissy? What happened? (The process of what happened for your return!)

        • Jen

I returned to BBB too and got a hefty store credit. I bought a new set & had credit left over. They were fantastic.

  13. debbie

All-Clad also has a Lifetime warranty. I returned one of the pots due to sharp edge, and they sent me a new one.

  14. Stephanie

All Clad has a replaced a couple of my pans as well. They are very expensive and my favorite so I was extremely happy when they replaced them! Also – I have an experience where Energizer batteries leaked and ruined a Wii controller. Energizer covered the cost of a new controller.

  15. Gail

Moen faucets also is great about their lifetime warranty we had a leaky under sink tubing we submitted info online and they shipped new parts within a week. Love great companies like that!

    • Tara

Awesome, the master bath’s faucet has eroded some of the metal off that’s closet to the sink. I am going to call them in the AM. Thanks for the tip!

    • Christina

Moen sent me a brand new sprayer…the tubing cracked about a year after I started using it. AWESOME customer service!!

      • marie

We only buy Moen anything faucet/plumbing wise just for this. They are awesome for replacing parts and yes for free.

    • Julie

My experience is that this doesn’t transfer to a new owner of a home.

  16. stacy

Just called Moen yesterday about my faucet dripping Moen has a lifetime warranty on drips and most parts of their faucets, they are sending me out a new cartridge and a new p ump for my soap dispenser

    • krissy

This is great, thank you! I have a Moen faucet and it must be loose, I have to tilt the handle down hard in order to not get it to leak. I’ll contact them.

  17. Janice Hammack

I have four children and when they were all in school and needed backpacks, one of them wanted a JANSPORT backpack and I was hesitant because of the initial cost, but because they had a lifetime warranty, we decided to give it a try. They will either repair or replace, depending on the situation. It turned out to be one of the best things I ever did!!! It wasn’t that much to ship and well worth it!!!

    • Megan

I agree 100%!!! I have had my Jansport for 20 years now, I used it in middle school, high school, college and then as my diaper bag for three kids! I’ve sent it to “camp” to be repaired only once and when I did, they fixed what was wrong plus they put new pulls on the zippers and reinforced all the inside seams. What an AMAZING company! I am buying all of my sons Jansport bags starting in kindergarten and hope to have them use them all through school.

  18. Loreen

The Pampered Chef has a lifetime guarantee on their stainless and executive (non-stick) cookware as long as the use and care guidelines are followed. And, Pam leaves that sticky yellow residue that stays in your cookware and bakeware.

  19. Sheila

I had a large food storage container from Tupperware that dry rotted and totally disintigrated into itty bitty pieces. When I returned it, the sales lady said tupperware no longer had a product like that so she replaced it with a drink pitcher. Really? Oh well, at least I have something. I also have some lids from some other tupperware containers that are all broken up-I hesitate to return them after the last try. Not here to trash talk tupperware but I have had the worst luck with the stuff-now I stick to cheaper plastic brands.

    • nel

Hi Sheila, I’m a Tupperware lady. If you tried to replace something they no longer make or have in stock, you should receive a credit for the item—sometimes with pieces that are quite a bit older it isn’t much but it is still credit and then you should be able to choose a new item to apply the credit towards. You would also need to cover shipping but for many people it is worth it. I usually put several orders for replacements together to make super cheap for my customers, but each rep does it differently. If you or anyone would like to contact me about this, you can message me through my fb page, Rochester, MN Tupperware.

      Limited Lifetime Warranty
Tupperware® Brand products are warranted by Tupperware against chipping, cracking, breaking or peeling under normal non-commercial use for the lifetime of the product. Please call Customer Care toll-free at 1(800) 366-3800 for free replacement. If, due to unavailability, actual product replacement cannot be made, comparable product replacement will be made, or credit towards future purchases of Tupperware® brand products will be given. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Warranty replacement items or parts will be subject to shipping and handling charges and applicable taxes.

    • shannon

You should have gotten a credit towards something else. Obviously they can’t carry every single item. As long as it has the Tupperware logo on it, it will be replaced forever. When I was a Tupperware rep, I replaced items that were over 40 years old. Their items are more expensive but if you look at the cost over decades, it’s a great deal.

      • marie

Rubbermaid is great when you have an issue with one of their products also.

    • Sheila

It’s been about 20 years since I bought anything but my canister crumbled to dust maybe 10 years after I bought it. All the items that are falling to pieces are large items that I really don’t use that often-so it’s weird that they are the ones that are falling to pieces. I originally bought them because of the life time warranty but I just can’t reconcile paying the prices anymore with the experiences I have had. I think I’m just very unlucky with tupperware.

  20. Amanda

I used to work for Timberland and we once had a gentleman bring in a pair of boots that had rarely been worn, but the soles were deteriorating because they had sat in the bottom of the closet for 20 YEARS! Timberland replaced them no questions asked.

    • Dee

Timberland replaces boots that fall apart? I have a pair that is just not comfortable because the tongue on one boot just is weird,,,goes off to the side and I constantly have to fix it..,I’d love to replace them for ones that don’t do that. I think it’s stitched weird or something, other boot is fine.

  21. shelly

Jansport backpacks have a lifetime warranty as well. they will fix a hole or if it is in a place that is not fixable they will replace it.

  22. Kim

It’s always worth asking! Just a couple days ago I took back an enameled dutch oven to Kohl’s. I’ve had it for 11 months and a big chip came out of the enamel last week. They swapped it out for brand new right there in the store!

  23. Ana Shirkey

I would love to get my Pampered Chef they really look very bad, my consultant passed away and they customer service is no very friendly.
Great customer service at Jansport, got a new backpack after the backback handle broke.

    • Loreen

I would try calling The Pampered Chef again – 888-687-2433. If the person you first talk to isn’t willing to help, ask to speak with a supervisor. Not all of the older cookware had the lifetime guarantee, but the newer executive (non-stick) and stainless does. I am a consultant and if there is anything I can do to help you, I’d be happy to try.

  24. Nicki Ruiz-Call

This is a great solution, if it was that easy with everything. I have a garage full of items anywhere from a couple weeks old, to less than a year that either stopped working as intended or fell apart, or were just broken out of the box. I’ve ended up throwing much more away. In all but a few extremely rare occasions, any time I contact the company to request a replacement or some recompense, they want me to return the items, with a copy of the original receipt and original packaging. I have a busy household and am always combating clutter, so I don’t have most of my original receipts, and even the ones for high ticket items end up scanned and filed (rarely accepted as proof of purchase). It would be nice if all these companies were willing to at least consider standing behind their products, but in this era of planned obsolescence, they just don’t.

  25. rachel

LL Bean totally rocks about returning/exchanging anything of theirs, definitely worth the extra money to buy from them.

    • Carolyn

I agree! Love their backpacks 🙂 My son’s backpack straps started to tear a bit a couple of months after we bought it. Mailed it back and they replaced it and sent me a check for what I spent on shipping it!

  26. FuzzyPeach73

Eddie Bauer is awesome with this! I went shopping for a new sling pack/purse, since my 5-year-old one was well loved and fraying–it goes with me EVERYWHERE. The sales lady asked why I was getting a new one, and when I told her, she said, “Just trade the old one in and the new one is yours free!”

  27. Happymama

Although it’s not a lifetime warranty, my Kindle froze and never worked again. Because it within one year, Amazon sent me a new one! I received an email with a free shipping label which required me to return the broken one. They made it very easy and I was happy:)

  28. Jane

I bought the calphalon pans – 2 of them for $20 each from amazon.com at different times. I do not want to spend another $20 shipping them back to calphalon. I rather just go out and buy a new one.

    • K

I think she spent $20 to ship several pans back not just one or two. I imagine it would cost less to send one or two back.

  29. Megan

I love this post & discussion – thanks! Nordstrom is very very generous as well in taking back anything for just about any reason and no matter how long you’ve had it!

  30. Suzanne H

I am in awe about everyone getting new pans from Calphalon. I contacted them about the non-stick coming off of my pans and the only response I got was, “You must be using them incorrectly/with metal spoons, etc.” No, I don’t own metal spoons for that very reason. I should have asked for a manager. I have since thrown out several pots and will NEVER buy Calphalon again. SO not worth the $! On the other hand, my husband’s Kindle stopped working almost a year in and they gave him a new one. He also laughs at me b/c I have the same Jansport back pack that I’ve had since 9th grade (I’m 39, so 25 years!). I’ve sent it back 3 times – zipper the 1st 2 times – they fixed it and sent it back; the 3rd time the leather bottom was dry rotting. They just sent me a new one! Next up is sending back some of my Tervis cups although I’m kicking myself b/c I threw out 1 or 2 before I remembered that they have a lifetime guarantee!

  31. Ivy

Coach will do free repairs on handbags. “Coach products are made to ensure satisfaction and service for the natural life of the product. If, during its lifetime, your item should require repair, we offer a repair service for many of our products. There is a shipping and handling charge of $20 (plus tax, where applicable) for each item submitted for repair.”

    • Mourrene

Oh wow. Thanks for sharing. I didn’t know that.

    • Em

So does Louis Vuitton and the like- most high end purse companies will.

    • JJ

We bought my grandma a Coach purse for Mother’s Day a few years back. My uncles took her in there to buy her a new one recently, and she told the employee that the closure on her bag broke when she didn’t do anything to it. They gave her a replacement on the spot because they had a similar bag available!!

    • Amber

I’ve had great luck with Coach! The Coach store has given me a replacement credit of the value of my original bag (several times) when there was something they couldn’t fix- for example, once I had a bag where the decorative stitching was coming unraveled. I’d had the bag for over a year, but they just took the bag right there in the store and gave me store credit in the amount of the damaged bag’s original value- even though I told them I had bought the bag at a discount from Macy’s!

  32. Laurie

I did it with Scotts grass seed, they had a no quibble guarantee, and I did not get any new grass from a $50 bag of EZ-Seed. They refunded me the full purchase price. I would have rather had grass, but I was glad to get my money back

    • Rebe

I also just got my money refunded by Scotts. The seeds never grew although we followed the instructions.

  33. Amanda

Anyone tried it with Rachael Raypans? I just emailed them and haven’t got a response yet. I bought the stainless steel pans 2 years ago and they are terrible. The paint scratches off and the first time I cooked peas in one of the pots it stained it and I never was able to get it off. I asked if they would exchange them for a set with different coating. I’m waiting for the response but I just wanted to see if anyone else has done this with Rachael Ray pans before?

  34. Mimi

Totes umbrella has a lifetime warranty and they’re very good about replacing broken ones with new ones.

This is not from personal experience but a friend of mine has had good experience with getting her LL Bean backpack replaced when her old one that she’s used for over 10 years had a broken zipper.

    • nel

good to know about the umbrellas!

    • IrishMom

Thanks about the umbrella, i have a broken one in my car right now!!

    • Gina

Thanks! I bought a Totes umbrella a couple years ago and it’s broken. I will be returning it!

    • JJ

I have a smaller totes umbrella that I had throughout college that is on its last legs, so I grabbed a huge totes umbrella to replace it last week. I saw the lifetime warranty and knew it’d be worth the cost (I made sure to keep the receipt)!

  35. Christina

One time my Faberware can opener that I had a year or two wouldn’t work anymore…not sure why. I contacted them and they sent me a new one that was WAYYYY better than the one I had!

  36. rita

I can vouch for costco’s warranty no matter what the product is you can return it to them any point of time n they will return you your money!!

    • Jessica

Mostly true but they have a stricter policy on electronics. I have a friend who returned a well used couch and they just took it back! Years later!

  37. Claudia P.

I have a Sunbeam heating pad that has been replaced several times. They have a lifetime warranty and I give them the numbers off it, and they just ship me a new one!\

  38. Kathy

Thanks, after reading the comments, I decided to go call Delta faucet and see what documentation I needed for them to fix two of our faucets that are leaking. He said don’t worry about that, just answer some questions for me so that I can figure out what you need. They are sending the repair parts free of charge with directions. BUT he said if we are not comfortable with plumbing to call them when the parts get here and they will talk us through the fixes. Awesome customer service.

  39. melissa

I tried returning my Paula deen pans about two months after I got them and they would not return or replace

    • Maria

Who did you contact? The store you bought them from?

  40. HappyThrifter

Croton watch company will repair or replace all watches under lifetime warranty – just check the warranty leaflet in the Croton box your watch came with. Easy to contact and do business with.

  41. Holly C.

I recently sent in a Henkel knife that had a rust spot in the middle of the blade. We received the set for our wedding 10 years ago. They have always been well cared for and stored properly. They sent out a new knife within a few weeks and apologized for a “flaw in the craftsmanship” Love companies that stand behind their products!

    • Dee

Wow, thanks for sharing! We’re looking to get a nice set of knives to replace the “ok” ones we have now and I will definitely look into that brand now! 🙂

  42. Kelli t

I always thought the black stuff is seasoning? It’s not ok to eat? I purchased as ‘preseasoned’.

  43. Amyr

Otterbox has great customer service and replaced my Otterbox iPhone case for free since it cracked within a year. I bought it from Amazon and called Otterbox. They didn’t need a receipt.

    • Tonya

Same here, though it was more than a year. Great customer service and great products!

  44. Diane

A friend of mine had the zippers break on 2 Columbia jackets. He was able to mail them to the company to get the zippers replaced free of charge.

  45. Leslie

LIFEPROOF cases has great customer service. My iPhone 5 case didn’t allow me to hit the screen because of the gap between the case and screen. They asked for a # off the case and in less than a week I had a brand new case. Didn’t have to send the old one back or anything.

  46. katie f.

Oh MAN! I JUST got rid of a $200+ Calphalon stock pot that had scratched Teflon (very unsafe for cooking – check your pots and pans). I hope someone at the recycling center is a lot smarter than me…

  47. latrice

Great tip I am going to send in my Calphalon pan…

  48. Stephanie

I heard from a friend about Bed Bath and Beyond’s return policy and I tried it myself. I had an old Bissell steam cleaner (about 10 years old) that didn’t work anymore. I didn’t buy it at Bed Bath and Beyond but I brought it in. They looked in their system and said we don’t sell this machine and we never have (obviously since I didn’t buy it there) but they still gave me a brand new comparable Bissell machine for free! (I actually just used the credit towards a bigger/better Bissell). I don’t know if this is all BBBs or just the one that is close to my house. NOTE: I called first and told the Manager about it and that I didn’t buy it there and she said to bring it in and they would help me out.

    • Emily

Bed Bath has the best return policy ever! It always cracks me up to walk back to the ‘as is’ section and check out the things people have returned that they don’t even sell there. I returned a really expensive Wilton Armetele service piece we got for our wedding from there that looked corroded and they shipped me a new one for free. Great customer service! I’m not brave enough to take in things I didn’t buy there even though it is their policy to take anything back 🙂

  49. Heather

Dr. Martens were awesome I had a pair of sandals that I bought off of ebay they were brand new still in box but an older style never worn and when I got them and wore them a couple of times the inner sole started to fall apart and I contacted them they had me mail them back, inspected them found them to be faulty and replaced them with another shoe of comparable price since my style was discontinued

  50. CW

A funny story but shows excellent return/replacement/customer service: For my wedding I got over $500 of bathroom items for two bathrooms. I think the type/brand/design was “Saturn” at Bed Bath and Beyond. So about 13 months after we got them, I noticed that my husband’s entire set (toothbrush holder, cup, etc) was eroding away. I started to yell at my newlywed husband for destroying his expensive bath stuff because mine, which were feet away from his, were fine. So one day I go to customer service with friend and we are purchasing a joint wedding gift for another friend. The customer service person hears me telling my story about how my newlywed husband absolutely destroyed our bath stuff that was on our BB&Beyond wedding registry. She then says:

“Oh! Did you say Saturn???? That whole line is DEFECTIVE and RECALLED! Bring it all back and we will give you credit for every piece!!!!”

The total of all the pieces I brought back was $500 plus tax. They took back every darn piece, actually offered me a refund, but I chose bath accessories that were cheaper for both bathrooms and a ton of other stuff including a 6 body jet shower. It was a great shopping spree!

Bed Bath and Beyond was not only amazing, they saved my husbands’ rear end, and his newlywed wife felt soooo bad about it… LOL 🙂
