  After five years of only using pyrex for baking and glass storage of food I had one explode. Horrible mess in my oven as it was my first home made apple crumb cobbler of the season! There is still glass in places I cant get to in my oven. Im just glad it wasnt stitting on the table infront of my family. I havent baked with pyrex since. I will say that I have since read about this happening more and more even with dishes that were room temp or cold. Also has been reported happening with Anchor Hocking ware too.

  Hi Rae, I know this doesn’t apply to the pan that cracked in the oven, but did you know that when you take your pyrex out of the oven, you should NEVER put it on your burners? I didn’t know this until Collin posted a free pyrex pot holder a while ago. You are supposed to place it on a pot holder or something like that (a towel, trivet, etc). I’m guessing the same holds true with anchor hocking.
  Did pyrex ever replace your baking dish or refund your money?

  Ha ha “crack” no hun it exploded no piece bigger than a quarter! Yes Im familiar with the rules of using glass bakeware. No I have not contacted Pyrex because I am nixing their pans from my kitchen as a quick net search turned up the fact that this is becoming more common. Its also really jard to find a customer contact for pyrex pther than their facebook. Im going to get stoneware instead a lot of the same rules as far as safe handling but they can tolerate higher temps than clear glass.

  I’ll also add that with as many people use glass everyday and the low number of glassware that shatters on its own, it is unlikely to happen to everyone. I wont be using it though because I would rather not clean a mess like that again.

    Hoping the 2 qt fits in my new waring toaster oven (got it for $22.49 on amazon on Monday after watching it for 6 months!). If not, we do have a regular oven *smile*. Also those bowls would be a great gift filled with a salad for new parents or a sick friend. Got two for just such a time! Thanks Colin. You rock!

Be sure to tell them you had the 20% off code AS WELL AS free shipping.
