This deal has become a PUBLIC RELATIONS NIGHTMARE FOR THE CVS HOUSTON, TX area stores! The online weekly ad CLEARLY posts this as a valid deal, but I went to 5 different CVS stores (along Westheimer Rd) and also Kirby Rd, and managers are stating that they were sent an email stating not to issue the card. Cashiers were gleefully declining to honor this deal because of this email. The cards are in the stores, but supposedly the staff were told to pull them off the shelves. All of the cashiers I spoke to stated that people were calling and coming in asking for the card all day long. If this deal is not being honored in the Houston metro area, then pull the ad from the ‘My Weekly Ads’ for the stores that I frequent in the area. I am reporting this to the state attorney general as false advertising, and I suggest that others in the Houston metro area do the same! It is ridiculous to advertise and then refuse to honor the deal!
I disagree, because good cashier at my store said corporate told them to except no mater how far expired they are! Then they came back and said x amount of weeks, put by the time they told them x amount of weeks, the customers where told and there is nothing to could do because the customers where already told that. Plus, if a SM knows you have more than one card the is telling the other cashiers to give out more cards if a good deal is going on and limit of one, I don’t see it is a problem. With the new system, it is reconizing a printable CVS coupon as a MF and I don’t see why they should be able to push it through, when it is a CVS coupon! I have 6 cards, and buy a lot of stuff, I one, give it to people who are in need of it (Friends) or Two, sell it to for a cheap price or 3, use it, or last use the stuff as Christmas presents!

The cashier said that corporate office said exect any kind of cvs coupon expired no may if days, months, years expired. Then corporate came back and said don’t do that. By the time they did that all customers at my cvs was told and now that cvs can’t go back on what they told the customers!
Wondering how to use this card?! I tried to use it by entering the pin at cvs and using it as debit and it wouldn’t let me. Just tried to link it to my paypal and there isn’t a 3 digit cvv code on it. I just want to use the full balance and be done with it!
There is a 3 digit CW code on the back of the card located at the far right with a box around it. You set up the pin number when you activate the card online otherwise it will not work as a debit card. hth
I just did this twice in Orlando. I activated the cards w/ a PIN & bought a bunch of $10 gift cards at Target – with each transaction I put $10 on a GC & requested $40 cash back…. Both cards are now a zero balance! LOVE this deal 🙂

I went looking for this deal in the Oviedo/UCF area Sunday morning, and I didn’t see a single card on the shelves or any sign they ever had a spot. Asking the clerks about the deal pretty much yielded a different answer at every store: We haven’t had those in stock for weeks/We just ran out (she tells me thirty minutes after the store opened)/We were told to stop selling them because of bugs on PayPal’s end/We aren’t one of the stores running that promotion (followed by That must be a typo after I pull up the online ad for his particular store on my iPhone)

No, you must activate it first. There is a two step process to activate….one at CVS and the other online or telephone. I just tried the allpoint ATM at my CVS. I don’t want to be charged another $4.95 so I am going to cash it out….within 36hrs…as I have been told. And they had MANY cards left!! Mount Sterling, KY.

Has anyone found an easy way to close the card or does anyone if the card has to be closed if there is a zero balance? I don’t want there to be fees racking up since my ssn is associated with it. Was on hold for over an hour and gave up.
Tara you can close the card online if you link it to your PayPal account. I liked doing this better because you get a confirmation screen saying it will be closed (which I screencapped with the date and time as proof in case anything happens down the road). I had to call for a different one and had to fight with them to give me a confirmation number.
The cashier at our local walgreens said the manager had her pull all of their paypal master cards because people were coming in and taking them without activating them. While I was waiting in line I saw a woman with her coupon binder interrupt the cashier during another transaction demanding to know if they had any. Not cool.i explained to the cashier about all the hoopla at CVS. Sometimes I’m embarrassed to be a couponer.

In Los Angeles too the CVS pulled the promotion because people are going in there and just stealing all the cards without activation and selling them to others, So we lose out because of those idiots…

Got 2 today in NJ and there were still so many left… at least 15. I was also eager to use my $100 in ECB’s while at the store so I don’t forget to use them (CVS isn’t super close to my house and I don’t shop there often) and they had buy one get one free fragrances. I bought myself my favorite.. D & G Light Blue, and got one FREE for my Aunt for Christmas. They are $65 each!!! Then I got myself some Olay for my stocking and I was out of there to go buy giftcards for my in-laws for Christmas with the $ on the card. Thanks so much for posting!

U have to call and cancel on the phone. It took a few minutes but I finally got through. I asked what if I didn’t cancel the card and she said there is a maintenance fee if the card is idol for $120 days.

Jealousy??? Or knowing her situation??? Does it matter?? The policy for CVS is ONE card per HOUSEHOLD. Not per person in the household – per HOUSEHOLD. I personally am thrilled I got 2, so I have zero jealousy. But, I definitely think it IS couponers who abuse the system that make it suck for others. For those who missed out because they simply were late to the store or their area didn’t get it – yep, it bites. But, for those who missed out by people who sucked the heck out of the deal (or any deal) because they hoard 4 cards – yep, they suck.

I did this in greencastle, indiana yesterday. On my receipt it states that card will activate within 24 hours. Called paypal multiple times and card will still not activate. Has anyone run Into this problem? Did anyone do this deal successfully in greencastle, indiana?
Call an speak with a customer rep. One of mine I did over the phone didn’t fully activate so the rep had to do it. The one I did online activated right away.

If you gave them your name and address they can either bill you or take it out of your paypal account if you have one.

I got 2 and my receipt shows limit reached now. I called to activate the card over the phone b/c I couldn’t get it to work online at all. After being on hold for 35 minutes, I finally got through. I told the rep that I wanted to activate my card, but I didn’t want to give my SS#. He said no problem it would just work like a gift card. I.E. I can’t reload it. I told him that was fine. He said once the balance was gone it would just be obsolete and I can throw it away. He indicated that there wouldn’t be any fees once the balance was zero. HTH those of you concerned about fees after a 0 balance. For hte record, mine is not linked to paypal or anything.

I went last night and had all kinds of problems getting the cash to load onto the paypal card. They asked me to come in this morning to work with the store manager. When I arrived this morning at 9:30 am CST, the manager said she had an email from corporate in her hand that the deal was ending early. The email didn’t say when, just earlier than advertised. She also had called someone (not sure if it was CVS or Paypal) and they told her PayPal had deactivated the ability to load cards last night for some reason, but was allowing them to be activated again. I purchased 2 cards and they activated fine, but I have no idea if it is still printing extra bucks. Last night the cashier tried to activate the cards 3 times, so my limit was reached. The manager just gave me the ebs that had printed last night originally, because the cashier had kept everything together.
Just an FYI that I was charged the $4.95 at CVS (total paid was $154.95) and after activation my balance is $145.05, so it ended up being $9.90 in fees. Still a great deal though.

Quick question…..I bought a card at cvs last night and loaded the $150. I haven’t done anything else, I didn’t go online or call the number or anything to activate it. Was wondering my mom now wants to do this deal so if I go to cvs can I pay credit with my $150 and she can use that for her card. My main question is can I use the card right away as a credit? I don’t think so. I think it needs to be activate online first to use it. I could be wrong though. I did use my first card to buy another (limit was 2 for me…check the bottom of your receipt to see if it says “limit reached.”) but I had to also pay $4.95 for the cost if the card and $4.95 to get the amount to $150. Then I quickly activated that card and got a Publix gift card online for $150. Hope they don’t take out the $4.95 maintenance fee from my Paypal acct. it’s still an awesome deal if they do!!

This happened to me this morning (the 26th). I activated my card at 10:00. At 11:30 my grocery purchase for $110. plus $40 cash back was declined. The sweet manager was on the phone with me to find out why and it turns out that the balance was now $145.05.

I just looked at my CVS weekly ad and the Paypal deal disappeared. It was there yesterday, I’m wondering if CVS killed the deal?
Strange, I looked yesterday and the deal was also gone but when I checked this morning it was back again? My CVS has plenty of them. Wish I could send them to everyone who can’t find one. Signs are still up this morning.
I went to one CVS on Sunday and I thought I saw the spot on the rack where the cards would have been, but I didn’t ask. Then yesterday I was at another store and asked. I tried using it online to get a $150 Publix gift card. I didn’t go online to activate it and Publix didn’t ask for a PIN….but…it didn’t work so I called and activated it. But because I purchased the Publix card within the hour after purchasing the master card, I didn’t get the maintenance fee taken out of the $150. But…I have a feeling it will somehow be charged to my Paypal acct. Ugh!!
I spent the $150 on my card yesterday and clicked “close acct.” it said it would take 1-3 days. I just logged back in and says balance $0.00 but says there’s a problem with my acct and to call. Does that mean its canceled?
