Honey BBQ Chicken Wings Hip2Save

The National Chicken Council estimated 1.35 Billion chicken wings — that’s right, Billion with a “B” and many of them honey BBQ wings — were going to be served up on the most recent Super Bowl Sunday (that saw the Philadelphia Eagles topple the New England Patriots)! If you’re searching for a winning wing recipe, check out these delicious baked honey BBQ wings! Making wings at home is very easy with this simple recipe, and the result is a thick, sweet, and smokey sauce with brilliant flavors and sticky texture. I recommend baking wings on a broiler pan so they crisp up well on both sides and cook evenly.

Honey BBQ Wings

(adapted from

18 chicken wings (raw, thawed)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 cup  barbecue sauce, preferably Hickory Smoke Flavor
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoons hot sauce (I love Sriracha sauce!)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

How to make chicken wings Hip2Save

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Wash, pat dry, and season the wings with the salt, garlic, pepper, cayenne, and paprika.
  • Spray a cookie sheet or broiler pan with cooking spray.
  • Place the wings in a single layer on the pan, and place in the oven.
  • Cook for 35-40 minutes, depending on the size of  the wings, turning once.

The sauce:

  • While the wings are baking, make the sauce by mixing all the sauce ingredients together.
  • When the wings are done baking, carefully dip them in the sauce, and place them back in the oven for another 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling, for the perfect honey BBQ wings.

Easy Honety BBQ Chicken Wings
When it comes to chicken wings, my husband is very picky, and he loved this recipe, especially because the texture was a little crispy and didn’t come out soggy. We reserved some of the sauce for dipping and it was excellent. Enjoy these honey BBQ wings, we did!

Did you know?

The National Chicken Council also tossed out some other fun facts about chicken wings. The 1.35 Billion represented an increase of 20 million wings. If each of those wings sold for a dollar, the $20 million dollars would have bought only 2 minutes of commercial time during the Super Bowl between Philadelphia and New England. The 1.35 Billion wings, if laid end-to-end, would stretch from Lincoln Financial field in Philly to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., 250 times … or three times around the world.
