My girls have been saving!!!!!!! Praying they don’t run out.

  2. Jessica

Hmm, my kids Kindles are both several years old and just not running as smoothly right now. I keep debating on this…

  3. Nc

Is this a pre-order price? I thought this was going to be the set price for this model?

    • Candice

It is! I don’t know why it keeps getting posted as a short time only price.

    • Candice

It is…meaning it is the set price. It will always be $49.99.

    • Lindsey

Yes, it confused me as well because this isn’t a limited time offer …. all the tech sites announced price will be $50 price point. However the buy 5 get 1 free may not last long so I did take advantage of that. Even for a lesser quality kindle fire, it’s a great deal!

  4. Kate

Not that I have $ just layin around but at this price point I can buy this as a back up tab or maybe a Xmas gift

Duress anyone know if the Google play store can be downloaded to this type tablet.

    • meg

My husband said he read that the Google Play store will not work on this. Amazon is sort of forcing you to use their store. While not a great user experience, it makes sense.

    • Candice

It does not work, but because of the memory card option, which is new to Fires, there will be ways to side load.

    • Emeraldlily

In the standard setup, No. However, you can “root” your kindle. I’d recommend getting a tech savvy person to do so though.

      • Elise

Doing this will void your warranty though.

  6. Kata

What will the normal price be?

    • tiara

      I think $65?

    • Candice

$50, where are people getting their info? I called and got an email and watched the video that all say $49.99.

      • tiara

Another site said $65. Just read $50 is always.

  7. Melissa

I did the 6 pack yesterday whoo Hoo!! 3 little ones, mom, nephew and sister all will be getting one.

I was planning to get one for my 3 little ones and everyone else wanted one so they paid for theirs and we all got $$ off! Great deal!

  8. Mandy

I know it’s not out yet, but does anyone know if Pokemon Go will work on it? That’s the only reason my son wants a tablet.

    • Shelly

If that game is on the Amazon app store then it will work.

  9. Heather

Are the Amazon Fire and the Kindle the same thing? I like all the features of this device but I want my son to be able to read books on this and listen to books on this. Anybody know? Sorry if this is a stupid question….there are just so many pieces of technology coming out like this with different names and variations on the original product that it CONFUSES ME!

    • Sara

I was wondering pretty much the same thing. Does anyone know if it has the parental controls, where you can restrict game time but have unlimited reading time?

      • Kim

Yes it has freetime which can do that or even as specific as a x amount of time reading goal must be met before game play then no more than x minutes of games and unlimited books and or same limits for videos. Great with the new Disney movie merger

    • Karin K

Kindle just an e reader. Fire is reader and Wi Fi enabled. It can do so much more for a great price!!

    • Melanie

Definitely still a reader. It can all be confusing 😊

    • Candice

The Amazon Fire you can definitely read books, the Kindle is ONLY for books.

    • Elise

If you just want to read books, you want a plain kindle (better for your eyes too.) The fire has limited parental controls, ie can pw protect internet and in app purchases. The have a paid freetime subscription geared towards kids.

    • April

I was confused too. There is a basic kindle that is just an ereader. My son has an original kindle fire. This new product is not a kindle. I didn’t see the word kindle anywhere in the description. This one is just an amazon fire.

  10. shannon

Sucks that the 6pack deal can only be used for 6 of the cheapest ones!!!

    • Melissa

What do you mean the cheapest ones?

      • shannon

It’s not good for the bigger ones or the kid ones just the 7in fire.

  11. shannon

Does the fire 6pack coupon have a expiration code?

  12. Katie

Just got the 6pack deal one for us and 5 for gifts!

  13. Cat

Just ordered for my two sons in college. So many of their textbooks are electronic now, and many are purchased through Amazon. Will be nice for them to have a dependable new device to read on!

  14. Flav

Woo hoo! My parents are buying each of my kids one! And keeping one for themselves!

  15. Izzy

How is this different from an iPad? Can you google? FB? Pinterest?

    • Ashley57

The basic functions are the same as the iPad. You can use the internet on a Fire.

  16. Karin

There is a pre-order for a Fire Kids Edition, 7″ Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB, Blue/Pink Kid-Proof Case for 99.99. Which includes, 1 year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited and a Kid-Proof Case, plus a 2-year worry-free guarantee. I just cancelled my order for the this one and ordered the kids one. First Christmas present ordered.

    • Amanda M

ohh tempting! Gonna try to work the grandparents to get my girls this one haha Thanks for posting 🙂

  17. Ali

I think Amazon is trying to sell out its stocks of that generation of kindle fire and they will be launching a new one sooner .

    • Dana

      This is the new one.

  18. Rebleigh

I tried to buy them this morning but their was no place to put the promo code for free one. I got to the last page and still could not find the place for code.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

When you get to the “payment method” scroll down to “gift cards and promo codes” Hope that helps!

      • Samantha

Is the promo code still working?? I tried to buy them today but it isn’t accepting the promo code?
