if anyone has been able to renew under this, could you please explain the details? Did they make you cancel and sign up as a new member or just adjust your renewal price? My membership expires in 9 days and I contacted them and asked to renew at this rate, as I’ve read many other hipsters have done. but i’m being told I have to end my membership today and sign up as a new member. Is that what everyone else did? TIA!

    • Olivia

No. I was charged 12/30/15 the 99$ and I called for a credit and was given the difference… I didn’t have to cancel anything. Call back and ask again…hope this helps…

    • Go

In my case, I called customer service and they couldn’t help me, they told me it was for new members only, then I chatted with someone and she told me she could help me by cancel my membership(that ends in 6 days) and provided me a link to buy the membership at $73. I don’t know if it was good to cancel before it ends but that’s what I did.

      • jen

thanks so much! Sounds like some of these reps really don’t know what others are doing. But I will prob just cancel and rejoin if that’s all they can do… then cross my fingers i don’t kick myself for a year because of it.

Came at a good time for me. Need a new pump for the washing machine that I wanted quick. So rather then paying $15 for expedited shipping I upgraded. Used my chase freedom points to pay for it.

I posted this elsewhere- but see this is the better spot for it:
I’m trying to better understand subscribe and save (haven’t decided whether or not to get prime yet) when the deals come up you “subscribe” and then cancel as soon as it arrives? Overall are these better deals then just shopping store sales? Thank you!!

    • A

Most of the time they are better deals but you really have to know what your price point is for certain items. I always cancel the subscription as soon as it ships but if you forget they send a reminder email a few days before it’s supposed to ship. That gives you time to cancel it.

      • Anna

Thank you so much for your feedback!

    • Amie

I’ve been doing S & S for a long time now and love it! I always set my intervals for 6 months and then cancel when I receive the item. That way I have a full 6 months just in case I forget. Everything I get is either the same or usually a better price then I would get in the store. With the added benefit of not having to take my kids to the store, not having to pay for gas, and being able to sit in my pj’s while ordering and have it delivered right to my door it’s totally worth it. You really need to think about what your price limit is for the items you think you would order and then just do a little looking around for a deal. When you pair the 15% S&S discount you get with a coupon you can get some great deals, I even get some things for free. It used to be that prime members got 20% off while non members only got 15% . Now that everyone gets 15% they are starting to offer Prime Members only pricing on certain offers to compensate for the reduction. In my opinion prime is worth it!

Has anyone “gifted” this to themselves? My membership isnt up again till August! I’d love to get this rate then!

    • Kathy

Mine was up the end of June… I did a chat and asked them to refund the months I haven’t used yet and cancel my prime so I could get this rate… They told me no and I politely insisted that they have done this for other people i “know” (on here)… They said they checked with their supervisor and they were able to do this. They canceled my account, refunded me $40 and I immediately was able to buy a year for $73!

  5. Jenn

When I chatted with them online I told my membership was up on 24 January and asked if there was anyway to gift it to me they really didn’t answer that question then they told me that I can go ahead and cancel my subscription and they would put it through for the $73 when I told him I wanted to get all of my days out of the last subscriptionthey told me they would put a note on my account when my subscription renews to renew it at $73

    • jen

Thank you. I’m still on chat with them and I’m asking about it and using you as an example right now. I feel like it’s risky to get a new account instead of a renewal.

    • jen

So i was told that the rep who helped you will be “escalated to the internal team” for violating the policies bc the only way to get this deal is to cancel and renew. Not sure if that’s blowing smoke or for real, but I guess I should just take me chances and cancel.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet! Thanks for sharing!

  6. LindaD

My trial membership was scheduled to end on 2/15/16. I called and after some checking, the rep cancelled my order, sent me a link to buy the membership at the reduced rate then attached an extra month to the membership so it now expire on 2/17/17. I was not able to use any credits I had but could apply a gift
    card.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad you could grab it at the reduced price!

  7. Amber

Does anyone know if you can still share this between 2 addresses? I know their policy changed a little.

    • A

My husband and I share it but I believe that’s it. You can only share with 1 other person

    • waytogo

I just sign up yesterday and I was able to share prime with my sister(different address).

      • Amanda

How were you able to share it with your sister?

      • Amanda

        Nevermind, found it! Yay!

  8. Jenn

The chat was sent to me as well so I do have proof so hopefully they’ll honor what I was told not sure how they know who helped me specifically at least right now

    • jen

they’ll honor it for you. they’re just being difficult to me. win some, lose some.

  9. Janet

Is this the best price for Amazon? I haven’t bit the bullet yet and have been wondering if I should just get it now or wait a few more months. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Tia!!

    • Ana

Unless you are a student, this WILL prob. Be the best price. It’s worth it if u shop online a lot. Free shipping is the best!!! Especially since it can add up quickly.

  10. dblD-amber

Is it really worth it. I did a lot of shopping at Xmas time and currently pregnant with out 3rd. Worth the money?

    • Maria

      Yes it’s worth it!!

  11. Kait R

Does anyone happen to know if I gift thsi to myself and end my Prime when it is up in a couple months…do I lose all of my music and things like that and have to start over?

    • julie

From my understanding it cant be gifted

  12. Karissa

  13. Scissorchic

Don’t forget the streaming music too!!!

  14. Cathy

My current Prime membership expires in 3 days. I was able to get them to give me the new price! Thank you! It was SO worth the extra savings! I love Amazon!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet! You’re so welcome Cathy!

  15. Jen

My membership ended next month and I called them and let them know I was planning on canceling (which I actually was). He immediately cancelled my current subscription so that I could purchase the new one at the discounted rate! On top of that I asked if I would be refunded anything for not using the whole subscription (only one month left) and I received a refund of $52! I was really worried I would lose all of my music if I cancelled but I still have it all, nothing was affected. I doesn’t hurt to ask!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome Jen! Glad you could score the savings!

  16. Kristen

Hi all, I chatted with 2 reps today who said that they couldn’t give me the promo rate since I already have Prime (expires next mo), even by cancelling and trying new. I’m confused since a lot of people on here said they were able to receive the deal and even a refund for the time that was left on their account. I don’t want to abuse the system or have an entitled attitude about this but I am not sure that what I was told is correct. I do love prime and would probably pay 99 for it so if that is the end result, that is still ok.

  17. Barré

I bought a year of prime off eBay for $15, this was back in May. Someone bought a fire phone and already had prime, was selling the membership that came with the phone.

    • Kristen

Woah, didn’t know you could do that! How did that work? A promo code to enter??
