I love the freebies FROM Shutterfly but am I the only one that thinks shipping is a bit much? Please, no hate replies lol…. I’m not trying to be unappreciative at all, just my 2 cents… and a big thanks so much to Collin & her team!

    • Louise

I totally agree! What I do is I find all the free codes and order stuff up to $39 and get free shipping. I’m in the middle of a big order right now and taking care of birthday gifts and mother day gifts all for $39 for at least a total of 6 ppl

      • Angela

Do you add all the stuff and get it to $39 before putting in the codes? And then the free shipping stays even after putting in the codes for the free things? Thanks in advance for your help!

      • Angela

Or wait…did you mean that you were ordering other things (not free) but then also using the freebie codes so before you put the codes in it all together got you to $39? But either way…once you entered the codes, did it drop you below $39 but the shipping still was free? Or did you just grab the free stuff at the same time as the other stuff so you wouldn’t have to pay any shipping on the free stuff? Sorry for so many questions lol!!!

        • Lauren

My guess is that it is buying $39 dollars worth of things and ordering the freebies. You are at least getting $39 worth of product instead of paying $15 for shipping… Hope this makes sense!

    • Jen

Places like shutterfly & kohls are very aware of their “sales” & “deals”. I worked in retail for years…there are people who get paid a lot of money to make the consumer believe they are saving money when in reality they are not. But the flip side to sites like Hip are they are just relaying the info…maybe someone out there needed this today & for them it is a good deal 😉 but I agree re: shipping. It’s not costing shutterfly anything to make the product. It does cost them to ship which is why they inflate the price- it’s their profit margin.

      • Erin

        I agree about Kohls!

      • Susan

I just have to jump in here to say that it absoultely does cost them something to make the product. Manpower for everything from customer service, to IT, to printing, to shipping department. Cost of materials, maintenance costs on the printing equipment, etc. Yes their shipping costs are inflated, but if you subtract what it should actually cost them to ship something, say it should cost $5 to ship a book but they charge $10 (just an example not actual prices of course), well then you’re basically getting that book for $5 plus shipping. It helps me to not feel so ripped off on the shipping costs if I think of it this way:)

    • Courtney

I agree but that’s how they can still make money from the free offers!

    • Sarah

I didn’t realize you could stack free codes within 1 order!! I will have to remember this!

      • Stephanie

I have never been able to stack codes and I order frequently–always just takes the one with the bigger discount

    • Kalynn

Not a hate reply, but although I agree with you, Shutterfly is amazing. The amount of $$ they give away on Ellen is insane. Over and over and over again, they drop checks for $10,000 like its $20 – which it very well could be to them – but I am blown away by their generosity. Not trying to start anything, just something I remind myself when I get mad at their shipping rates. I will buy my pictures/products from them every single time because of their generosity.

      • Vivian

I agree! I love that they donate on Ellen, but of course it’s publicity and a tax write off for them too! But they can’t stay in business if everything were free and free ship, so I think this gives them a slim profit margin at least. I do love their quality and customer service is usually pretty good although lately I’ve noticed they are getting a bit tighter on their policies and free ship options. Understandable, they are a for profit business.

    • Kiwi

I used to think that the shipping was awful until I really started to think about it. How many hands does your item pass through before it arrives at your door? (I don’t live close to many stores so it is huge for me to not have to pack up the baby and toddler for a trip to say The Children’s Place). That shipping helps in part pay for the gas for the plane/boat/delivery truck, people that touch it…even lights to the building it is housed. While I do still look at shipping as high…when I put it into that terms it isn’t so bad. $8 to have a big box on my front door all the way from California (I’m on the East coast)? Not so bad to me! Not being mean…just trying to shed new light onto the subject. 🙂

      • Sandy

Agreed. $8 shipping for a “free” photobook is alright. It’s Better than having my photos stored in a computer! I make a photobook for each of my kids every year. They LOVE it. Thanks Shutterfly!

    • Brittany

They make money on their s&h…it’s part of their business strategy and the reason you still pay tax on a “free” item. You can read articles about it.

Regardless, if you look at the oop cost and still feel it’s a good deal than for you it’s a good deal!

  5. Melissa

Thanks Collin !! We just moved and need new addres labels !!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Perfect! You’re so welcome!

  6. kristen

If anyone has a free book code they arent using, i would love it!! Kristencuaz@yahoo.com

  7. Kris

So what codes work together to get free shipping? Historically Their shipping prices go up after adding free codes.

  8. Denise

I have 2 codes for a free 8×8 Shutterfly Photo Book, from packages of Eight O’Clock coffee:

Pampers is sending out a free reusable bag – I’m not going to use mine (mostly cause shipping is too expensive)

Promo code valid through Mar 31:
    GTJM-ARUW-WR1B-WP494T

    • Helen

Is this through the Pampers website or through Shutterfly? I’ll use it, thank you!

    • Judy

I was just coming to post the same thing! Got my free bag email just now from Pampers

    • Helen

Wow! Went to go check out and someone used it…even though I posted I would be using it….thank you anyway😊

For future just add the code tha you intend to use to your account before you start your project. That way it’ll be saved into your account & someone won’t be able to take it from you.

  10. Sarah

If anyone has a free reusable bag that they aren’t going to use I would love to!!!! Email jasonptfamily at gmail

  13. Helen

When someone posts that they would be using a code it would nice if someone else doesn’t take it…simple courtesy….

  14. isabella

keep in mind that the magnets need to all be the same size… I tried doing 2 big magnets and 2 small magnets and it didn’t work… but all 4 big magnets worked. Great deal!

  15. TERITA

  22. Michelle G

Thank you Collin – just ordered address labels for my kids graduation invites. I’m going to look like I’ve got it all together. One item at a time.

  23. Sue

Wanted to go to bed, but I stayed up for the magnet offer. And yes, their shipping seems overpriced, but where else can you get personalized magnets for $2.50 each? I’ve paid $3 for Frozen magnets at 5 Below.
