Where would be the best place to get beach towels that aren’t too expensive? My son attends preschool and I have a total of 8 teachers and aides and I usually give them all the same gift. Thank you in advance

My son has special needs and has several paraprofessionals (aides) and a speech therapist that provide services to him each day…& we thank them each year as well. Any ideas on where to find printable tags for those gifts? Everything that I have found is specifically for teachers…I had to hand make mine last year and they didn’t look nearly as nice.
Ideas 1,2, 3,4,7,&9 from this post don’t have teacher on the tag – I purposely did that so it could be more general. The lip balm one and insulated cup is pretty general.

These are great ideas and beautifully presented. That said, from a teacher’s perspective, I have to say that the gift of office supplies is not super high on the list at the end of the year especially (better received at the beginning of the year when they can be put to good use!). Gift cards ($5 coffee shop cards are great!) will almost always be the teacher’s choice. And if your child was one that may have brought headaches? Wine. 🙂

Don’t forget the assistant in your kids’ classes. They don’t get enough thanks and they do as much, and sometimes more.

I’m a high school teacher, and I think those free notepads from shutterfly are a great idea! They even have grid paper ones fir math teachers!!
I give a Visa gift card in August and January to each of the teachers (I figure they may prefer the local supply store or depot or staples or whatever, they can choose that way). The kids make a card for teacher appreciation day. We probably look pretty cheap to the rest of the parents, but whatever.

As a teacher I have to say I absolutely loved all the thoughtful things I was given for teacher appreciation week! Some of my favorites – kids brought in my favorite coffee/pop, my favorite candy, parents brought in chick-fil-a for lunch or $5 gift cards! Our PTO made themes for each day and one was flower oriented… We were told to bring in a vase and each kid picked a flower or two on their way in! Seriously though my favorite “things” are handwritten notes from students/parents.

When did teacher gifts become a thing? I’m not trying to be smart when I ask this, I genuinely don’t remember anyone in my classes ever giving gifts to teachers when I was going through school. I’m not saying teachers don’t deserve to be thanked, they certainly do, and I don’t have kids yet so I’ve got a few years until I need to start worrying about this. I’m just wondering if everyone does this or it may be more of a regional thing? I don’t want to be the cheap person who doesn’t thank their kids teachers, especially if everyone else is doing it. But I don’t know of anyone I went to school with ever buying gifts for teachers.
I am 39 and I remember growing up and bringing in home backed goods around the holidays for the teacher and other kids brought things in too. I am in upstate (not real upstate NY) Can’t remember if I brought anything in at the end of the year though.
I started teaching in early 2000s and students would bring in gifts before December break and at the end of the year. It felt like so much some times. I used to work in a district where the families didn’t have a lot, but they were so appreciative of everything we did for their children. The handwritten notes I have always kept-they mean so much to me and honestly even when I moved up to middle school and didn’t get as many “gifts” I would get a few handwritten notes at the end of each year from a student and they mean so much more to me and I am sure every other teacher as well.
It is a job you don’t necessarily see “results” right away and much like parenthood it is hard because you sometimes don’t feel appreciated. A few kind words and knowing in some way I may impact someone’s life is truly all the appreciation a teacher needs. These “gifts” are sweet in that they show that the parents and/or students appreciate what you do, but are never “expected”
Um, don’t you remember people bringing apples for teachers, like in Little House on the Prairie days? It has been a thing for basically forever. But also, don’t feel obligated. I’m a teacher, as is my husband, and we get a few gifts every year but not much. At some schools it’s much more a part of the culture than at others. And like another person said on here, the best gifts by far have been notes from kiddos or parents.

You could try any discount store like Ross, Big Lots, Walmart. I scored some great ones at IKEA last summer! 😄
