They’re already ridiculously expensive…probably won’t be going there anymore. Dunkin’ is much cheaper.

    • Amanda

Right! I love dunkin donuts, and the way they add up points towards free drinks is so much easier.

    • amy

what kind of coffee do they have there?do they have flavored coffee or just plain?

      • maria

Yes, DD has flavored coffees. The almond joy is yummy!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the honest feedback Dana!

    • V

DD is disgusting. Wawa is where it’s at. Best coffee and super convenient to find.

    • Carla

I tried a Dunkin donuts frozen coffee drink once for free with a coupon…GROSS. I couldn’t drink it, it was that bad. Dumped it straight down the drain.

  2. Lindak

    Too many calories anyway!

  3. adria

To be fair…if 30 cents is alot of money even if you buy a drink every day it’s only $2 more a week. $104 more a year. If $104 is life changing money then those people shouldn’t be spending money at Starbucks anyways. Cost of commerce is price increases on consumer products.

    • Michelle

      Amen Adria!!😊😊

    • Jessie

      Preach!

    • Bethany

That’s a bit judgmental I think. Starbucks is a treat for some.

    • April Kohen

Adria just because some one complains about the price hike doesn’t mean they can’t afford it. I for one am not able to justify paying more money on an already over priced coffee. I make my own frapps at home thanks to Collin, because I found out the stuff like beetles that were crushed up and used as coloring in some of their products, plus they are in a lawsuit over not filling the cups up. Im sure they trying to make up for their losses. i love how Collin runs a money saving site, yet someone has something judgmental to state about those who don’t like the hike! Thanks Collin and your team of ladies to keeping us in the know!

      • Anna

Love what you said April 🙌🏼

      • klb1989

well said! Anyone can only spend money once and what they “value” enough to do so is a personal decision. We are all on this site because we want to make more informed decisions on how to spend our hard earned dollars….

  4. Heather

Our closest Starbucks is an hour drive…so it’s a sort of “treat” to us. This increase won’t impact us….
We do support our local coffee shop though :). If you don’t like the prices, seek out a locally owned biz.

    • momof6

      Local shops are the best!

    • riss

An hour from the nearest Starbucks! May I ask where do you live? We’re in the ‘burb but we have a Starbucks about a mile from us in each direction.

      • hellfire gainz

I live almost 2 hours from Starbucks. If it wasn’t for that location the closest one would be a 3 hour drive.

    • Edith

I agree! It’s always best to go local. Your money stays in the community and is better for the environment. I do confess though I like the McDonald’s sugar-free vanilla iced coffee. Other flavored drinks are just like dessert – too sugary.

  5. Amanda

I don’t stop by there enough to be turned off by the price increase. But comparing Starbucks to DD is like comparing Nordstrom to Walmart. Starbucks drinks are so much better in taste and quality.

    • adria

      Agree Amanda lol

    • amy

o please. hack in the box iced coffee and also the frosted coffee from chick-fil-a are vetter than starbucks and way less sugary. doesmt matter where the come from it matters about how it taste

      • amy

jack* hard to type with a four year old pulling on my arm

      • Amanda

We don’t have jack in the box 🙁 but DD around here are inconsistent. I gave up on them years ago. When I want a mostly sugar coffee beverage, Starbucks is my go to!

        • Heather

We don’t have a Jack in the Box anywhere close either…I didn’t know they had coffee!

          • Heather

Well…aside from the plain jane variety….

          • amy

they have caramel, mocha which has a chocolate flavor and then the regular but its not actually regular they add shake Mix to it when they make it. I know because I work there. its really good. and a lot less sugary than starbucks. I get sick from starbucks I literally feel like im drinking pure sugar. I like the doubleshot over ice only. but that’s because they add barely any sugar.

            • Shari

I agree that Starbux is way too sugary as well!

      • Melloddie

Well if it’s just coffee people are referring to, SB is actually like 2 cents cheaper than DD in nyc for me. It’s only the fraps/lattes/specialty drinks that cannot be compared to DD since DD don’t have much of variety in those. It is what it is. I definitely take SB as a treat and only buy specialty drinks when I go there, which isn’t often. As for ground coffee, I stock up on them bag ones from Amazon when it has a good sale.

        • Angela

Yes! Same here–for basic coffee, DD is MORE expensive than Starbucks in my area. And I think it tastes awful. Give me Starbucks any day!

    • Danna

      That’s how I feel. I can’t do DD.

    • Kristy

Couldn’t agree more our DDs are so inferior. Also, there iced coffee comes premade in a bag. Gross.

    • Jennifer

Totally agree, Dunkin sucks in my opinion and where I live, their prices are comparable to Starbucks

  6. Marissa

I had a feeling this was coming after the rewards program switched. Hopefully it’s just the fraps, which I haven’t gotten one of since being a teenager, lol. I’ll tell y’all though, if you’re extremely upset about these hikes, NEVER go to a store in Vegas. Literally quadruple the price than any other stores around me at home.

    • Amanda

I’ve never been to Vegas but from what I’ve heard, this rule applies to everything there!

    • Juices

Actually it’s only the ones in the casinos because those are casino employee operated which equals union wages. (Think target workers in the target store). There’s tons of Starbucks that are right off the strip which are Starbucks operated.

    • dariela

That’d the ones on the strip the ones in the city are normal prices

    • Julia L.

I just paid $6.95 for a grande white peppermint mocha on the strip. Starbucks is already expensive but on the strip these prices are insane!

    • Laura

They also vary from casino to casino. The Starbucks at Caesars would be $1-2 more than than they are at Harrahs or New York New York!

    • NattieDannie

That’s because it’s in a casino/on the strip. Everything is more expensive on the strip. I lived in LV for a couple years and you soon realize that the strip is not a place you frequent…unless you work there or have out of town visitors. “The strip,” where majority of the casinos are, is a tourist destination and a place to make money. There is a world out side that bubble where the workers and other Las Vegans live that’s fairly normal and suburban. With all that said, SB is a treat for me so I’m fine with the price increase.

  7. Dutch Bros fan

Dutch Bros all the way! Who cares about Starbucks anyway.

    • CO Mama

SO wish we had a DB☕️

    • KT

Yes! I can only go when I have a day off because the ones in my town are so busy! Plus, the kids drink cups are reusable!

    • Julia L.

👏🏽👏🏽yesssss to DB! And they’re polite!!

  8. Casey Meyers

I think that want stop people from going there.

  9. chester

30 cents is fine but Starbucks, With the 30 cent increase in drinks do you think you can supply your stores with ketchup? Geeezzzz it’s never there and they only have saracha!!! It’s a bacon egg and cheese with salt pepper ketchup not saracha…. So take your 30 cents and spend it wisely….🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

  10. Nick

If you are a gold member, you get free coffee and tea refills as long as you don’t leave the store. That means you can order an expensive frappuccino and then get a free cup of iced coffee or tea to take with you. This makes it totally worth it.

    • M

What? No, that means you just get a refill of what you ordered from the beginning, as long as it was hot/iced coffee or tea.

      • Nick

No matter what store I go to, I get free iced coffee or tea refill no matter what hand crafted beverage I purchase in the beginning. You can keep saying no and I will keep enjoying my refills lol.

        • Bea

I agree. When you get an espresso drink, you’re buying a more expensive drink than regular coffee, so no reason not to get a coffee refill. Also, I think their web site even says that’s an option.

        • ❌Fran

I do the same thing you do every time I go there no matter what drink I buy then I go back up and get a free refill of ice coffee.

  11. Tiffany

didnt they just do an increase last year?

  12. LaurieW

Wow! That’s crazy. I love Starbucks. I love their frappe’s but I only splurge occasionally, for the calories and expense.
Think about how much money they actually have in that coffee. Granted the frappe’s have more ingredients but still. You know they’re making a huge profit on each drink. So wrong!

  13. JENNIFER

Well since I usually only go with my half priced groupon gift cards, I don’t think the $0.30 will deter me much, lol. I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price for a Starbucks coffee, maybe if they’d quit giving away groupons n such, they wouldn’t need to raise their prices, lol.

    • LaurieW

When and where do you get those? I’ve never seen any deals for Starbucks on Groupon 🙁

      • Kim

Collin posts them here all the time I think there was 2 just last month or month before. But Collin while amazing can not post every single deal doesn’t hurt to search on groupon a couple of times a week.

        • LaurieW

I did get the buy $10 get $10 awhile back with visa check out. I’ll have to keep a closer look. You have to check this site all the time or you miss great bargains!

  14. Liz

Im not a coffee person but i love frappes..more like a dessert treat than anything else.I love the starbucks frappe and i indulge occasionally.Any other similar style frappes u guys recommend?

  15. Liz Ob

I’ve always loved the Fraps but I stopped eating fast food completely and now the Fraps just taste loaded with high fructose corn syrup. I went to world market and bought a pack of Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Macadamia coffee and now I only use sugar No Creamer. It tastes amazing! And the cashier told me they don’t even use real coffee in the Fraps. It’s just powder with ice, milk and syrups. Yuck!

    • holly

      Sounds yummy. Thanks for posting.

    • Shari

I agree as I asked at one point if they could make with half the sugar and they said no as it is just what they told you…It’s just powder with ice, milk and syrups.

  16. Sierra

Starbucks is already overpriced. The Frapps are mostly ice and have to be a huge profit maker. Dunkin Donuts coffee is so much better than Starbucks. People have really fallen for the marketing. You pay for the fancy setups in the price of their products. As for quality. Their “sandwiches” are premade and microwaved. Who knows how long ago they were made and packaged. Yuk! McDonalds is fresher than Starbucks stuff.

  17. Dana

They lost me when they changed the rewards program.

    • mel

You are really missing out then. I made Gold before the program changed. I wasn’t sure about it, since I only go about 2 or 3 times a month, but since the change I’ve already received enough stars for 2 FREE drinks. I’m sure there are others who’ve done better, but I’m just a casual SB person. I do try to take advantage of the bonus star offers they send me via email & double star days (but I missed this past Monday, we had a family bbq and I wasn’t leaving the house for a coffee!)

  18. Bridget

Coffee Bean all the way here! Starbucks is already overpriced for mediocre coffee. We don’t buy there anyway.

  19. Candace

They lost me when they changed the rewards program. I won’t return unless I have a gift card. I’m going to invest in a nice coffee maker maybe a Ninja coffee bar. I prefer McDonalds Caramel frappe and Dunkin Donuts Heath or Almond Joy iced coffee.

  20. Amber

Ridiculous!!! Their should be a price drop in my neighborhood because gallons of milk are .94. Save us some money greedy folk

    • V

Where do you love, might I ask? In Jersey, a gallon costs 2.60 and I thought that was cheap

      • Kim

I can’t speak for her but in Texas you can find gallons at Aldi for around $1.19

    • Molly

😱😱😱 Do you own a time machine?!?Where is a gallon of milk 94¢??!! Who cares about coffee…Lol, how much for a gallon of gas? 😱😱

      • mel

LOL, I need to a $2 in front of the $0.94, and that’s at Sam’s. Everywhere else it’s well over $3, close to $5 at some stores. $0.94 doesn’t even get me an 8 oz carton of half n half!

    • Amy

Our gallons are averaging about 1.50 regular price here in my part of Ohio. Been very nice!

    • Rebecca

Man, $2.99 is our sale price lol.

      • Mj

I’m in FL & $2.99 is a good sale where I live too!! We go through a lot of milk at my house…I would love to see prices like some of you!!

        • Becca

          FL here too!!

    • Nicole

I paid $0.99 for a gallon of milk just this week at my Aldi’s (southern Indiana)

    • hellfire gainz

Why am I paying close to $5 a gallon?? .99 is a dream

  21. Becky

I love me a white chocolate mocha latte. Either iced or hot.
I buy the white chocolate sauce from
Starbucks website ($25 gets me 30+ 16oz drinks) and make strong cold brew coffee, add milk and the white chocolate sauce and tastes just like Starbucks

  22. Brianna

I only go to Starbucks if it is our only option. I’ve had a $20 gift card in my wallet for two years now and haven’t ever had to use it for a coffee emergency. I use to be a barista for them 15+ years ago and it is sad to see a company that had such wonderful business purpose and Eco-friendly blossom into the monster it has become today. They have lost their values.

  23. Victoria

That’s crazy they are raising even higher. I reduced visits significantly when we got
Our ninja coffee maker at Christmas. (Keep posting those deals!!). Also I do enjoy black iced coffee at DD a lot as well and cheaper.

  24. annie

I just quit drinking coffee on the daily and drink hot water and lemon instead. I still drink coffee just not as often. I’ve probably had coffee 3 times this year so far.

    • Rose

Add honey to hot water and lemon and that will keep you from getting sick often! 😊

  25. ❤️Grandma ❤️

If I didn’t trade gift cards for Starbucks…. I wouldn’t go there. We don’t have DD or jack in the box around here….. We don’t eat out much so I couldn’t say if McD’s is better or than any other fast food….. But prices are just getting outrageous for any luxury…. Guess I’ll keep my $5 from fancy coffee and make my own.

  26. andi

30 cents more because they had bad publicity about not filling cups to match the advertised ounces. They just filled with extra foam/ice. Increase price and fill the cup all the way.

  27. Rebecca

We get frappes as a family treat when they have B1G1 or similar promotions. Otherwise, I am an iced coffee girl. Starbucks iced coffee(including cold brewed) is mediocre at best. I will grab DD if I’m nearby & have a coupon. I like their dark roast & if I’m in mood for super sweet, they have tasty syrups(Heath!) Chickfila is pretty good. I don’t really frequent other fast food places & we don’t have Coffee Bean, Wawa, etc. I stumbled upon Dairy Queen iced coffee the other day while browsing the mall with my son, it was something like happy hour so only $1. I got the salted caramel & was pleasantly surprised. Very sweet but good. Overall I prefer to make my own, we like strong coffee(Death Wish, Valhalla etc) & find most iced coffee sold to be very weak & watery.

  28. SweetP

Just keep getting free refills and make your own. Add milk ice and syrup you can make your favorite drink at home. Gas stations have great coffee deals. Cumberland farms Ct iced coffee any size .99 many flavors to choose from

  29. Lisa

I started making my own cold brew coffee… stores in fridge for a week at a time… pour cold brew over ice, add homemade cream (mix condensed milk and evaporated milk together, store in mason jar), add flavor to taste and you have great iced coffee. Even the chai tea lattes, I just buy the concentrated at Target when it’s on sale 2/$6.00 and I’m good for the week. For those who still love Starbucks, maybe consider going every other day, as a treat 🙂

    • Rebecca

Cold brew is the way to go! I have done the chai concentrate over ice as well when there was a great gift card deal with that one. Honestly, if I want to be super lazy about it, just buy some ready made Starbucks or other brand iced coffee at store for like $4, makes 6-8 drinks. Can’t beat that!

  30. momof6

Seriously, if someone was buying daily the cost is insane, period! An extra $104 a year is insane. And $5+ for a shot of espresso and cream is outrageous.

    I love the diy recipes.

  31. Appl6c8ke

I am less and less excited about this company, the quality of ingredients, meh. The regular coffee bot bad, teas are so so, I prefer to brew at home and organic, and I prefer Peet’s cappuccinos. Also, I’m a tea drinker and believe their partnership with Teavana was for the worse; they simply canceled our favorite teas and I’m learning that Teavana is not so great. SB uses artificial ingredients and has also been degrading the quality of their cups and lids. A few years prior, I noticed their lids being thinner, flimsier and fitting worse. This week three different cups with tea leaked and had rims crumble probably due to also the pressure it takes to press that damn lid in place. I know, I should really use my own reusable and would rather waste less, but for such a popular company, their cups ruin the whole experience. I don’t go there daily, actually trying to stop going there all together unless I’m traveling, for now just giving their program a try before I phase it out and I have a lot of gift cards to use up. I do take advantage of the refills. When I stay at SB, I get a latte, then “refill it” with green tea, then refill again with a herbal/mint tea. But overall, I’m just not too into SB as of late.

In conclusion, I will see Starbucks for what it is, will lower my expectations, use them just when there is nothing else around. Always being unsure of what’s really in my cup, SB gave me the push to drink less coffee, seek out local specialty coffee shops, and to drink more tea at home. So, I am glad for all the terrible changes, because I want more reasons to quit Starbucks. I used to visit just a few times a year, then got sucked into their rewards, and finally disappointed in quality I am on my way out. I also quit 7/11 and gas stations coffee, gross.

BTW Peet’s coffee now has a rewards program, you “check in” for 15 visits to get a free medium drink. So, just like with the old SB program, I buy drinks separately, the “check in” can be applied to cash purchases too. Not amazing, just another option and works for me since it’s a convenient spot for work.

  32. Melina

If you just buy regular coffee at Starbucks it’s the same price as DD. If you want a flavoring like caramel in it they will do that for I think an extra $.50. I always get a tall pike place in a grande cup for $2 and add lots of cream 🙂

  33. Kim

I paid $3.25 for a Trenta iced tea today, with way too much ice. A very expensive plastic cup, green straw, ice, and tea. I vowed to never buy iced tea again and I went out and bought a box of 24 Lipton sun tea bags for $2.99! I’m done with being ripped off for my SB iced tea fix. I can’t even believe they are hiking their prices again. Crazy. I’ll be giving my money to mom & pop coffee shops from now on.

    • harley

Ty for ur comment. I totally agree!!!!

  34. pris

All this DD talk is making me crave their blueberry donuts!!! Don’t care to much about the coffee. But those donuts ♡♡♡

  35. Liz

I usually swing by McD their frapps are delish too.

  36. Shelby

I like Starbucks Carmel machiattos because of the skinny option and coconut milk. However Dunkin has almond milk and doesn’t charge you anything to sub it unlike Starbucks. Since I quit dairy recently it’s made me stop in my tracks when I run to Starbucks and my venti drink is over $6. For some reason a $5.75 drink didn’t freak me out but hitting that $6 mark made me think “that’s ridiculous for one drink!” So the price increase could definitely scare some folks away, myself included. It’s ok, it’s better for my waistline and my wallet. I like Dunkin’s coffee. If you want it stronger they have a dark roast option.

  37. Brandi P

It’s all about Dutch Brothers! <3

  38. Kim

I won’t be stopping there any time soon. I am learning to make my coffee/tea drinks at home. They will have to lower their prices and/or have a special for me to stop by again.

  39. Whitney

Go to Target and buy the STOK iced coffee/cold brew jugs (in the fridge by the Starbucks). I get the “not too sweet” red jug bit they make unsweetened. Pour over ice and drink black or add coffee mate’s BLISS vanilla creamer. It is SO DELICIOUS! Aaand there are $1.50 off STOK coupons on Coupons.com!

    • Dee Dee

      Oh, thank you!

      • Whitney

You’re welcome! It was such a great discovery. Tastes like coffee ice cream! Enjoy!

  40. k

I’m already paying over $5.00 for my java chip frap, cannot go any higher for a few pumps of chocolate and ice! I am going to have to find another addiction! I am done with Starbucks.

  41. Akiko

I do like Starbucks ice coffee but the others dont taste good to me. Hot coffee is too strong, mocha cappuccino was really yucky. I never order it ever again. Incresing 30 cents is not acceptable. They are already overpriced as others mentioned above. I rather make coffee at home ,and adding sugar then put it in the fridge to make my ice coffee for now. I may stop by at Starbucks when I get 50% off giftcard on groupon . Reminds me of our kids school lunch increases 25 cents every year.
