So this new Harry Potter book is in script form. Has anyone read it? I’m not sure how my son would do reading that format.
My husband and I read it just fine. However, with that being said, I would also caution that a lot of people were frustrated with the format of the book becsuse it is a play and does look something like this:

Hermione:
Just an example. My son is 9 and he has not read this book yet because I feel he would be highly irritated.

I read it and enjoyed it very much. It is an interesting story set years later than the Harry Potter novels. Harry is middle aged and is a father. His relationship with his son is rocky, just like a lot of parents in real life. Yes the story is in play format rather than being in novel format, so there are fewer descriptions of the characters and the scenes. But it is that way in Shakespeare’s writing. His are all plays. For those who appreciate Shakespeare, no one complains that he didn’t write a novel instead of a play.
This was my opinion when I saw it, I have read all the other Harry Potter books and were very surprised to see this one in this format style

it never was a novel or in story form. this is the same as has been performed on the West End, so like a transcript of the stage performance that has not come to the States yet. this is the only version of this story so far. (i don’t know if there are plans to adapt to a story.)

When I read Collin’s title, I thought it said, “…Cursed Child Parts…🙀” Hahaha!
I believe the play was written by someone else and the original author just helped out a bit with this– they had permissions to adapt it to a play and she filled in some gaps and info so it probably has a different tone to it as well.
