When I went to Walgreens today I had some trouble. First of all they wouldn’t take my Irish Spring coupon because it said CVS on the side. I explained to them that coupons often have store names on the side as suggestions but if they read the fine print it says “redeemable at food, drug, discount and other stores accepting coupons”. They would not budge. They would not accept the coupon. Furthermore, I was going to give them some rewards coupons I had earned previously and they told me that you cannot use the rewards coupons together with the manufacturer’s coupons, that is unless you have more items than coupons. I was only buying items that I had manufacturer’s coupons for and I thought that the rewards were kinda like cash, but no. I spoke to the manager in both instances. I know she is wrong about the coupon with CVS on it, is she right or wrong about stacking coupons? Has anyone else had this problem? Fortunately, there are several Walgreen’s in my area, I will try another one tomorrow. I left without buying anything.
Wags is a bit tricky when you use Register Rewards. You would think they’d be like cash, but they come up as “MFRCoupon” or something like that on the receipt. Wags registers have a coupon to item ratio. This is why you’ll see scenarios indicating to use a filler, which is a cheap item that you have NO manuf q attaching to, so the RR will have an item to attach. (just to note, Wags in-ad q’s do not count towards the item to coupon ratio) Example – if you have 4 items and 4 Manuf q’s $0.50/1 each, the register will not take the RR b/c it doesn’t have an item to attach to since each $0.50/1 attached to each item. Even if you have 4 items and 2 Manuf q’s $1/2 each, the register attaches that $1/2 to *both* items and again the RR will not take b/c there’s nothing of it to attach to. So if you buy 4 items, have 4 manuf q’s and want to use 4 RRs, you would need to add in 4 small fillers, so each coupon & RR has an item to attach to.
For fillers, I try to buy stuff we need vs candy, like canned items 2/$1, peroxide or alcohol 2/$1 or Wags single roll toilet paper is pretty cheap! Sometimes I’ll find seasonal pencils in the stationery aisle or around the clearance area. Some stores have $0.10-$0.25 candy in a bowl by the register.
I hope this makes sense. Wags is one confusing store, but once you learn the ins and outs, it’s easier to navigate.
Oh, afa the Irish Spring IP q… that is a big YMMV (your miles may vary) The 2 Wags in my area that I shop a lot, do not take manuf q’s with other store logos’. I’ve tried explaining like you have, that the fine print says it’s redeemable at stores accepting coupons, but it’s like talking to a brick wall!!! It’s just not worth the hassle of arguing. I believe there’s a $1 digital Irish Spring offer still available you can clip to add to your BR card. Just go to Walgreens.com/Coupons . When you check out, tell the cashier you have digital offers and they should see on the screen that it applied. I’ve read some have issues with the digital offers, but I didn’t have any trouble with the $1 Irish Spring, it came off correctly on my transaction today.
Thanks for explaining, Mel. Walgreen’s has too many rules and variables IMHO. I like to save money, but sometimes it is not worth it if it is so much trouble. I appreciate you telling me about the fillers, I wouldn’t have thought of that. If I bought something that I didn’t need to me it’s no savings, but the small things you suggest are great. Thanks again.
Can you get two different items with the coupons and get two different offer from Checkout51?
No, the limit is 1 offer, no matter where or what scent you purchase.
Looks like the Irish Spring offer reset on Checkout51 today. So if you bought 1 body wash earlier in the wk, then you can buy another body wash and submit for the new offer (but only til Sat as that’s the last day the sale/RR will print at Wags)
Thank you!
