What is the benefit of pedestals? Is it just to raise the appliances off the ground so you don’t have to bend so low?

    • Laura

I think they are storage drawers too. Raising the machines would be so helpful! I want these pedestals so much, but they’re like $200 each and I can’t justify that price!

Putting them on pedestals are life-changing! And I recommend also buying exercise mats or think plastic to put on top of them to absorb the vibrations of the washer. We had our pedestals built and had them put insulation inside of them.

Thank you for posting this! Please continue to post awesome deals like this!! I’m in the process of buying a home and know I will need a new washer and dryer when the time comes — wish I already had the house and knew my measurements 🙂

How exciting! You’re so welcome Courtney!

I used to love my front loader but then it started to smell like mildew and nothing I did would get rid of it. I am known as a very clean/tidy person and nothing helped! I left it open to dry, used vinegar, and all the other tricks from pinterest and it just never went away. Not worth the hassle in my opinion.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer! Sorry your front loader began to smell 🙁 Thanks for sharing your experience!

Are you leaving the door open at all times except in use? I’ve not had issues except when someone forgets and closes the doors.

    • Kristi

I had that problem a few weeks ago. I had tried bleach, vinegar, and Thieves cleaner on only the cleaning cycle. I, then, read an article that said to run your hottest setting with a cleaner to get rid of the smell. So I ran the heavy duty cycle on hot, first with bleach, then again with vinegar. It worked! No more smelly washer!!!

You could try to open up the front of the machine and clean out the filter. My machine started to act funny and smelled some and I never knew there was a built in filter for the pump. My machine is pushing almost 10 years which is unheard of now a days. Maybe that would help!

Does anyone have these models? How are they? On another note, my husband (who is NOT usually a handy guy) built me a wooden platform for my washer and dryer using plans he found online. It was simple and much cheaper than buying pedestals.

I have them and what we did was we stacked them on top of each other. Safes a ton of room in my laundry and now where the dryer used to be I have cubbies for the kids shoes. I like the dryer but I HATE the washer. If you clothes that may get heavy when wet like towels or a duvet cover the washer doesn’t spin very well at the end and you have to take items out…wet! It’s a mess when we have to do that.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for your honest feedback Jackie!

Forgot to add maybe I like the dryer because we went with the higher model that had the steam technology 😊. But the washer is the one advertised

Purchased GE front loaders a couple of years back. Our daughter also had the same set, as did my sister-in-law. Had nothing but trouble from day one, for all three sets. Talk about buyer’s remorse. Will not purchase another washer or dryer from GE. Ever.

Buy Spoed Queen brand. Best washer we have ever had and 5 yr warranty on everything. They run trouble free for an average of 25 years.

DO NOT BUY A FRONT LOADER!! We have the Samsung front loader since 2012. First it started to smell and make our cloths smell. The reason is you have to leave the door open for the air to come in and dry the washer when its not in use. Top loaders don’t have to worry about this because the lid never locks and seal and air can get in. My wash broke last week because what they call a “spider” that holds the tub up broke. I found out that this “spider” is made out of aluminum and the HE soap that you have to use with these washers corrodes the “spider” over time and they break. Literally the tub will no longer spin. Our extended warranty just ended in April. Now I have to buy a new washer. As you might be able to tell. I’m getting a top loader. 🙂

My Samsung front loader just broke this weekend. Same issue… Spider arm. I’m switching to a top loader too. It was only 5 years old.

I agree with sticking to top loads. Our front load died at 7 yrs. the ball bearings just fell apart. Never had a problem with odor but it was less efficient in getting the water out on the spin cycle. My top load is so much better! Love everything about it.
