Cheaper than the Kohl’s deal posted a few days back!
I really want this one. I bought the 6qt duo plus but if I could do a do over I would get the 8 qt and the 3qt instead! The only reason for the 8 qt is it has a larger surface for using the saute mode and the 3 qt because I like to make smaller batches of rice and eggs. After getting mine on cyber monday, I literally use the thing everyday and even started making my own yogurt again. I have only had one fail and was still edible and even delicious.
Would this size be good for a family of 3?
I think a 6 would be better. This is more for sides and less for full meals. In my opinion.
How do you keep the flavors of your savory dishes from transferring? Do you use different covers? Do they sell covers separately?
They sell separate sealing rings and a glass cover for when your using it as a crock pot. I take the sealing ring off after each use and I don’t store it inside the pot. This helps a lot. The yogurt function isn’t pressure cooking so I don’t even have the ring on when making it.
Most people purchase multiple sealing rings to prevent flavors from transferring.
Flavors don’t transfer on to other foods- I always leave the lid off for a couple of days to allow it to air out and this helps to lessen the smells. Love the Instant Pot!!
I haven’t found the flavors transfer. But boy when I have a meal that I’ve used garlic and onion.. whewww that ring just stinks! I soak it in a slurry of warm water and baking soda, which helps somewhat kill the strong garlic/onion scent. I keep my pot on the counter, the lid is upside down on the base, with the ring sitting right on top until I need to use it, then I attach it in the lid. My husband walks by, he’s like what is that smell?? What are you cooking now???? I have to tell him it’s just the ring. He has a very sensitive nose.
Would this be a good gift for a single person, or too small?
If they usually only cook for 1, then yes. For 2 or more I would do at least the 6!
Did Kohl’s stop carrying this? I can’t find it on the website
I couldn’t either
They carry it but are sold out right now. It became a hot Christmas gift and places are having a hard time time keeping them in stock.
This is crazy, it’s like you buy 1 and then they offer a different size or type and you need to buy another.. theres not enough space in most kitchens I know for all this, lol.
I know! I have the 6 qt and now that I see the baby one, I gotta have it! But I just can’t justify buying one, I don’t have the room!
I just bought this one. We are a family of 3 and I only cook a few nights a week. I do not have a lot of kitchen space so I think this would work better for us.
This is still or back in stock for the same price.
Yay! Thanks for letting us know!
It cannot cook than 3 cups..12 cups Serbs to be for 8qt. Please change the description
OMG I was thinking the same thing…12 cups of rice in 3qts of space?? 🤣
