I just bought the Dover How To Draw. It was perfect for my 5 year old who longs to draw but seems to be missing some innate artistic ability. On his first attempts, he was able to draw recognizable figures! It is definitely very basic but just what he needed!

Good to know! I keep thinking about buying these for my almost 4.5 year old but wasn’t sure if she was too young.

I just bought some of these from the last post. My 9year old loves them but my 5 year old struggles with her drawings and isn’t enjoying it as much.

I would definitely start with the Dover How to Draw. It shows them how to use simple shapes to create drawings. My 4 year old can follow a few of the illustrations in the 101 animals but it really frustrates my 5 year old. Both of them enjoyed the Dover How to Draw and I have seen my 5 year old be more willing to draw on his own after using the Dover book.

Not sure if anyone knows about the store called ‘Amazing Savings’ but they have awesome books like these and many other educational cute kids books for $1.99 – $2.99.
