I’m Wearing Walmart From Head to Toe… Yes or No? Let Me Know!

I’m so excited to introduce a new series here on the blog and on our Hip2Save Instagram account. Every Wednesday, I’m putting together a complete outfit head to toe – all purchased from Walmart! I did a little shopping last week, and you guys – I was so surprised by what I found. To be honest, I guess I’ve never really looked at the clothes at Walmart before, but I’m so pumped to share these outfits with you.

My goal while shopping at Walmart was to find regular priced clothes, rather than clearance items, so I could share deals that were available to everyone, everywhere. That being said, I do realize that you can find lower priced items when you shop the HOT Walmart clearance deals we post on Hip2Save, but this is a great alternative if you need something now, and don’t want to wait and watch for a deal.

I had so much fun putting these outfits together and the prices were so good! I even included jewelry and shoes too!

So let’s get to it! Here is my first Walmart Wednesday outfit. Drumroll please…. 🥁

Note that we’ve linked to items available online where available, however some of these items are in-store only.

I love it!!! I want those skinny jeans nowšŸ™‚

  2. amy111

That looks great on you, Collin! I’m sure it would look like a maternity shirt on me, and forget skinny jeans lol. I just picked up the workout clothes from Walmart that you posted about last week, and was bummed that most does not fit. I’m not liking the feel of the yoga pants at all. Will be returning them, but thanks for the awesome deals!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry to hear they didn’t work out for ya. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  3. Cori

Iā€™m in agreement with some below that the quality of most clothing items Iā€™ve bought at Walmart has not been good. Iā€™ve tried several items at different times to see if it was just bad luck but the outcome has always been the same. The fabrics donā€™t last. The colors donā€™t last . The seams arenā€™t strong and sometimes not straight. Iā€™ve always treated my clothing delicately and rarely machine dry anything I wear so I know Iā€™m not ā€œmistreatingā€ my clothes. Youā€™re not saving money if you have to keep buying new items because they donā€™t last.

  4. Steph

Can I put in a request for a tall and also for a plus sized team member to do this too? Those jeggings would be capris on me (which i would still wear). Iā€™d love to see something for all body types using different team members because, letā€™s be honest, itā€™s really easy to find size 2 cute clothes!

    • A.Rich

      Agree!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome idea! I am passing along to the team! šŸ™‚

  5. LeeLee

I love buying clothes at Walmart for myself and my grands. I have found that shopping online I can sometimes find even better deals. The things I have bought have held up. I get lots of compliments and people are always amazed that I bought it at Walmart. It comes down to personal preference, and clearly there is a lot on here. Thank you H2S! You guys rock!! šŸ˜€

  6. Donna

    Super cute!!!!

  7. JA

You look adorbs! Btw, got our jammies today and they are so soft and snuggly!

    • Karen

      What Jammies!

      • JA

There was a Walmart post last week about 3 piece jammie sets online clearance for $6. I treated myself and daughter to them and they are super nice!

        • Julia

So glad to hear this! I will be picking my 3 sets of jammies up today!!

  8. Connie

I like Walmartā€™s clothing WAY better than Target anymore. I hadnā€™t shipped for clothing at Target in ages and went the other day and their clothes were AWFUL. I buy lots of basics at Walmart, but just be prepared for it only to last one season. They do seem to wear out quickly.

  9. Mia

I rarely got to Walmart anymore but had to pick something up before a trip. I actually found a cute zebra shirt for $11, black pants for $7.88 (that I had to do a DIY hem because they were too long for my 5’4 legs), and a black sweater for $11 that I loved. I was in shock! Plus, I have gotten a ton of compliments every time I wear them. I usually buy from the Loft or Banana Republic. (I’ve only had them a month, so I hope they hold up.) I also bought a pair of navy athletic leggings for $20 that I wasn’t quite as pleased with. The waist was loose a few hours into wearing them but I carry my weight in my thighs and have a much smaller waist, so this wasn’t completely surprising.

  10. Kasey

You look amazing on anything! šŸ™‚ The only bad thing is Wal-Marts vary drastically on the clothing choices they offer. My local Walmart sells literally nothing stylish- for children or adults. I made a comment to an employee once- because it came up in context, I wasnā€™t just looking to complain about the clothes- and she told me that the manager of the clothing department was older and doesnā€™t order ā€œmodernā€ things for their store. Lol! Also, When I shop at other Walmarts farther from home I honestly feel that their regular prices on adult clothes are too much and I can do much better at brand name stores when shopping sales and clearance. Maybe Iā€™m too cheap but I would rather get brand name at a discount or gently used second hand store than pay more at Wal-Mart.

    • kait

I agree… I have tons of “Nordstroms brands” tops from goodwill that cost me $5-7, I’d rather take my chances there than spend twice as much on a polyester top from Walmart.

I will say, though, that the $2 camis are totally worth the price, I wear one of them (or one from F21) every day and they hold up pretty well for the use they get!

    • Laura

I completely agree. Growing up, my mother would only let us shop at dept store sale and clearance racks. I never had those cheesy character shoes all my friends had, even though I wanted them. But my mom always said, we need to buy necessities at good prices and they need to last. So our clothes always lasted the whole school year. Now with boys of my own, I occasionally buy something at Walmart bc itā€™s cute and boooooooy does it wear, fade, tear easily. So that $6.87 jammy that lasted 4-6 washes, I could have bought on clearance at Kohlā€™s for $8 and it would last until he grew out of it… live and learn šŸ™‚

  11. Nina

I think regardless of the views on the Walton family and the political views on Walmart, at the end of the day, people want affordable prices for their everyday living needs and places like Walmart supply that need for millions of people in the country. If you want cheap prices, unfortunately that includes cheap labor to make it possible.. but that goes for expensive clothes and items as well at expensive stores. Most of its made in China anyway, unfortunately, which makes it worse when youā€™re buying an expensive item and the person who made it was paid pennies.

  12. Luna

Nice post! I love your outfit but can you let us know after few washes. I have Hanes sweatshirts which I bought for $3 through your posts and they are getting boring because they do not want to wear off even after 5 years šŸ˜¬

  13. Glenna

    Love this!! Thank you!! šŸ˜ƒ

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re welcome! Glad you like the post! šŸ™‚

  14. Stacy

The outfit is cute, but I also feel that the Walmart clothes Iā€™ve purchased just donā€™t hold up well, even considering the price. I tend to splurge for quality on items like shoes, jackets, and purses, so I try to keep my budget for other clothing items more modest. I have better luck at Old Navy and sometimes Target for around the same price, but that often requires chasing sales. Really, many of my favorite items come from thrift, consignment, or eBay.

  15. Suzy

What a cute outfit! I love that blouse. Now is want to run out to Walmart!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thank you! šŸ™‚

  16. Lk

I have a couple of blouses purchased at WM when my son started college. Heā€™s an MD now so its been 11 years. Good deal. white Stag brand.

  17. Susan

My daughter has those jeggings and this is her second season wearing them. I also have some I wear with tunics and Iā€™m going on 3 years with some of them. Not everything lasts as long as I would like, but I have had good luck with the items Iā€™ve bought. Until a couple of years ago, I always bought their Faded Glory jeans, but found I like others better. I just bought 4 jackets/coats on clearance and love them all. I also shop Old Navyā€™s clearance and sales for dresses I can pair with them, so many days my outfits cost about $20 (or less if I hit a great deal) and I get so many compliments. Sure, some things are hit or miss, but, for the most part Iā€™m pleased. Knit items seem to wear out the quickest, but thatā€™s pretty much on par with other brands. How theyā€™re laundered can affect the life, too.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for taking the time to leave such a helpful comment! Great tips!

  18. lilmamajoey

I would love to see same type of post for other stores as well! I love HIP2SAVE (& will continue to check back daily:) but personally hate Wal-Mart as WM ruined some many small businesses in our small Colorado mountain town šŸ™ Check out “The Wal-mart Movie”.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Stay tuned as we may do similar posts with other stores too! šŸ‘

  19. Maria Beltran Cantres

Super cute Collin!!! I got some jean leggings last week for $3.88 and those tanks are awesome i have every single color and at $1.68 cant beat that!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So awesome!! And yes, you can’t beat the $1.68 price tag on those tanks! šŸ™‚

  20. Penny

    Love the Outfit!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thank you! šŸ™‚

  21. T

Love the idea of a look using products from one store. What about a makeup look using all one brand? You could do looks using ELF makeup, Covergirl, Revlon, etc. Just an idea

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Love that idea! Thanks for sharing!

      • Carla

If your Walmart is one that carries Kokie brand makeup ….. It is a must try !!!!

  22. Jan

As a plus Size gal, I can’t say that I relate to a post about clothing from the juniors department. That said, I do think it’s really nice to see a cute outfit that almost anyone would be able to go find locally at a reasonable price. A lot of people are saying thrift stores, and I love them and frequent them often, but I also have the luxury of being home with my kids and having more time. When I think about people who we truly need to shop there, a lot of them are working multiple jobs, commuting, parenting and so much more. So for truly working class people to hit the thrift store where it’s hit or miss, I can totally understand why that might not work for them. That’s why a post like this is perfect. If you’re open minded, you can find good basics at a reasonable price.

  23. acgold

The two best clothing items from Walmart are the No Nonsense denim leggings- they are made by the same company as Hue and the price and fit are so much better. The Sweet Nothing leggings in black in the shaper section are great under tunics and sheer dresses. They was like a dream- I have some pairs for 5 years and still look great. They are heavy weight and you don’t see through them.

    • JA

Thank you. I need some new pants. I will check these out.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to look for these items next time I’m at Walmart! šŸ™‚

      • Marcie

        Same here!

  24. Shannon

You look great! You always do a good job of putting together cute outfits! I want to Pinterest your outfit looks. šŸ‘ŒšŸ’Æ

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awww… thanks!!

  25. VickiB

    Collin is so cute!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thank you! šŸ˜˜

  26. Laura

    Cute top!

  27. April

    Great outfit love this idea

  28. shirley

My daughter has the flat and it is very uncomfortable. I do not recommend.

    • Marcie

I was wondering about that… I’m all about comfort in shoes nowadays.

  29. Amymae1100

I just bought some jordache jeggings there for $5! They look and fit better than all my NY&Co and Express jeans! But, more importantly, I need to know where you got that jacket though, cause I love it! <3

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I actually bought the jacket years ago from a thrift store. šŸ™‚

  30. Suzy

    You look beautiful as always!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks Suzy! šŸ˜Š

  31. Sherri

    Very cute! Good job!

  32. Tammy

Great job Collin! I hope you continue these Walmart Wednesday posts! I mean, you got that whole outfit, from top to bottom, including the jewelry for, what, around $50.00? Donā€™t know where else you could do that! I couldnā€™t wear most of it because Iā€™m definitely not a ā€œjunior sizeā€ but gives me inspiration and know to try on things you might not have thought of before. (Outfit looks adorable on you!). I tend to be rough on my clothes with snags or spills, like a five year old (!) so I definitely donā€™t like to spend a lot on my clothes & if I do happen to ruin something I donā€™t feel so bad about it knowing a top was only $10.00 or so as opposed to say $35.00 or $40.00! I work in a pretty casual workplace as well so for me itā€™s more about comfort than anything these days and itā€™s definitely not a place to wear ā€œexpensiveā€ clothes. (I work for Child Protective Services). Iā€™m also in between sizes right now so donā€™t want to spend a lot on sizes that might not fit in the near future. I recently bought two pair of Leviā€™s Signature Stretch jeans at Walmart (so comfortable) and they were $20.00 – and stretchy enough that I can actually breathe in them & thatā€™s a plus! A lot of people canā€™t afford more expensive clothes or just donā€™t want to spend the money or have any fashion sense, like myself (!), so I for one am looking forward to more of these posts! Thank you & your team! šŸ˜Š

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thank you so much for all the feedback! I REALLY appreciate it! šŸ˜ƒ Oh and I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for those Levi’s stretch jeans next time I’m at Walmart!

      • Marcie

I also have a pair of the Levi’s signature and they are super comfy. The lee riders skinny jeans are comfy as well.

  33. Janine

Hi Collin, I love the jacket that you are wearing while you were shopping. Where’s that from? Did you get a good deal on that as well? Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Janine!

I actually did get a great deal on the jacket too! I purchased it from a local thrift store quite a few years ago! šŸ˜ƒ

  34. *Angela-Miles*

You always make me grin really big! You radiate so much joy Collin šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚ . I have several pairs of those jeggings and have enjoyed them…I hate jeans so jeggings and leggings are my go to pants. Also the Danskin sport bras they carry are so comfy, I have a handful I bought in 2015 for $3 a piece and they are still going strong. I love their danskins pants also and their faded glory blouses! Love Walmart an kmart clothes šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‰ (and shoes Lol)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the sweet comment and product recommendations! šŸ™‚ I’ll have to check out those sports bras next time I’m there.

  35. Mommyof5

    Cute outfit Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thank you!

  36. Mel

Great idea Collin! You look so stinkin cute and canā€™t believe itā€™s all Wally World! (though you would look cute in a paper sack) I usually get groceries and kids stuff but never think to look for mama clothes. Gonna get me some new digs next time I go! šŸ˜œ

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awww… thanks Mel!

  37. Leslie

Adorbs! I love the outfit. Another great product that Wal-Mart carries is their sueded leggings. They are usually 5.88 per pair. They may be slightly higher for Plus–I think 7.88. They are buttery-soft and hold up pretty well. I mix them with my “buttery soft” named-brand blouses and really cannot tell a radical difference between the quality of the name brand and the Walmart brand.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Oh sounds so comfy!! šŸ˜

  38. Nadiya

While there are some nice clothes at Walmart they are definitely overpriced. Besides that, Walmart almost does not sell bottoms in size 2. I still shop there sometimes, but I prefer Ross for clothing. The prices are better and more options (more selection).

  39. LC

    Those pants are reall ycute!

  40. Frugal Lady

šŸ’• this post. You look like a model to me. That top youā€™re wearing looks good on you. .. Surprisingly, Walmartā€™s clothes held up pretty well on me unlike Targetā€™s clothes. So kudos to you for wearing them head to toe!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the sweet comment!

  41. Sallys

I like this post, I have to swing by Walmart to pick up an order for rafts you posted about a week ago. I planned to just zip in and out, but now I will take an extra couple minutes to check out the clothes!

  42. Suzanne

Please do more of these segments! Its a great idea and more realistic than subscription boxes! Thank you!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re welcome!! Glad to hear you enjoy these posts.

  43. Kara

This outfit is super cute. I got my duster at Walmart for $16 instead of spending $70 on a LulaRoe version. However, I get even better deals I feel like at Maurices. Just shopped there last week and picked up a dress and 6 shirts for $45. They had a huge sale going on. Just catching things in the right place at the right time!!

  44. Lena

Awesome idea!! Iā€™m ready to see more outfits!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      šŸ‘šŸ™ŒšŸ’ƒ

  45. Terri

Their danskin athletic apparel is amazing and very affordable, buy it there all the time, also the v neck t’s in the Misses and Jrs. department are very good, the prices on their socks and underwear are fantastic, very happy with everything I buy there. Also my favorite handbag was from there I used for a few years and just had to toss it because the inside was pretty nasty. Thanks Collin.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the products you love!

  46. MammaK

As always you look great. I love elephants so I went to Walmart and bought the necklace. Thanks for all you do.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome!! Such a cute necklace! šŸ™‚

  47. Tricia

I love the outfit and accessories!! Keep the challenge going!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks Tricia!

  48. thecastelfamily

I saw that shirt just yesterday! And was so tempted. It looks so cute on you!

I use a clothing subscription, and I use Walmart to fill in for things like leggings, tank tops, and other foundation items. A clothing subscription has worked out great for me! I always have cute things to wear, they pay the postage both ways, and you send the item back dirty! I hardly do any laundry! This service starts at size 10 up, but the great thing is they are adding all sizes starting in March. I have used them for over two years and can only say great things about them. Use the link above for your first 30 Days free and $10 off if you decide to subscribe. They are totally worth it!

  50. Mayghan Farrin

Am I the only one here who literally only had Walmart clothes and shoes in her Walmart totes and that’s all there is? I am not sure I have more than a couple items not from Walmart and as I think about it. Those Andre from Sam’s club. Walmart parent store!
    Curently I’m rocking $2 lined leggings org. $3.98 a $1.64 cami tanktop $2.68 solid tshirt and a 7$ athletic sweatshirt. …
