Can I buy a membership online without having to activate it in club? I don’t have a sams club in the entire state I live in but would love to shop online.
Hi Julia! I did just speak with customer service and they confirmed that you can activate your membership online. If you need a physical card, you would need to go in store to get that. You can contact Sam’s Club with any additional details on activation, when you head through the link above and scroll down to the “Fine Print”. I plan on visiting in store in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime I did activate mine online with ease. I did that because I want the $20 gift card to post to my account before I head to the store. I already have a Costco account, but this one essentially earned me money, so I couldn’t pass it up. I’ll use it at least a few times over the next year.
My initial cost was actually $42 when I factor in my credit card cash back. I then get a $20 gift card, and since I placed a $50 online order right away I also will be getting the $15 gift card. AmEx also had a promo for a $50 online spend so I’ll get another $10 back. So far net spend is that I actually earned $3. I get the fruit tray which I’ll love, and I’ll donate the cheesecake tray to the teachers at my son’s school since Sam’s Club cheesecake doesn’t do it for me. Thank you Hip2Save for the game info, because that also earned me a free slice of pizza plus drink when I do get to the store; a free rotisserie chicken (yum), and about $8 of coupons which were automatically loaded to my card. About 30 minutes of time paid off big. Thank you!

Hi Leslie! Here are the details I found on that when checking the Fine Print of this offer – “Free offers will be delivered as Instant Savings. Instant Savings, including free fruit tray and free cheesecake will be loaded onto new membership account within 72 hours of membership activation.” Hoping that helps!

Yep, the fruit tray and cheesecake are loaded to your card and you pick them up at the store. Also, for those who aren’t purchasing online due to shipping costs, I just wanted to confirm that a gift card purchase online has free shipping, and I did just receive my $20 credit from Sam’s Club for a purchase I made on Sunday. Great deal! I purchased Regal Theater gift cards.
