Shopko to Close All Remaining Stores by June 2019
More bad news for Shopko Shoppers…
It looks like the other shoe has finally dropped and Shopko will be closing all remaining stores by this summer.
If you’ll recall, we posted about some of the Shopko closures last month after Shopko filed for Bankruptcy (just one more in a long list of retail chains to do so recently) and called out their plans to close over 130 stores – which was almost 70% of its locations.
Even so, we still remained hopeful that they could pull themselves out of this mess with their plans to restructure, but as it turns out that is not going to be the case.
In a United States Bankruptcy Court document filed on March 18th, Shopko announced they will be liquidating their assets and closing all remaining locations by mid-June 2019.

I live in the upper Midwest where this news is absolutely devastating for small communities. The Shopko Hometown stores are lifelines for residents as well as employers of same. A lot of people who are currently within 10 miles of a Shopko Hometown are at least 30 miles away from a Walmart, and online shopping is at least 2 days away! Very sad!

For all of us bargain shoppers none of the stores in my areas are very good deals yet. It is only the percentage off of the MSRP

This is so sad on so many levels. I have several friends who work at Shopko. I will definitely miss their sales and deals. Shopko has been my GO TO for Back to School because they had the best deals by far.
