This is an amazing deal for us, we live 40 minutes from the Canadian border. And always have some of their change so with the current rate of exchange it would be .75 of a US penny(if we A Canadian penny)

  2. Kitty

    How’s the Netherlands flurry?

    • Lauren

I’m curious, too. That’s definitely the one I want to try!

      • Lisa

I can attest the Stroopwafels alone are delish! 🙂

        • riss

I agree! We buy stroopwafel once or twice a year. So it’s like vanilla flurry with chopped cookie waffle with creme filling.

    • Jackie

I had it at my McDonald’s the other day and at the entire thing. It’s delicious. It’s got a little bit cinnamon and lots of caramel.

    • Berrysaves

      Very sweet

  3. J.H.509

Besides calling, how would I know if my McDonald’s was participating?.?. They never answer at our neighborhood McDonald’s. ಠ_ಠ

    • Bunny

Just called my nearby McDonald’s. Had to speak with three different people before anyone knew if they were participating.

      • MA

Same here! I just spoke to three people. But found out that they are participating at mine from 2-5p.

        • J.H.509

That’s exactly why I don’t want to call

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hmm, good question! Maybe try calling in to their main customer service line to see if they might be able to check for you! 1 (800) 244-6227 Hope that helps!

      • Kaylee

Unfortunately they don’t have a list of participating locations. I can’t get anyone to pick up either so we’ll just go at 2 and hope it works! I have a bunch of little kids who have their coins all ready! 🤞🏼

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

How exciting! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you, Kaylee!

        • J.H.509

          Good luck Kaylee

Is anybody else having problems with McDonalds not wanting to take the app deals. The manager told me that the app isn’t theirs but they do honor it like doordash etc… If I want to use a $1 off two sandwiches they will charge me the full price and take the dollar off of that price not the sale price. So if they are 2 for $5 on sale but normally 2 for $10 she charges me for the 2 for $10 and then takes the dollar off and says I am lucky to get it at that price. LOL

    • hellfiregainz

Could always report that restaurant to higher command and see if that fixes the issue. Ask your manager for corporate number. They msy change their tune.

    • mel

I would talk to the manager. The app IS McDonalds, and it’s a like a loyalty rewards program. If you buy 2/$5 sandwiches, you should get $1 off that price. Not sure why cashiers try to make things more difficult!

      • Jodi P

I’ve never seen them allow an app discount off of already sale-priced items. The cashier probably isn’t making things difficult….the computer/register probably isn’t allowing the additional discount.

        • mel

I used my $1 off sandwiches on the 2/for several times when I had the app. I got a new phone in April though and never re-downloaded the app, so maybe they changed the terms since then.
But the cashier can explain better, than just saying I’m lucky to get $1 off.

    • Blessed

Contact corporate. They don’t have to participate but if you pull up app and it doesn’t say this deal isn’t valid at this location they should.

      • Blessed

Also the extra dollar off is not valid generally with any other offers and it usually is in the wording. So it is normal that you can’t do 2 for 5 plus $1 off

    • Mella

Weird. Maybe it’s a franchise. But they should still accept it.

    • T

You can’t use the discount on the deals.

    • Tina

I agree, normally they don’t give you the deal if you are already getting a deal. So the $1 off sandwich would be off of a reg price one. Not a 2/$5 one.

    • C

@Patricia the mobile app discounts are for NON-SALE items (I believe if you read the offers, it will also state this in the app)… additionally, since McDonald’s is a franchised restaurant, owners can choose if they will accept the mobile app or run certain deals in the app (eg we have one McDonald’s here out of 4 that generally won’t have the “deals” in the app that other stores do- when you’re in the app and select the store you want to go to, it brings up the deals specific to that store).. be sure to read the conditions though; complaining to corporate about something that’s YOUR error or trying to ignore deal offer terms just ruins it for everyone else and makes them want to not offer deals in the future.

    • CW

Absolutely report it to corporate. Every single McD I’ve gone to always honors the app and I’ve been all around my very large state.

And omg the stroopwafel is the BEST!!!

  5. Brenda

McDonald’s is not set up for these types of promotions. Their employees are not even competent enough to use their app deals. I’d pay full price before I would try to cash in on this deal.

    • faby

      They didn’t even know lol

  6. Kerri

I tried the stroopwafel yesterday and it was very yummy!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! Glad you enjoyed that one, Kerri!

  7. Christine

So are the products only available from 2-5? I don’t have any foreign currency, but I’ve got some stuff I want to try!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! You could always call in to your location to see if they will have the items available to purchase at other times. Hope that helps!

  8. JJ

My local McDonald’s posted on FB that it is from 2-5. I have rounded up some coins from Haiti, so I’m definitely going. Thank you!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yay! You’re very welcome! Enjoy!

  9. Collette

I called five McDonalds in my area and none of them are participating. So disappointed…and dont say I need to move. I already know that. Lol! Thx anyway for the Mcdonalds offer. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh bummer! You’re welcome, Collette! Sorry to hear that!

  10. Ash

I just went to my local McDonald’s. They were rude about it but I was able to get the extreme bacon burger. They made me feel like I wanted it for free, when I didn’t! I paid with a canadian coin. The manager was all over the place and everyone was confused and rude. Definitely not worth it, unless you have a good McDonald’s.

    • joni

same here they had no idea what i was talking about when i gave them two coins for the mcflurry and hamburger but i wouldnt get off drive thru so they just gave it to me 🙂

  11. Holly

I went to my local McDonald’s with my hubby and they did the exchange with no problem😄 I just showed them the first link posted on this page and asked if they were participating. We got the bacon burger and the chicken sandwich and they were both yummy😋

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I am so glad you were able to do this, Holly! I’m also happy to hear they were yummy!

  12. Lauren

Lol should have known trying to do this at McDonald’s would be a confusing disaster. I gave up and just paid full price. Every employee was confused at my question and had no idea what this promotion was. 🤦‍♀️

  13. Autumn

I went to my McDonald’s and had a nice cashier. I asked if they participate and he said yes and that he didn’t know anything about it until someone came in earlier. He did it with no problems and was super quick

  14. Ellie

Also had issues at my McDonalds, they had no idea what I was talking about. And they were kind of rude. McDonalds sucks, why do they come up with this promotions if they don’t follow thru?

  15. Meg

The cashiers didn’t know about it, but the managers did. Thank you!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      You are welcome, Meg!

  16. irene

I’m the lucky one — a mature woman who I assume to be the manager was the cashier and confirmed they were participating. There were tons of people (from school being out?) but no one seemed to be getting the deal. Got the chicken sandwich that rung up for $6 and paid with a Canadian $.05. The sandwich was supposed to be Canadian, but tasted like Chicken Parmesan with the tomato sauce and Mozzarella cheese. Give it a try — maybe you’ll get lucky too! Just keep the link handy to show them if needed.

  17. Elena

The cashier did not know about but the manager did. We got 3 sandwiches for 3 coins. The original total was $17.78.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

So awesome to hear you scored this, Elena!

  18. greysw

Someone asked me what did I get when I was walking out (stroopwafel mcflurry), so I told him about this promo and gave him an extra coin. Bring some extra with you 🙂

  19. Julie

My McDonalds would only let me get the tomato mozarella chicken sandwich because I had a Canadian coin and that was the sandwich from Canada. Did I miss something? Couldn’t I choose from any of the four?

    • joni

you were lucky you got anything no one knew about offer but I gave a pence from england they looked so confused lol but after 5 mins of saying check your website they gave it to me

    • Justine

No, you didn’t miss anything. That was their mistake. Any foreign coin should qualify for an int’l menu item. That’s like saying only people with Euros can have the Spanish Burger.

  20. Penny

Thanks! We tried the burger from Spain, the grilled chicken from Canada and the stroopwafle from netherlands. .75. It didn’t seem that anyone other than is and the employees knew about the promo

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

How was the stroopwafel, Penny? I really want to try it!

  21. Amy

Went great at my McD’s. Exchanged 1 Colon from Costa Rica for a Extreme Bacon Burger .

  22. Staci

McDonald’s on 537 in Jackson, nj participates. The manager knew about it, but the cashier didn’t. Thank you!

  23. Thebootchick

Our Indiana McDonald’s told us we could get as much as we wanted, so we tried everything on the menu and took home some for leftovers. We don’t usually eat at McDonald’s, so it was fun, and we got to try some new menu items. Thanks Hip2Save!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

How neat! You’re so welcome! Happy to hear how much fun it was!

  24. Betsy

Thank you so much! I’m loving the tomato mozzarella chicken sandwich!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

YUM! That does sound good, Betsy! You’re welcome!

  25. Carolyn

We live in NC & it worked. I took my 4 kids & we got 4 McFlurries & one of the Spanish burgers for a handful of Canadian nickels & dimes. They were super friendly & had a ziplock bag of coins they had collected during the day. There was even a sign in the back that had the information on it. Thanks for the tip! I would not have known about this otherwise.
My kids loved the burger (I didn’t try it). The Mc Flurries were super good. We were even in the Netherlands earlier this year & my daughter said this one was better than one we had there.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

You are so welcome and glad you could enjoy the time with your kids, Carolyn!

  26. Candy M

Nice It worked! The burger was good. I loved chicken sandwich and McFlurry was yummy! Thank you so much!

  27. C

My location knew about it. The cashier was enthusiastic about getting all kinds of different currency, which made it more pleasant as I was worried about a bad experience! Thanks for letting us know about this awesome deal!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh good! You’re welcome, C! Glad it was a fun time!

  28. Kristi

My kids are obsessed with foreign currency, so we went and paid with some Chinese, Czech, Mexican, and British money. It was fun to go try all the things! Thanks for the heads up!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re welcome, Kristi! SO glad your kiddos enjoyed this promotion!

  29. S

We tested this at a couple of our local McDonald’s- they all worked! They were all super nice and knew about the promo! We paid a total of around five cents for 3 items (great way to get rid of a couple of euro pennies and an obscure country coin)- 2 versions of the chicken sandwich and the stroop McFlurry. Sauce on the chicken is a bit odd but ok. McFlurry was pretty good (beware lots of caramel if you aren’t a caramel fan). If you still have this going on they do count kids as customers- had a mom with a couple small kids in front of me and she got them all the mcflurries with foreign coins

  30. hm

Cashier was clueless until manager walked up, only one item per car at our location, got the chicken mozzarella sandwich and it was kinda meh.

  31. Hill

It worked for me. 5 Canadian cents for the grilled chicken one

  32. Candace

I called around 11:45 this morning and they told me that they WERE participating, but from 2-5. We came in around 4, and they had no clue what I was talking about. They asked me to wait about 5 minutes for the manager might know more. That manager said one per person, but then the shift leader said just 1 per family. It was kinda frustrating, but they weren’t rude, and it was free. We thought about going to a different McDonalds to try something else but figured it wasn’t worth the hassle. We tried the Grand Bacon burger, and it was the best thing I’ve ever gotten from McDonalds, just a little salty. I plan on trying the McFlurry next.

  33. thrifty55

I went in the McDonald’s in town. The gentlemen knew what I was talking about. He helped me right away. They are awesome there. He said I was the only one so far and that was at 4pm.

  34. joni

I called 5 Mcdonalds the managers said they were all participating but not one knew what I was talking about when I went to one and at 2 30 they said i was the first one. no ads about it at any locations that anyone I know went to.

  35. Sue

This would have been more useful yesterday. I got this email at 5:13 pm and promo ended at 5:00. Yesterday’s email gave some info, but not enough to make me want to go.

  36. Berrysaves

Ours was great. They were happy we came in. They only had 4 people all day that participated. Each of us had a coin. And each got something. I had the chicken sandwich. It was good.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I’m really glad to hear of your positive experience, Berrysaves!

  37. hrosana

I went in with no problem and all i ate was delicious.
