Costco finally has a deal. I think Sams is better for me personally. It’s closer and the sign up deal is better.

We have both, and I have compared prices on the items we buy most often, and Sam’s is cheaper on almost all of them. Costco even had my favorite crackers on sale once, but the sale price was more than Sam’s regular price. That combined with the Scan n Go and being able to order online and pick up in store puts Sam’s ahead in my opinion.

But I still prefer Costco, the store is cleaner, more organized, very good return policy and a lot of organic foods. Sam’s club just looks dirty to me.

        • R

My Sams is always clean. 😊

Love the scan & go. Just wish I could use a gift card with it.

I’m so jealous of both of you I have to travel 70 miles to Sam’s and 110 to Costco.

    • riss

Our Costco is 3.5 miles away and Sam’s is about 2 miles away. And they are building a new Costco 6 miles away. Sorry you have to drive that far just to get to our favorite stores.

After years of paying for the regular Costco membership, I went with the more expensive executive membership which is double the price. With the percentage you receive back each year has now made our Costco membership free. I wish I would have done it years ago. Just thought I’d mention it if you shop at Costco as much as my husband and I do. You can ask their membership desk how much you would have received back before you decide.

    • tanya

I do the same. I get the percentage back, pays my $120 membership and I have a little more money to cash out.

    • MakoKaKeni!

I agree. You get more cash back when you use it for gas too.

Didn’t the last deal (around Christmas time?) have free items as well as the gift card? Should I wait until to see if they do that deal again?

    • Sam

Yes they had many free offers like free pizza, free kitchen towel, free sparkling water , 20 gc and coupon code too.

Does this work if I was the primary card holder (now expired but less than 18 months) and had my husband as the additional card holder? Could he now get the membership in his name?

    • Momof7

I believe I have seen other comments that say yes it works that way.

  6. Suzanne

Yay!! Finally!! Thanks for posting! We went back to Sam’s since it was closer for a while. Now there’s a Costco about the same distance and I’ve been waiting for a deal to join again. Sam’s products are just not as good IMO. Plus we really love Costco pizza!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh perfect! You’re so welcome, Suzanne!

  7. Sara

Hi , does that mean they raised the gold star cards from $55 now $60?

  8. Jenn

My hubby just renew his membership 2 weeks ago and Im his secondary. Can he return his and I’ll be the one to sign in as new member to take advantage of this promo. Am I considered a new member since im not the primary? TIA.

  9. Carin

I keep getting an error message 🙁

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! Thanks for letting us know! It seems this offer has ended.
