Disney Store at Target

Target just announced a new partnership designed to combine the magic of Disney with the fun of shopping at Target!

Target recently unveiled plans to open Disney Stores inside 25 select Target locations this October, with 40 additional locations planned to open by the same time next year. View a complete list of the first 25 locations to launch on the Target website.

These new “shop-in-shop” Disney Stores will feature music, interactive displays, photo ops and a seating area where families can watch Disney movie clips. More than 450 items will be available, including toys, games, plush, apparel, accessories, home products, holiday items, and collectibles (many of which have only been available at the Disney Store to date).

Beginning October 4th, you will be able to shop the Disney Store at Target both online and in-store – prices are expected to range from $2–$200, with many items under $20.

To reciprocate, the Walt Disney World Resort will be opening a new Target store in 2021, bringing visiting families a little extra convenience when they travel to the happiest place on earth. This new Target store will open at Flamingo Crossings Town Center in 2021, located at the western entrance to the Walt Disney World Resort.

    Yes! I love this!!!! 😀

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      We do, too!

  2. jessawyer

Wonder how they determined where to place them. Some states have two. None in the greater Phoenix metro area at all. Bummer!

I’ve overheard target managers that they’re redesigning all the targets to an octagon layout so it will incorporate brands and sections. How I’m not sure haha

      • R2

Huh, interesting. JCPenney attempted something similar years ago, but it apparently wasn’t particularly successful since they’re still closing stores. I think Disney is a good bet for Target, though.

  3. Brittany

Guess this is why our local Disney store broke their contract with the mall and closed. My four year-old cried 😭

    • Betty

Honestly the leases in the mall are going up exponentially, making it hard for the stores to remain open. The Disney store is a separate division and entity than that of the Walt Disney Company.

  4. Stefanie

Yay! The store closest to me is on the list!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Wahoo!

  5. Tina

Great…thank goodness for drive up. Otherwise we would be going through the store while my 2 year old screams “MY mickey! MY mickey!” As he shoves my face out of the way like he did just now when he saw this post!

    • Tina

I just went to look at the list. The target just down our street is one of them!

  6. Cindy

The list doesn’t have even one store in all of New England.

  7. Megan

So random (but fun!) that they chose our little South Jordan Target as the only Utah store on the list. Maybe to space it out from the downtown Salt Lake Disney store. It would be interesting to know how they chose. I would have expected one of the bigger Targets like the Super Target in Sandy maybe, not our little South Jordan one. It’ll be fun to see what they do!

    • Heather

I’m as surprised as you are since that’s the one closest to me too!!

  8. Leslie

Personally & this is my opinion, please allow me to say it without being bashed. I don’t like this idea, I like the idea of going to Disney for my Mickey fix. A toy here & there is ok but a whole line, not for me. Thx

    • Donna

Never be sorry for having your own opinion! If people can’t respect that then they are the one with a problem 😉

    • jessawyer

For the most part, I agree with you. But, I rarely drag my kids all the way to the mall. If I go to the Disney store, it always seems to be by myself so I can get in and out. So, something like this might be an opportunity for them to see some nicer Disney stuff without the necessary mall trip.

This is virtually the same thing in JCPenny

  10. Joy

They are trying to make Target too boutique-like and it is so hard to find staple pieces now in clothing and to navigate carts in the clothing aisles. 🤔

    • jessawyer

I agree, particularly for clothes. I used to like it because they would have some classic staple elements that were decent enough quality but not too expensive. Now it seems like they are trying too had with these fashion heavy designs and higher price points. I was so bummed when they got rid of Merona. To me, that was the beginning of the end!

    • shop4mybabies

I agree. I loathe our targets remodel…no exaggeration i was at the store at LEAST 3 times a week…now i go once a month. they closed our cafe for a starbucks, there are 4 starbucks within 40 seconds of the Target. They have pop up little sections all over the store with random crap. I complained to Target just to vent clearly understanding there is nothing they can do once they’ve spend millions on a remodel…but I don’t understand how this stuff tests well before they implement it widely.

No Los Angeles location. I’m upset ☹️

  12. MommySpendsLess

I’m happy for those of you that love Disney but personally I’m dismayed. The last thing my local Targets need is another section. I hardly shop at Target anymore (I used to be there once or twice a week) because navigating the store has become so difficult. They’ve crammed the clothing so close together to make room for random displays that I can’t squeeze a cart through many areas then I have to loop along a circular path around a display full of stuff I don’t need. Some toy aisles are parrallel but some are perpendicular – no more glancing down the aisles to find what I’m looking for. The make-up aisles are a similarly confusing maze. I also find that their new groupings mean I have to check 3 different spots to find all the options – for example there was sunscreen on an end cap, sunscreen in the skin care aisle, sunscreen up front near checkout and likely some in the back with the seasonal summer items. I’d prefer it if they just arranged the goods logically so I can find what I want quickly. I actually browse and impulse buy less because I’m frustrated and worn out by the time I find what I came in for. There’s even been a couple times that I’ve given up and gone home to purchase what I need online.

    • jessawyer

If I’m not entirely sure where something is at in my local store, I go online and find the item I need, or a similar item that would most likely be placed with it. When you select your store, you will be able to see what aisle it’s in. That has been a lifesaver for me more than once. I don’t want to randomly walk around either!

      • MommySpendsLess

        Thanks for the tip!
A bit silly we have to resort to online searches to find something at a store but I appreciate the idea.

    • shop4mybabies

EXACTLY!! I said all of this and more to Target. it makes zero sense, but i’m spending less money so win?

      • MommySpendsLess

Thanks for sharing! I was wondering if I was the only one who hated the new layout.

I don’t shop for Disney anymore but I notice the stores nearest to Dallas are either halfway to Ft Worth, or 3 suburbs north of Dallas.

  14. Laura villotta

We love Disney! But I do not shop at Target. They are too expensive, their clothes in all departments are very expensive and the styles are nothing that my family wears. Give me Walmart any day.

  15. Lora

It’s not the same without the Disney magic. I miss my Disney store of the past with the Disney movie playing in front of the stuffed animals and Disney music emanating throughout the store. You could see the large Disney figures in the store front windows. The people working there were overly sweet. I loved it. The Disney section at JCPenney’s doesn’t make me feel the same way and neither will having a Disney section at Target.
