Wow, great deal! I’m feeling like a bad homeowner… Raise your hand if you thought this was only supposed to be done once a year? When we had our new furnace installed, I thought that’s what they told us? I’m wondering if the savings from the efficiency of changing it monthly would be greater than the cost of the filter each month?
You can burn up your unit if it gets clogged, so it’s definitely worth the cost of changing them!
It’s crazy though, we’ve been homeowners for 20 years and have only ever changed the filter once a year! Are we seriously the only ones in the world who don’t know to do it once a month?!
I think it depends on your unit. Our new system only uses 1 large 5″ thick filter at the unit to be changed annually.
It will depend on your individual situation, but I change mine every 3 months. I’ve never had any HVAC company say to do it more often and mine don’t look like they really need it any sooner.
You’re exactly right. Not only that, but you’re breathing all that filthy air. God forbid you have pets. Allergies like crazy if you have dirty a/c filters.
Since upgrading to better air filters (bye bye old school blue) everyone has experienced; less sinus issues, improved control on asthma, and fewer sneezing episodes! We suffer from all of the above and Honeywell has proven to be a great asset.
