Bed Bath & Beyond Planning to Close 40 Stores This Year
Sad news from the retail world…
Bed Bath & Beyond is closing 40 underperforming stores this year, and USA TODAY has revealed which stores are on the chopping block. This is not the end of the popular home goods retailer, though.
The company will still continue to operate over 900 Bed Bath & Beyond retail locations nationwide, plus its other stores including Cost Plus World Market, buybuy Baby, Christmas Tree Shops andThat!, and Harmon Face Values.
Company spokeswoman Jessica Joyce said,
We’ve just given over 150 of our most popular stores a multi-million dollar update and are continually investing in our stores and digital platform to give customers an even better experience however they choose to shop with us.
Some of the 40 closing stores, which are located in 18 states and the District of Columbia, have already shut their doors. The remaining stores on the list are expected to close during the first half of 2020. A complete list of the Bed Bath & Beyond stores affected by this wave of closures can be seen here.

Doesnât surprise me, even with coupons prices are not competitive.
Not surprised!
Theyâre expensive! I call them âBed, Bath and Broke.â đ
I was so sad that just last week the World Market in my Northern California city closed:(
The second they said I can no longer use a coupon on clearance was the last time i set foot in their store. So long!
I haven’t been in one these in years. Way too expensive! I hate to see people lose their jobs though.
I could never find the appeal to this place.. other then their Brookstone products. I know a lot of people love it but too many options nowadays.
I knew mine wasn’t going to be one of the ones closing, it’s always crazy busy! It’s a great place to buy As Seen On TV items because you can use a coupon!
Sad news. Luckily my stores are not closing at this time. After coupons, Iâm finding their prices competitive.
I’ve found some amazing deals there since January. Two packs of electric window candles for $1.20, large Yankee candles for $5, a Kitchenaid coldbrew coffee maker for $15 ($79.99 msrp).
Sad news! My mom and I have found such great deals at multiple BB&B locations over the years. Just today, my mom came home with 3 queen-sized bamboo duvets (retail $130 each originally), a pure cotton queen sheet set, a small ceramic planter, and a large ceramic planter plate for $70 total before tax. Luckily, the stores near us are not closing. I highly recommend checking BB&B in-stores for sales. There are a ton of great deals if you look for them!
I love my local BB&B store. I find lots of great deals at the change of each season and after each holiday. It is the one store where I can get all of those cool yet hard-to-find gadgets (like the Lint Lizard)!
