More retail stores are closing… 🙁

UPDATE: The first 63 stores that will close by the end of this year have been announced. Head here to find out if your store is on the list.

Bed Bath & Beyond has announced that they plan to close approximately 200 stores over the next two years. This decision has been based upon declining sales during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to USA TODAY, the company said that most of the store closings are expected to begin after the 2020 holiday shopping season.

“We believe Bed Bath & Beyond will emerge from this crisis even stronger, given the strength of our brand, our people and our balance sheet,” CEO Mark Tritton said in a release.

The company will still continue to operate remaining Bed Bath & Beyond retail locations nationwide, plus their other stores including Cost Plus World Market, buybuy Baby, Christmas Tree Shops andThat!, and Harmon Face Values.

Noooooooooo 😢😢😢 I live bed bath and beyond! Love their coupon policy and how you can use them even when they have expired. This makes me so sad. Hoping the store we have here in town will not be one of them

I see one in Ct closed so far

Our store doesn’t allow for expired coupons. Honestly I’m amazed they’ve lasted this long. Their prices are so over inflated. One coupon per item. It’s ridiculous.

    • Lori

I agree. Even with the coupon their prices are still high.

    • Tanisha Lewis

I agree, prices are insanely overpriced

    • Ms

I actually find some of their prices after coupons are the cheaper than Target, Walmart, or Amazon.

    • Erin

They are overpriced, but you can work some amazing deals if you know your prices and keep your eyes open. I got the $80.xx Cuisinart cold brew coffee maker for less than $20 and several large Yankee candles for as low as $6 earlier this year. Their holiday markdown was good, too. That said, they aren’t my go-to when I need a good price on something now.

If I don’t have coupon, I don’t buy from there, their prices are too high to buy anything without a coupon.

I love Bed Bath and Beyond. I just order a Le Creuset baking set for $299. They are the only store with this set. Plus they had the blue color I wanted. I’m not a spender, but when I want an item of high quality I look to BB&B.

Not everything is overpriced. Just compared a laundry basket for my daughter to take to college at Target and BB&B. Identical price, but BB&B’s coupon makes it 20% less. I also like them for hard-to-find kitchen gadgets.

    • Margie

I totally agree with you LauraG. When price comparing I have also found some items to be less expensive at BB&B with the coupon. It just depends on the item. My local store also accepts expired coupons and has let me split my purchases into two separate transactions so that I can use more than one coupon. That’s a rarity in my location because other stores around here snub coupons for any little reason. If my local BB&B store closes I will definitely miss it!!

I’m honestly surprised they have lasted this long where I live. I’ve never seen that store full.

    • riss

I was gonna say the same thing. I would go to our local store maybe a few times a year, and it’s always almost empty.

  8. Cassie

When will we know what locations are closing?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Cassie! We’ll keep an eye out for a list! In the meantime, you could always call in to your location to see if they may be able to confirm if they will be closing.

Oh nooooooo. Keeping my fingers crossed that our local one is not closing… they’re the only store we can get our co2 refills for our soda stream cheaper than anywhere else. 🥺

You may want to check out “The Christmas Tree Store” often they will sell Bed, Bath, Beyond products at lower prices. I have not seen any this year, but coupons 20% off all items! Sometimes $10 off $50 purchases. Christmas Tree is owned by Bed, Bath Beyond.

Prices are high. Home goods, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx have everything I would ever need. Just bought a queen size sheet set 1200 thread count for $30. I feel like I am on a Disney cruise bed.
