i love how people think the government BANNED him. HIS family asked for these books to be out of print, it has nothing to do with the administration.
Do you really think any company pulls a product because they want to? They do it because of pressure from certain groups. Quaker didn’t pull Aunt Jemima because they wanted to…they were forced. Same for Dr Suess. The books have been around since the 60’s….his family didn’t wake up one day and decide to do it on their own. They bowed to pressure. To think otherwise is naive.
His family is protecting his brand. They did not want his books associated with racist images. Is not wanting to be associated with racist imagery bowing to pressure?
They gave into the pressure. His daughter came out said they recognized it was a sensitive issue right now but still “hopes the six pulled books will eventually go back into print ‘because his body of work is unique.’”
Companies are in business to make money. Products that damage a brand hurt profits. Smart businesses remove those products. It’s economics, not politics.
And do you buy products that have the same beliefs you believe in? Do you boycott those that make decisions against what you believe in? Many of those things are things YOU were told were right or wrong, and chose to make up your own mind about it. His family decided these certain books went against what he would want. Everyone is acting like they removed his whole library. Let his family decide on his work, not YOUR politics.
You are absolutely right. Blaming books for societies problems take the blame away from the ones who are the problem. Governments and corporations. People are dumb.
No one thinks the government banned his books 😂 but thank god we’ve got corporations stepping in to do it for them, amirite?

His family made the decision to stop publication because they did not feel they embodied Ted Geisel’s (Dr. Seuss) values. Become informed if you’re going to comment. Perhaps read a book in honor of Dr. Seuss.

You’d have to go back in time and ask him why he did that?? All you have to do is a simple Google search and you’ll see all the appalling things he drew. Some people like racism I guess and don’t want the books out of print and have been blowing big money on eBay to but then. What a waste.
