Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is Back!
Macy’s and the City of New York have announced the return of the department store’s iconic Thanksgiving Day Parade for 2021, and it will look much different from last year’s toned-down event.
In 2020, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day celebration was a subdued, made-for-TV production that was filmed over the course of two days without any of the crowds that would normally line the 2.5-mile parade route.
This year, the 95th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will kick off the holiday season in its traditional format, with giant helium balloons, floats, marching bands, performances, celebrities, clowns, Santa Claus, and spectators!
“For our 95th celebration, we are delighted to return this cherished holiday tradition closer to its original form as we march down the streets of New York City and into the homes of a nationwide audience.” – Will Coss, Executive Producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Even though this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will look more like a pre-COVID parade than last year, there will be many safety measures in place to ensure the health and well-being of all participants.
Parade volunteers and staff members will be vaccinated, with COVID-19 testing required for anyone unable to receive a vaccine due to extenuating circumstances. Face masks will also be required regardless of vaccination status, with exceptions made for select performers. Social distancing will be in place, too.
For spectators, details on this year’s public viewing locations including maps, entry guidelines, and restrictions can be found here. If you’re planning to see the parade in person this year, you’re encouraged check this page frequently for the most up-to-date information.
The 95th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air nationwide on NBC on Thursday, November 25, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to noon in all time zones.
Yay!!!😁
Happy!
My husband and I are Macy’s Parade celebrity escorts! We were part of the lucky few who were asked to work last year- It was not the same, but everyone worked really hard to make it great. We checked in Santa and the Rockettes!
Let’s have a Parade. Best Thursday of the year!
That sounds like such a fun experience!
