More Happy Friday

A walgreens shopping haul submitted by a happy friday reader

This reader used Walgreens deals to save over 70% on a recent shopping trip.

It pays to use our deals! This week’s Happy Friday reader, Amy, took a trip to Walgreens and scooped up about $65 worth of items for just around $18!

Each week we highlight the best deals in the Walgreens weekly ad and Amy used this information along with some store rewards and coupons to reduce her shopping bill. She ended up scoring popular products, like Soap and Glory Whipped Night Cream, for a fraction of the regular price!

Here’s how Amy did it!

“I gave up on deal shopping at Walgreens years ago because more times than not the deals I saw on H2S never worked out the same for me in-store and it became more frustrating than it was worth. This was back when they had coupon booklets and before pickup orders were a thing.

But over the past few months, I’ve started deal shopping there again after seeing your posts about great deals and getting then with pickup orders.”

“This week I scored $65 worth of items for $18 (about a 74% savings). Here’s how:

  • Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste $4 (reg $5.79) – Use the $2 off coupon (exp. 2/17)
  • Buy 2 Lindor Truffles Bags $3.35 each (reg $4.79) – Use the $1 off 2 Lindor coupon (exp. 2/13)
  • Buy 1 get 1 50% off Buy 2 Valentine’s M&M’s $4.19 each (reg $5.99) – Use the 50¢ off M&M’s coupon (exp. 2/14) – will deduct $1
  • Blink For Soft and RGP Contact Lenses $7.39  – Use the $4 off coupon
  • Soap & Glory Cloud of Dreams Whipped Night Cream, clearance $3.79 (reg $15)
    • I wanted to get to $30 so I could get an additional 15% off with code HEART15, so I searched online for the clearance at my store available for pickup, which is how I found the Soap and Glory night creams.
  • Buy 1 get 1 50% off – Only one item was out of stock, a clearance toothpaste, which I didn’t include above.
  • I also had $1 in rewards, which brought my total to $16.83, before tax.”

Soap and Glory price comparison between ulta and walgreens

“Since I usually shop at Walmart, I even did a comparison to see what I would have spent on these items at Walmart. Walmart doesn’t carry the night creams, but Ulta does. I would have spent $59 on these items at Walmart and Ulta, so I saved 70% getting these items at Walgreens!”

“Thank you for getting me back to Walgreens for the deals. I like the ease of seeing all the deals in my cart before checking out online. It is so much easier than years ago when shopping in store.”

I’ve had the same experience with shopping at walgreens. I find the best way to shop is to do online pick up. why? because you can see the coupons applied and the wags cash you’ll receive. also, instore prices are differnt than online. sometimes almost double like my wags epsom salt. in store if the register doesnt apply coupons the cashiers and managers won’t do anything. even if you can show them the coupon applies to an online order.

I enjoy doing the store pick-up too, llc. Thanks for mentioning all the helpful perks of shopping that way, definitely helpful to see all the offers apply. ❤️

Lately store pickup is horrible for me, glad someone is getting deals. I end up canceling my order most of the time because half of the items are not available. I’m taking a break from Walgreens pickup.

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry to hear about your store pickup, Pat! It is frustrating when items are unavailable and orders are cancelled. Hoping you have a much better experience if you decide to give it a try again. 🤗💞
