Coca-Cola is Discontinuing 200 Drink Brands Including Odwalla & ZICO Coconut Water
Sad news for fans of Coca-Cola beverages!
Coca-Cola has been gradually announcing the discontinuation of select national brands over the past few months, including TaB diet cola, Odwalla juices, ZICO coconut water, Coca-Cola Life, Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, and regional brands like Northern Neck Ginger Ale and Delaware Punch.
This week, the company shared that it will be reducing its number of brands by about half, which means discontinuing about 200 of its brands altogether. After cutting these underperforming brands, Coca Cola will be left with approximately 200 of its most profitable “master brands” like Minute Maid and Simply. It will also be focusing more on newer products like Topo Chico hard seltzer, Coca Cola Energy, and AHA flavored sparkling water.
“Throughout this year’s crisis, our system has remained focused on its beverages for life strategy. We are accelerating our transformation that was already underway, shaping our company to recover faster than the broader economic recovery.” – James Quincey, chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company
The company has finalized its list of brands to be discontinued, but the complete list hasn’t been shared with the public yet. Quincy did say in an interview with CNN that Coca Cola’s “hydration” category would be seeing additional cuts. This news has insiders predicting that brands like Dasani, Powerade, and Vitamin Water could also be on the chopping block.
Keep up with all the latest news from the food and beverage industry!
I did like the Odwalla juice. Maybe they do not sell much because it is never available to buy.
Instead of 101 drinks none want, why not stick to coke and sprite.
I refuse to pay over .99 for any beverage.
I agree Odwalla was my go to mango drink. It tastes better than the other brands.
I love Vitamin water XXX too. I hope they keep vitamin water. Cafeine Free Diet Coke has been hard to find this year. I hope they keep production of that.
I couldn’t find regular caffeine free Coke either. I then found out Coca-Cola stopped making a lot of less popular varieties in cans due to the “aluminum shortage”. Sure enough, when I looked at the stores for the plastic bottles, they had them. I’ve seen the CF Diet Coke around me a lot. Just a tip in case you haven’t tried looking for the bigger bottles!
We’ve had a lot of issues finding various Coke products here in Michigan lately too
I’ve been looking for the CF regular Coke also. Where are you finding plastic bottles? I have never seen these. I’m in MN. Thanks, Denise
I miss my caffeine free coke in the cans but like you said I was able to find it in the 2 liters too which is better than none
They are definitely mostly making cans of the most popular products because of the aluminum shortage…my husband works for Coke. 🙂
That xxx is my favorite too!
odawalla was is most likely being discontinued for now many times it’s been called out for off branding (aka being healthy but having a ton of sugar.)
Good
Oh no not Powerade. My special needs daughter and nephew love it
If it happens, you could have them taste BodyArmor. Their drinks are good. I also recommend the Gatorade Frosts in the light green and blue colors.
My son loves the grape bodyarmour but cant find them anywhere anymore. I think they got the cut
I can’t imagine them discontinuing Powerade!!
Aw man Zico coconut water is my favorite!
Me too! I just recently started drinking it since I had cash back and I really like it! I love that it has zero sugar!
I didn’t know they offered Topo Chico.. I love it but it’s hard to find in the south East.
I will surely miss Zico, but at least I still have Vita Coco those are the ones I like best
I haven’t been able to find caffeine free Coke Zero in forever, this may be the reason. But I love my Dasani and vitamin water so I’m not gonna be happy if they cut them.
I will be so sad if they discontinue Powerade! I buy the sugar-free blue bottles all the time!
I knew this was coming – I’ve had a hard time finding Coke Life and figured it would be on the list. I’m so sad, as I really like the Stevia and the only other soda I’ve seen with it is expensive.
Zevia is really good. It goes on sale periodically at Publix and Whole Foods.
When is Fresca coming back?!?
What do you mean by coming back? It’s always available in my area.
Caffeine free coke is like drinking sugar water. If you can drink that, you can drink just water.
For energy drinks and heat replacement try Emergen C. I can actually feel replenished. It comes in packs.
We very rarely buy soda so I haven’t noticed a shortage.
I hope you keep diet , caffeine free coke. I love this.
I was told and I don’t know if true or not. It was by a coke delivery driver (multiple drivers) that it has nothing to do with an aluminum shortage. Production plants were shut down during Covid causes only the main products to be produced and so if you found for example caffeine free diet it was because the store already had it in store. I was also told because my choice is caffeine free Diet Coke and then Coke Zero that I was having a difficult time finding by a delivery driver again that as production has started back up slowly that Walmart has the exclusive rights to Coke products so they get stocked first. Again I do not know of true. He just said that and told us the day they get stock delivered and I went those days to get my stash! Again, just what my husband was told when he asked the delivery guy at the coffee shop one day because he knew I was cranky about not having my Coke Zero. We are in IN
Coke, & any brown coloring, caffeinated/ non caffeinated beverage is straight bad for your health. The carmel coloring &/or the sugar in sugared drinks (16 Tsp.) are both killers- give it up y’all. Give it up.
As for me, I will not give up my Coca Cola. Regular or caffeine free, I will occasionally have one. Many things are bad for you & we all know this.
Tab sux, and I won’t miss it…
