This shelving and workbench hardware kit comes with the connectors and connector fasteners to build your own workbench or shelving unit! It features a Simpson Strong-Tie Rigid Tie corner connector to make durable corner connections with your own 2×4 lumber. Note that you’ll need two kits to build a four-unit shelf.

This kit contains all the brackets and screws needed to build a workbench. Clear instructions make for fast work and good results. I made mine longer and wider than the plan’s 4ft x 3ft. Also added a crosspiece connecting the long sides at the center of the span, for added support for the top, and on the bottom for support of an eventual full shelf for tool storage. I used treated 2×4 stock to frame a 3ft x 6ft base and topped it with a 3/4″ hardwood plywood sheet, cut down to 36″ wide, and left full 8′ length, with a 2ft overhang on one end. Not sure if I will cut most of the overhang off, or add support for it under the edges and brace to that end of the frame. It is VERY sturdy! Yet still light enough I can move it around a bit. I am glad I got the kit, as it greatly simplified getting the work area I need for current and upcoming projects.
