Adorable & Easy DIY Starbucks Frappuccino Valentine’s Box (Upcycle an Oatmeal Canister!)
Learn how to make a DIY Starbucks-inspired Valentine Box out of an old oatmeal container. It’s such cute and easy kid’s Valentine’s Day craft!

This DIY project gets all the heart eyes! 😍 Easily transform an empty oatmeal container into an ADORABLE frappuccino-looking Starbucks-inspired Valentine’s Day box or container. Use it for Valentine’s Day or even keep it year-round as a unique storage container!
My daughter and I made this DIY Starbucks Valentine box a couple of years ago together for her to hold her classroom Valentines. I personally love that we were able to recycle trash, and didn’t even spend anything on it as this was done using supplies on hand at home!

It’s the perfect box to…
- Hold treats & cards
- Fill with/ school supplies & goodies for a teacher gift!
- Stash treats to display all Valentine’s season

DIY Starbucks Valentine Box Using An Oatmeal Container
PrintSupplies Needed
- empty oatmeal container with removable lid
- pink spray paint
- white construction caulking
- disposable pastry bag with tip
- straw
- sprinkles
- print out of Starbucks logo
- black sharpie marker
- heart stickers to decorate (optional)
Directions
1
Apply spray paint to the outside of the empty oatmeal container including the lid. Let it dry completely.
2
Squeeze construction caulking into the pastry bag with a tip and pipe it onto the top of the lid to look like frosting in a swirl shape. Cut the straw in half, and carefully stick it in the caulking. Add sprinkles to the top and let that dry completely.
3
Print out a Starbucks logo on paper, cut it out using scissors, and tape or glue it to the oatmeal container around the middle.
4
Lastly, use a black sharpie marker to make coffee cup markings on the side of the container similar to a real cup from Starbucks. I looked at a cup and made boxes that were similar for inspiration.

Tips on how to make the best DIY Starbucks Valentine Box:
- If you don’t have an empty oatmeal container, look around the house for another similar tall tube-shaped bucket or container instead. A wider cardboard shipping tube might work as well.
- The “frosting” material for this project is actually all-purpose caulk I had on hand in the garage! It looks pretty realistic, doesn’t it? I have also seen similar projects using a bit of insulating foam. If making this with a young child, you’ll want to make sure they don’t try to taste the “frosting”! 😳
- I loved using one of these handy all-in-one disposable pastry piping bags with a tip for this box because you can toss it afterward. I’m sure you could possibly use a reusable metal tip instead if you clean it right away before it dries.

My Starbucks fan was super thrilled with her DIY Valentine’s Day box!
I love that this was simple and easy! I know this because we waited until the last second to make it. LOL 😆 We made this for my daughter’s last year in elementary school, so it was her last Valentine’s Day at that school to make these adorable Starbucks Valentine boxes. I’m glad we were able to make it a special one. ❤️

I LOVE this idea. My daughter and I are trying to make it tonight. Any suggestions on how to keep the spray paint from running down the sides and exposing the oatmeal label?
Light coats – better to do light coats a couple times. Let dry in between. Have fun!!
Do you have a link for the Starbucks cutout?
I just printed a logo on white paper and glued it. i googled a logo and printed one. Hope that helps.
I bought a plastic jar at Walmart that has the metal clip closure. All the metal was easy to remove so the jar could be painted (I used red) and then I put the metal pieces back on. I made the Starbuck logo with vinyl. Gave it to my daughter in college so she now has a cute place to stash small items on her desk.
How long did the caulking take to dry?
This is what I am wondering. My caulking still isn’t dry and did it 2 days ago
GREAT question. I just checked with Lina and she let it harden overnight. It’s kind of like soft clay at first. Hoping that’s helpful! ❤️🙌
Did you cut a hole in it for valentine’s to get put inside or did you just have her take the lid off?
Hi Erica! Lina’s daughter just took the lid off for the Valentine’s. 🥰
