More Gifts For Mom

Bearaby is the weighted blanket decor lovers dream of. 😍

I recently became hooked on my Bearaby weighted blanket after graciously receiving one as a gift, and if you’re swooning over the weighted blanket and chunky knit throw trend, you’re not going to want to miss this super special product!

Let me just preface this post by saying it isn’t about a budget-friendly journey. Instead, I’m here to tell you why you should consider this decor piece as your next luxury splurge, or even a generous gift (cough cough – because Mother’s Day is coming). 😉

I had been eyeing weighted blankets since they rose in popularity a few years ago, but after finally slipping myself under one recently, I knew it was finally time to pull the trigger! I’ll be honest, I never even heard of Bearaby until a few months ago. Luckily for me, I was gifted one of these gorgeous blankets by a very generous soul – I’m very lucky, I know. 😍

So, what makes Bearaby different from other weighted blankets?

With just one look, it’s pretty clear why I consider this a luxe weighted blanket – it’s a stunning decor piece all on its own! The chunky knit style is that of gorgeous, thicker yarn knitted throws, which can cost upwards of a few hundred bucks. 😱

Except, this lovely blanket comes with the added weighted comfort that so many people love to cozy up with! 👏 Better yet, the knitted design is actually functional too and provides weight without all the excess heat (which is great for hot sleepers like me)!

It also can be used in the summer when you want stress-relieving comfort without being fully covered and is said to be an all-season winner in everyone’s book! Additionally, the loose knitting allows it to stretch out in different directions to adapt to all shapes for optimum coziness. 🙌

Here are even more benefits & lovely features of the Bearaby Weighted Blanket:

  • Made of organic cotton
  • Hand-knit with love
  • Soft, breathable fabric
  • Vegan/plant-based
  • Evenly weighted for deep, natural sleep
  • Perfect for all seasons
  • No fillers
  • Machine washable

I also appreciate the quiz on their site (click “which weight is right for me?” on THIS LINK) to determine the appropriate weight to buy. As you already know, this was a gift, so I didn’t personally fill this out but would have loved the option if I was still in the market.

In either case, it’s only a few questions that stand between you and the ideal blanket weight for either yourself or a lucky Bearaby giftee.

I’m really trying to find a caveat with this blanket (aside from it obviously being a spendier buy) but can’t think of any!

I really LOVE this blanket so much right down to the beautiful Asteroid Grey color I was gifted!

With their selection and neutral & bold colors available, I’m confident there’s a hue to match any color scheme in your home too.

So onto the price… 😬

Yes, this blanket starts at $249. EEEK! 😅

While I know it’s no laughing matter, I work for a frugal lifestyle site so believe me, I get it and totally understand this product cost sounds very far-fetched for some. I’ve seen plenty of deals on weighted blankets (we share many of them here) so I realize there are many more budget-friendly options out there too.

However…

Considering I find this blanket’s design absolutely perfect, both for functionality and aesthetics, it earns major points to justify the cost. There also aren’t any dupes on the market that even compare. And hey, there are plenty of other splurges we all justify to ourselves so if you’re looking for a “treat yo-self” opportunity, why not consider one like Bearaby that you could use daily?

Plus, if I use it every day for a year, that’s JUST 69¢ per use! 😂

Yup, that’s how my brain works. 😆 And, yes ladies, you can tell your husbands you heard that from me! 🤣 LOL!

Finally, since I know the question will come up in the comments, this post is not sponsored. This is my true experience with Bearaby after being gifted one (and nope, it was not a gift from the company either) and I’m happy to spread the love I have for this luxe home decor item!

Still unsure?

Their return policy is amazing, so if you’re truly in the market for this one-of-a-kind product (i.e. a weighted blanket AND a gorgeous chunky knit throw blanket), there’s no reason not to try it because of their incredible 30 Day Peace of Mind Guarantee.

Basically, if you’re not over the moon with your purchase, they’ll take it back. No questions asked! Pretty sweet, huh?! 😏

You can make one in a couple hours with no knitting experience whatsoever. It was fun and I do love mine but I found that I tend to grab every other throw before this one. It’s just slightly awkward and I worry the chunky knit’s going to get caught on a drawer pull or table edge. I love the weight, but I have a few faux fur throws that are heavy and cozy so mostly I just enjoy my chunky knit as a piece of art. And while my chunky throw is warm, psychologically, it just doesn’t *seem* as warm, so once again, I tend to grab other throws. To be fair, though, I have several awesome throws. If I didn’t, I’d likely use my chunky knit more.

Great points Erin! I know there’s a lot of tutorials on how to make this chunky blanket, not weighted but just a chunky knit and I’ve always wanted to make one, they’re very cool aesthetically!

What kind of yarn did you use?

      • Erin

Michaels carried thick yarn several years back when these throws were really popular. I’m not sure if they do anymore since the skeins are absolutely enormous and take up a ton of room in the store but I know Amazon had the cotton type of yarn (almost like yarn made of tee shirt material) used in the blanket in this post. If you google the tutorials, they usually include links to the yarn. Be aware that it isn’t cheap. I paid somewhere around $60 for four skeins (which made a bigger than average throw) but I worked a killer deal. I paid less for my favorite go-to throws! 🤣 Oh, and something else to think about: these aren’t the easiest to launder due to their size and weight! Be sure to look at care instructions before pulling the trigger on a throw or yarn!

I made one a couple of years ago and I bought a Bearaby last year and there’s no comparison. I can barely pick up the Bearaby, it’s way heavier than the kind you can make. I do like the Bearaby because it doesn’t make me hot like my Amazon weighted blanket does.

My mind works the same way.

I’m glad I’m not the only one! 😂

So pretty! I’ve been eyeing these for awhile now. But with a pug puppy that I lovingly call crackhead Sally (real name Ellie) – I will have to pass until she’s old

I love that this is Organic Cotton!! I’m going to be asking for this for Mother’s Day!! Thanks💕

      You’re very welcome, Sara!

The blue one is gorgeous! #goals! 🙂

I am probably in the minority but I hate the weighted blanket I bought a year ago. The only thing I use it for is to keep the comforter in place after I make the bed. It is too restrictive for me.

    • Lori

I agree with you! Hate my weighted blanket.

  7. Jen

I knew I shouldn’t have read this post…. I love my weighted blanket but it’s just so hot in summer and this one sounds like it solves my problem. A mother’s day gift to me? Yep, let’s go with that. 🙂

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Happy Mother’s Day to you, Jen!

I love the idea of this but I’m trying to save for tuition for a masters degree. Ugh. Wants and Needs. It’s so hard to adult sometimes

    I want a cream option!

I think they are worth it!! I’m going to invest in one!

    Erin,
I watch you, Colin and Stetson on a daily basis I’ve been doing my research on weighted blankets I have muscle spasms as a result of cerebral palsy since birth. I could really benefit from this weighted blanket. Being on a fixed income weighted blankets are so expensive.
