Polyblend Grout Renew is my favorite way to spruce up grout lines!

Got ugly, old grout? I’ve found the best grout sealer and colorant!

If you currently have some dingy-looking grout that could use a makeover, you’re in luck. While we’ve recently finished up an entire bathroom renovation, there’s a little secret that is still worth sharing that has worked for me and my home in the past.

The miracle worker is Polyblend Grout Renew, and it’s incredibly affordable for the amazing before and after results it produces!

bathroom tile floor with dirty grout

You see, even after getting the grout professionally steam cleaned in our home, it still never looked clean, and that has always bothered me.

Before replacing our flooring downstairs as part of a renovation project, I discovered that it’s actually the dirty-colored grout that bothered me the most, especially in high-traffic areas.

The best way I found to refresh the grout was with Polyblend Grout Renew!

As a side note, this brand isn’t paying me to rave about it. With Spring home refreshes on everyone’s mind, I wanted to share this secret that totally transformed my old floors!

What is Polyblend Grout Renew?

It’s an all-in-one grout colorant and sealant that lets you easily update or change the color of cement grout joints. This Grout Renew paste is formulated with both stain-resistant and fade-resistant pigments. I love that it’s also mold and mildew-resistant.

They even have a huge selection of colors available to get the look and style you’re trying to achieve. I personally like the look of contrasting grout and tile, so I decided on a shade of white for my previous darker tile. They have a vast selection of colors to choose from, in case you want the grout to blend with the color of the tile, or if you’d rather the grout colorant to stand out.

The grout renew application is easy too…

To apply, follow these easy steps from the bottle:

  1. Clean the grout very well using a scrub brush, and let dry.
  2. Apply Polyblend Grout Renew with a toothbrush or small paintbrush.
  3. Wipe any excess that gets on the tile with a damp rag or paper towel before it dries.
  4. Last, let the grout dry completely.

This Grout Renew is so simple to use, even my 12-year-old (at the time) was able to help out. He was anxious to help so he could earn a little extra allowance money but was just as excited with the final results. 🙌

Check out our Polyblend Grout Renew before and after! 😍

before and after comparison of a small bathroom tile and grout

Wow, what a difference! My flooring looks brand new! I love how crisp and clean the grout lines look now. It makes such a big improvement!

But you’re probably wondering if the color really does last? 🤔

It’s been about four months since I tested the grout renew on the bathroom floor. I even waited to do the rest of the tile in the house before we gave it a good run for its money.

I’m thrilled to report back the color looks exactly the same today as it did the day I put it on! Plus, I only used about a quarter of the bottle to do the bathroom. One bottle goes a very long way!

Fast forward a year…

Since I finished up the rest of the house, it’s been well over a year since we used this product on most of our downstairs. As I mentioned, we’ve recently undergone a major home renovation but it looked great up until demo day! In heavy traffic areas, there was a bit of wear but overall, I’m very pleased with how well Polyblend Grout Renew is held up!

If you’re in need of a grout makeover like I did, I’d definitely recommend this!

The completion can be a little tedious depending on the size of the space. However, if you have a DIY spirit and want to save money by completing the task yourself, the results are highly satisfying!

It’s also worth noting you can use Polyblend Grout Renew anywhere you happen to have tiles in the home. This includes counters, floors, and bathrooms.

So awesome! 👏

I have what looks like soap scum on my tile in our shower. I’ve tried lots of things and nothing gets it off. Any suggestions?

    • Jan Dutmers

Vinegar & water. Use a 1:1 ratio. Works great. Spray it on and scrub it off. It may not all come off the first time, but it eats away at the soap scum. It works like a charm. Keep at it, every week, and you’ll see big improvements.

  2. Bunny

Our shower has a few black moldy areas on the grout. Do you know if this would work on that Lina?

    • Nicolefl

I use cling gel bleach toilet bowl cleaner . It’s amazing for shower grout .

      • shanna

I second that! Toilet gel cleaners work wonders on hard to clean shower areas

        • jennifer

Great tip! Never thought to try that

          • Bunny

Thank you Shanna and Nicole. I tried your advice and it totally works. What a wonderful and inexpensive fix. Appreciate you both mentioning it! 🙂

      • Thriftypuppy

Just don’t use it on any stone products or they can discolor – especially travertine. You need to use products designed for stone if you have any of those in your bathroom.

Would the grout be hard to stay dry with cats, dogs and a baby going around? Haha

    • Lisa

      Maybe do at night!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Well if it’s a bathroom easy to shut door. But we used baby gates and did one room at a time.

    • Melissa

We have two dogs and a cat, and of course the day I started doing using this they decided they wanted to play together, which they normally don’t do; most days they ignore each other. I did my best to shoo them away from the immediate area I was working on but I found that it dried extremely quickly and the areas they ran over through that I had completed minutes earlier (5-10 mins), were pretty dry and no damage was done. I also inspected their fur and didn’t see any grout renew on them. I’m very impressed with this product!

I also would love recommendations on how to cosmetically repair cracked tiles (without replacing the tile since we don’t have replacements). The reviews are mixed on what I’ve found on Amazon and home repair sites, so if anyone has personal experience that’d be great!

      • Judy

Buy the grout that comes in a caulking tube. They have several colors in the tile department at Home Depot. If you can match the color of your tile, the grout will make the cracks less noticeable.

About How long does it take to dry? Thinking about high traffic areas.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

It actually does dry fast. There’s a whole video you can watch on the Home Depot link Says 30 minutes – 2 hours. Hope that helps.

      • Lisa

Lina. Do you have any tips on killing a lawn full of chick weed ( without killing too much grass)? Thanks for any help

        • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh darn. We have artificial turf here in AZ lol – Maybe others can chime in!

          • Lisa

            Lol thank you

        • kathy

There’s a spray bottle that you put on the hose. Spray it on and in about a week is all wilts. It doesn’t kill the grass underneath but you may see it a bit more sparce from when the chickweed was there.

Hello, So I had this same problem! I did some research and bought a new bissell steam mop & absolutely love it!! I had to go over heavy traffic areas a few times but the grout looks so much better & no chemicals!! Plus you can use the steam cleaner on tiles on the shower wall & glass shower doors. The tile looks great on this article but looks very time consuming which I don’t have.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh cool! Thanks for sharing!

    • Vivian

Yes, totally agree with you! The steam mop is a real game changer. It sanitizes and gets the grout clean. You’re solving the problem at the root cause instead of covering the dirt up. You may have to scrub pretty hard the first time around if your sandy grout has turned black as midnight, but afterwards it’s easy to clean!

    • Vicki

Which Bissell steam mop did you buy?

    • MommySpendsLess

I’ve had a steam mop for a couple years and love it but a few caveats. Mine uses a flat pad (like a Swiffer) and the edges of my tile are uneven so it has a tumbled stone effect. For me the steam mop doesn’t clean the edges or grout of my tile.
You may also want to check on how long the steam has to be on the surface to disinfect it. I run mine over my tile in a similar manner to vacuuming so I doubt it’s actually disinfecting.

    • jen s.

I love the new bissell steam mop. The pads are more scrubby, and it detaches so you can steam clean the grout with the brush. You just wipe up the dirt and your grout is CLEAN!

      • jen s.

The model number is bissell 1806 at Kohls, but out of inventory…..

  6. jill

funny you should post this since I hate how our grout looks , and it’s becoming the bane of my existence! and since I seem to find myself with some time on my hands, this is getting ordered NOW ! thank you!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

LOL Yes!!! Go Jill! Get your grout on! Whoop!

  7. Brandie Smith

I actually used this product to change the color of my grout because I was sick of it looking dirty! I have no idea why I chose white grout in the beginning but now it’s dark gray and always looking clean! 😃

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh that’s cool to hear! Thanks so much!

  8. Cindy

Dirty grout also annoys me. I just got a canister style steam cleaner. It is amazing at cleaning grout (and everything else).

  9. isha

Last year we got new kitchen floor. I misjudged the color of grout and came lighter then what wanted. I went to hw store and got this product in darker side. Whole floor started looking beautiful.
P.S. you can us q-tip as well if grout line is narrow. Also, you can engage kids. I had two little helper

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Awesome! Yes I love that little helpers can do this!

Thanks for sharing, and although I am not a home owner yet, every apartment I’ve had has had WHITE grout with tiles. Why an owner would put that up and not a tub surround is beyond me! I’ve been at this apartment 3 years and it takes me almost 3 hours to clean my bathroom and scrub the grout, because like someone else said, I hate when it looks dingy and will sit there and look at it and give over it till it looks completely white. A word for landlords, please, for the love of god, no.more.white.tile.and.grout. Sincerely, an OCD cleaner

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ha yes! We lived in a house with white tile kitchen counters and white grout that was brown where we prepped food. I wish I would have known about this trick! 🙂

    • Marie

Scrubbing Bubbles and a bathroom Magic Eraser works wonders! Our old house had white tile and grout and it was the only thing that seemed to work.

  11. Tammy

I absolutely LOVE this stuff!! We moved into our current house and the grout all over was dingy and dirty. So I got one bottle and did our foyer, kitchen, hallway, laundry room and 2 closets, and still had some left in the bottle. It dries very quickly, and totally transforms a room! It is much cheaper than having to tear up the flooring in all those rooms. It holds up very well, those are very high traffic areas for us. We’ve done it almost a year ago.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh cool! Thanks for adding your experience Tammy!

This totally has nothing to do with grout…Lina, I’m looking for your air fryer recipes but don’t see a tab under Hip2Save recipes that has them listed in one section.

Can you please help? TIA and love all your recipes 🙂

  14. Nora D.

This sounds great! However, I’m having problems with some of the grout in the bathroom cracking/breaking up…….what should be used to repair it? Would really appreciate some ideas! Thanks!

  15. Tracy C

    Linda,
Hi! What kind of flooring do you have and what’s the type of grout that you had?
It looks that have the same flooring! Or, at least, the color and type is very similar! (Armstrong Vinyl squares) We used a type of grout that isn’t supposed to need regrouting. But, color has darkened a bit. Would this product work to change it up?

  16. lisa22hockey

Not grout related but does anyone have a cleaner/sealer that they would recommend for granite kitchen countertops? Some areas on mine feel “rough”

I have not used this product, but highly recommend Mapei Grout refresh. I purchased from floor and decor and on Amazon. I used the white in my kids bathroom and brown on my wood-like tile. We had our floor replaced and the grout was too light and made the floor look too choppy. This did take some time but looks AMAZING!!!! I was able to use less than 1 bottle for 2 bathrooms and 2 bottles ($30) for over 2.5k sq ft.

Hi. I am looking for the tile you have on your floor. I need six replacement peices. Do you happen to know where to get it?

    • Lina

I am unsure as these floors were about 15 years old and were here already. Assuming home depot may have similar ceramic tiles?
