Our Hungry Team Tried 4 Frozen Pizzas. This One Was Our Favorite…
Calling all pizza lovers! 🍕
While fresh, home-made pizza tastes amazing, our team held a frozen pizza taste test. After all, there’s nothing easier than going to your freezer and pulling out a frozen pizza on those I-don’t-feel-like-cooking nights. But what’s even better is discovering a frozen pizza that tastes delicious, looks homemade, AND offers unbeatable value.
Our team tried the following four pizza brands during a past Hip2Save Team Retreat (back in early 2019) to see which pizza our team liked the best (flavor-meter 🍕), which pizza was the prettiest (impression-meter ❤️), and which pizza offered the best value (value-meter 💰). Read below to find out which one ranked the highest in all three categories!
- Freschetta Naturally Rising Crust Pepperoni Pizza
- DiGiorno Cheese Stuffed Crust Supreme Pizza
- Sabatasso’s Pizza Singles – Pepperoni & Cheese (Costco; in-store only)
- Red Baron Classic Crust Four Meat Pizza
1. Freschetta
Freschetta sets the bar high for fresh flavor with their preservative-free crust and all-natural cheeses. The naturally rising signature crust was crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside—perfect for dipping in some ranch or garlic sauce!
With no shortage of cheese or pepperoni, this pizza left quite an impression on all of us! We also tried Freschetta’s Supreme pizza and it was another crowd pleaser!
“Freschetta is for sure the BEST all around. I totally agree DiGiornio is good but I think too much sauce for the prices they charge.” -Lisa, Hip2Save reader
- Flavor-Meter: 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 (5 out of 5)
- Impression-Meter: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ (5 out of 5)
- Value-Meter: 💰💰💰💰 (4 out of 5) – Priced between $5-$6 at most stores

2. Sabatasso’s Pizza Singles (in-store at Costco)
“We really like the thin crust cheese pizza from Sabatasso, and I think the crust is gluten-free. We add our own toppings like black olives, Canadian bacon, etc.” -Donna, Hip2Save Reader
The Sabatasso’s Pizza Singles from Costco were surprisingly delicious, despite the way they looked compared to the other frozen pizzas. But, the delectable thin and crispy crust topped with perfectly seasoned sauce, real cheese, and savory pepperoni, made these singles the flavor winner for us! What I also love about these is that you can cook them in the microwave if you don’t have time to wait for the oven to preheat.
And, we’ve heard they have a gluten-free variety that tastes even better!
“I really liked the taste of the Sabatasso’s singles from Costco, even though the other ones looked like they would taste better. The other ones were fine, but nothing out of the ordinary.” -Andrea, Hip2Save sidekick

- Value-Meter: 💰💰💰💰💰 (5 out of 5) – Priced at $9.99 at Costco – just 83¢ per pizza!

3. DiGiorno
It’s not delivery – it’s DiGiorno! Made with 100% real cheese, no artificial flavors, and a preservative-free crust, DiGiorno offers a pretty irresistible combination. The crust stuffed pizza with mouthwatering cheese and loaded with toppings delivers the perfect amount of delicious cheese in every crispy bite.
“The DiGiorno Cheese Stuff Crust pizza was OK, but I was not a big fan of the cheese-stuffed crust as it makes it too heavy and greasy. I prefer crusts that are just bread since there is already so much cheese on the pizza. Plus, I felt that we had to cook it for a long time in order for the pizza to be done and not doughy.” -Mary, Hip2Save sidekick

4. Red Baron
Red Baron Classic Crust pizza is definitely an affordable yet tasty option when it comes to frozen pizzas. Their classic crust is not too thick and not too thin, and it comes piled with pepperoni, smoked ham, sausage, and hamburger. There’s even a robust sauce and melt-in-your-mouth cheese!
“Red Baron’s Classic Crust pizza tasted pretty good for cheap, boxed pizza. However, the cheese didn’t completely melt in the center after baking it for the recommended amount of time, which was a bummer. Plus, it could have used a bit more pepperoni.” -Michelle, Hip2Save sidekick
