We already know that Amazon has got it going on!
In fact, they’ve launched their very own product lines for everything your heart can imagine. Recently, we discovered Solimo, Amazon’s totally affordable generic brand! From trash bags to razors and vitamins to K-cups, they have a ton of affordable solutions for you and your home.
My Hip sidekick, Emily, and I were pretty excited to test a few of the Solimo personal care items, and we’re here to tell you if these products are worth it or if they miss the mark.
Here’s the Solimo product Emily tried:
Price | $2.99
- $1.98 CHEAPER than its name-brand competitor, Clean and Clear Morning Burst – 8 oz.!
At first, I was a little concerned as I’ve read the environmental harm that micro-plastics can cause—specifically the beads that were used in the original formulation of the name-brand version of this face wash. However, I was happy to read that the Solimo wash is Polyethylene-bead free and uses non-plastic cellulose beads instead!
The Amazon face cleanser is nearly identical to the Clean & Clear counterpart – which happened to be almost twice the cost! It has the same invigorating citrus smell and works into a sudsy lather. It really feels like it cleans deeply just like the name brand.
As a bonus, I even experienced a mild cooling & tingling sensation, which I love, that will be sure to wake anyone up first thing in the morning. ☀️
Overall, she gives the Solimo Morning Fresh Cleanser from Amazon two thumbs up 👍👍.
Here are the 3 products that I tried from Solimo:
Price | $3.99
- $24.15 CHEAPER than its name-brand competitor, Clinique Makeup Remover – 4.2 oz.! 😱
Sometimes I fall into a routine where I don’t always wash my makeup off before bed let alone, scrub all of the mascara off my eyelashes – so horrible, I know! 😔 Needless to say, I was really excited to try this affordable makeup remover because not only would it make my life easier, but I wouldn’t have to spend a ton of money either compared to more expensive brands like Clinique!
To give it the real test, I put my favorite new lip liner on my hand, along with some dark eye shadows and my daily liquid foundation that normally doesn’t come off easily at all – I’m talking, even after I use my favorite face wash in the shower, there’s normally residual foundation that still rubs off on my towel when I dry my face.
Well, I’m totally shocked to report that with one fell swoop with the cotton ball, all of the makeup in its path came off entirely! 😱 The only complaint I have is that the makeup remover did leave my skin feeling a little oily, so I’d recommend washing your face with your daily cleanser afterward, but other than that, this product is a total winner in my book! I foresee many makeup-less nights and healthier skin to come!
Overall I give this Solimo Makeup Remover from Amazon a thumbs up 👍.
Price | $16.99
- $13 CHEAPER than its name-brand competitor, Crest 3D 10-day Whitening Strips!
Teeth whitening for less than $20?! Count me in! 😍 After the holidays, I start to really get the urge to whiten my teeth, between all the red wine, sugar-filled holiday foods, and just winter blues in general, little teeth refresh can really turn your mood around. And considering I’ve spent hundreds of dollars in the past on whitening trays, I couldn’t wait to find out how these worked!
For the best results, it’s recommended to wear the strips for 30 minutes. During the 30 minutes, I found that the strips actually stayed exactly where I put them – so no sliding around, no weird taste that makes your mouth drool, and did I mention they stay put?! Basically, nothing like my previous experience with whitening strips. Upon taking them off, they also didn’t leave an icky residue. I swooshed some water around, spit it out, and I was ready for the day!
One negative I would say is that they don’t cover your entire mouth – only the teeth that you probably see when talking or smiling. So if you’re looking for an entire mouth whitening… these won’t be for you! That said, I was still pretty happy with the overall coverage.
I tested these strips for the full 10 days and liked them – they did give my teeth a good little boost. However, my smile was pretty white to begin with, so if you have deep staining, these strips will not be for you.
By the end of the 10 days, I did notice a decrease in the yellow staining near my gums and felt that overall my teeth looked more white when I saw photos of myself. For the price, I’d totally use these again when I’m due for another refresh!
Overall I give these Solimo Whitening Strips from Amazon a thumbs up 👍.
Price | $5.89 (14 oz.)
- $6.52 CHEAPER than its name-brand competitor, Aquaphor – 14 oz.!
Need some ointment for a scrape or cut? This Solimo skin protectant is an exact dupe of Aquaphor except it’s so much cheaper! Plus, there’s a ton of product in this 14 oz. container so it’s sure to last for quite a while. Assuming, your kids aren’t getting into too many accidents, that is. 😉
I’m also constantly washing my hands with the Coronavirus going on and I always struggle with cracked and dry hands during the colder months, so I appreciate an effective way to drench them in some moisturizer when I need to.
While I wouldn’t recommend this ointment for a daily hand moisturizer per se, it would be great to lather up your hands and throw some socks over them at night when you sleep. (I used to do this as a kid and it worked like a charm!)
Overall I give this Solimo Healing Ointment from Amazon a 👍.
Did you see this gorgeous eyeshadow palette I love that’s under 3 bucks?!?!
