As a busy mom, working from home, juggling three kids and the start of the school year, we’re often maxed out on time for cooking, so having easy & healthy meals in the freezer that I don’t even need to think about is a major bonus in my book!

On top of that, I’m also not a huge fan of grocery shopping, so any meal delivery that I have to put zero effort into is a win-win.

And everything we’ve tried is kid-approved, too! 😍

Although these may seem a little pricey to buy as individual meals for all your kids, I find the bowls and smoothies to be extremely filling.

So if you’re going to feed more than just yourself, rest assured, one smoothie/bowl/meal can totally be divided up if you’re feeding some tiny bellies too – which ultimately breaks down the cost of each meal even more! 👏

Hip Tip: Make sure to throw the smoothies in the freezer for about an hour for an extra special treat. 😉 You could even pour it into a bowl and top with fruit for your very own delicious açaí bowl.

I’ve been so happy with Splendid Spoon, and on nights that feel totally overwhelming, these have been an absolute game changer! They make for the perfect grab and go meal or snack.

Another great feature? You just need a fork or a spoon to eat the delicious food bowls. Plus, the food bowl containers are also microwave safe, resealable, and sturdy enough for traveling.

My husband a 100% plant based. Cooking for him can be challenging because he is picky. He will drink smoothies but usually doesn’t care for soups or bowls. I’ll run this by him and see what he thinks. If I bought him lunch daily, this plan would be cheaper. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully we will have more companies catering to vegans, in return, prices will hopefully go down.

You’re so welcome! Hope he loves them too!

I agree, my daughter has been vegan since she was a sophomore in high school. It can be challenging, but I have noticed there are so many more options now than 5 years ago. I’m thinking about getting this for her, even if for just one week to see. She’s a full time student and works, surely this would help out a lot!

      • Sara

I agree, this would be so wonderful for your daughter, BobbyAnn! I hope that she enjoys it as much as I did!

It’s so challenging to be a vegan. My daughter has been vegetarian since she was 6 years old and vegan since 15.

  3. Kelly

I love this service! My whole family (2 adults, 4 kids) have been vegan for 10 years now and there are so many more options out there today than a decade ago. I look forward to seeing this lifestyle being supported by other companies in the future!

    • Sara

So do I, Kelly! So glad you enjoy Splendid Spoon so much!

  4. Bunny

We became pescatarian January 1 of this year. We are thrilled to see so many vegetarian/vegan options, especially at stores like Aldi and Lidl.

Will definitely have to check out Splendid Spoon. Thanks Hip2Save 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re very welcome, Bunny!

I just signed up for the 15 item plan to try it out. I am looking forward to it. I do daily harvest so I am interested to see how it compares. I am not vegan but I use the bowls as a base and will add chicken or fish as protein. Thank you for sharing.

We are vegans and looooove purple carrot meal service. Everything we have had has been super delicious. If you are in a vegan rut I highly recommend it. We pay 75 for 3 two person meals. I am happy to send anyone who wants it a free box to check it out. You have to sign up for the service to redeem it but you can easily cancel of you don’t like it.

    • LC

I’d love to try a box! We are vegans too 🙂 mermlc1 @ yahoo

      Thanks!

    • Rachel

Hi rhonda! If you have anymore free boxes, I’d love to try it! We’ve been discussing trying purple carrot for a while now! Thanks!

I am a vegetarian and honestly sometimes feel like I’m the only one. People around me think it’s so weird. It’s nice to see stuff like this and know I’m not alone!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Awww, I’m so happy for you!

    • Family First

Lol, yes can relate. We have bbq tacos steak you name it…and then I’ll make my califlower rice and get the eye rolls. It’s definitely insensitive, but we can’t pick our families. I hope more become supportive of all lifestyles; vegan, gluten free, low carb, paleo etc. 😍

  8. carrollwoodmom

I have been using this service off and on for 6 months. smoothies and bowls are delicious and so nutritious, they would cost me a lot more to make on my own, for the long healthy ingredient list. it’s also a great time saver working full time. Add in a salad or light meal for dinner and I am all set. I get creative and add almond milk or other ingredients to stretch each smoothie into two. Recipe ideas on their site, how to stretch bowls into easy to prepare meals for two,

    • Katie

Thanks I was looking to hear from someone that hat has tried this service!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Thanks so much for sharing your tips and experience! Glad you have been enjoying this service!

  9. Natalie

I just can’t wrap my mind around spending $165 for less than 1 weeks worth of meals for only 1 person.

If you have the money for it, great. Myself, I’ll just have to schlep myself to the grocery, buy the ingredients, and make it myself.
