Summer is here, and it’s getting HOT! 🌞🔥

I’m sharing a product that’s been super helpful to have on hand during warmer months – the cooling towel. Have you seen these before? They can be such a lifesaver for keeping you and your family from overheating!

On a side note, I first posted this product recommendation back in June of 2019. I thought since so many of you appreciated this post, I’d bump it up with the summer of 2020 already here.

getting two pink cooling towels wet in the sink

There are actually several brands of cooling towels out there, and I’m sharing our experience with Perfect Fitness. We purchased two of the Perfect Fitness cooling towels via Amazon and love how great they work!

perfect cooling towels running under water

Perfect Fitness cooling towels stay cool for hours!

  • Simply get them wet and squeeze out excess water. They stay nice and cool instead of a normal towel that gets hot and dries up in the heat.
  • If they start to get too dry, just dunk them again.
  • They’re lightweight and feel soft and refreshing!
  • Fold loosely and let dry to store.
  • These towels are machine washable, too!

Cooling towels are great for:

  • Golf, hiking, or any outdoor sport
  • Disney or any outdoor amusement park during summer
  • Yoga workouts and for the gym
  • Anyone who works outside in the heat
  • Watching outdoor sports like summer baseball

We live in Phoenix, Arizona, where the weather can be extremely hot and uncomfortable in the summer. Our cooling towels have been such a lifesaver!

Cooling towels make fantastic gifts, too!

My parents golf year round, and I have given them towels as gifts. They use them a lot to keep cool while staying active.

I have one of these when we go outside to do yard work. It really works. I hate being outside. It get 120 in my area so it helps me from dying in the heat. Literally, no joke. It’s that hot where we live. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I’m glad these help you, J.H.509!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Wow! Yes, that’s hot and thanks for sharing your experience!

    Lina I’m a fellow Arizonan! 😁 Hello!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Hey there T!

  3. Kate

I get migraines and I use these to cover my eyes and cool off my forehead when I have a bad migraine. It doesn’t cure them, but it does provide some relief while I wait for medicine to work.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for the tip, Kate! That’s another great use!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Aw great tip. I get them sometimes too from the computer, and I’m gonna try that next time. Thanks Kate!

  4. Crystal

Thank you! My coworker had one during the heat wave we had last week. This is such a timely post.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks Crystal! Yes, super handy to have for a heat wave!

  5. justme

I’m going to have to get these! I live in the Phoenix area also and we always carry a water bottle full of ice. Another tip that took me 2 years to figure out is that when you run your car AC the moment it gets cool in the car switch it to recirculate. Works so much better!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh interesting! Great tip! 🙂

    • Monique

Yep learned that trick recently also I just moved to Vegas from Utah and it’s sooo much hotter here

  6. Shannon

We brought these to Disney world they were great!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Nice! Thanks for sharing!

    • Yessenia

We brought them to Disney too. We went last July and heat was crazy these little towels were a lifesaver.

      • dblD amber

Same. Just went last week to Disney and the kids loved them. I would slip it around my neck and down into my chest. What a relief

  7. Luna

Thank you! I see multiple ways to use these towels mainly for my headaches.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welcome Luna 🙂

  8. Jen

Our church just handed these out for Father’s Day – can’t wait to try it!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Wow- nice Jen! 🙂

  9. Winnie

We are going to a baseball game this Thursday. It will come in handy for my hubby who is always too hot

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Nice Winnie- have fun and stay cool!

  10. Amy

Would this work to keep my 2 month old cool in his car seat? We are on the go a lot with 2 older kids and he gets so sweaty and cranky when we have to use the infant seat on the stroller.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ya I think good for the car on the go. 👍

    • Kiwi

I wouldn’t think twice about using one with my kids. (Supervision is always there regardless of age.) I use one when I run. Just get a safety pin to hold it so it doesn’t fly away while running!

  11. Meh

Does brand matter? Or are all cooling towels pretty much the same?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi I’ve linked the ones we are currently using, and I have bought other brands as gifts…I’m thinking some may vary in size but may be pretty similar.

    • Gina G.

I buy the extra large ones because they are longer and goes around my neck & down my chest.

  12. Cindy Blandon

I also discovered on a recent vacation that they feel good on a sunburn!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

oh I love that use for these. Great tip Cindy!

  13. Jacki

They are perfect for being parent timer at summer swim meets. Especially at the 6pm meets when the sun is at it’s hottest. I have also used a frozen water bottle at base of my spine to keep me cool when it was 99 at one meet last summer.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh good idea – thanks for sharing Jacki!

  14. mel

We have several, from the brand Frogg Toggs. Even if we cut the grass & do yard work in the early morning (9am-ish), we’re sweating bricks everywhere! Once we got these, they’ve kept us cool and comfortable! Best invention ever!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Awesome! I agree- so great!

  15. Megan B.

We took this to Disney two weeks ago…LIFE SAVERS! It got up to 105 one day and the heat was unbearable. We just kept re-wetting them every time we saw a water fountain and it helped tremendously.

  16. Lesli

We bring these to Disney too. They really help and I’m already surprised that more people don’t use them. My hubs users them of the golf course too.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks Lesli! So smart of you to bring them!

  17. Gina G.

This is our third summer using these & we LOVE them! I put them in a freezer bag and stick them in the freezer overnight & take them out a few minutes before using them (once outside they thaw enough to bend very quickly).

  18. Gina G.

They are great for bringing down fevers! They are really universal, we have 9 of them!

    • Cassandra (Hip Sidekick)

      Great tip! Thanks, Gina G.!

  19. Scarlet B

I was just thinking the other day that I need to get one of these. Thanks for the review and reminder!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sure Scarlet! Thanks for stopping by!

  20. Lisa

I have a husky/golden dog that gets very overheated in the summer. I put one of these on her back and under her stomach when she’s laying down. It helps to cool her off!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh wow! That’s a great idea Lisa- thanks for sharing!

      • Mschwark

I was going to ask if anyone had used them on furbabies

  21. Julie

Could these be cut to a smaller size?

Someone mentioned using them with migraines, so forehead sized would be great.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ya I could see that being done, however I haven’t tried personally 👍

  22. *Angela-Miles*

I could of swore I saw something like these at the dollar tree a few months ago. No clue what brand or if they work or anything. But they said cooling towels on them lol. I’ll look again next time if I can remember 🙃

  23. HipUP

Too hot in summer! Great help.

  24. ElleS

We live in Texas. Today it was 106 (with heat index)! We’ve used Frogg Toggs in the past. They’re wonderful!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh thanks for sharing! Stay cool 😎 Elle S!

  25. Justine

Such a great invention! Another good brand of cooling towel is Frog Toggs. I work at a kids day camp all summer, and it is such a handy thing to have. All the kids want my cooling towel!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’s great Justine! Thanks for sharing!

  26. Kb

We love these. Use them for softball and Scouts BSA summer camp! I personally love the small size. My daughter likes the regular size. For really hot days, you can make a bucket of water to drop your towel in that contains a few drops of “Florida water” cologne for an even chillier experience. They stay cold even longer.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh thanks for sharing!

  27. E

I haven’t tried them but people use them in between baby and mom when wearing the baby in a carrier. I was always melting when I wore my kids when we lived in a tropical climate.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh that’s a great idea!
