dipping chip into Frank's buffalo chicken dip

Need an easy appetizer perfect for both football watching and entertaining?

This Frank’s buffalo chicken dip recipe is for sure a winner every time I serve it, and it’s usually gone in just a few minutes! You can make this in the Crockpot or in a casserole dish. It’s such a delicious way to get all the spicy flavors of buffalo wings using Frank’s wing sauce, but in a warm, cream cheese dip.

Easy no-fail appetizer recipes are my favorite, and this one is a breeze to whip up and have melted to enjoy for game time. Consider doubling it for larger parties, and be prepared to get asked for the recipe a lot!

making buffalo chicken dip

Hip Tips:

Prep ahead idea: Mix everything in a casserole dish ahead of time, and put in the oven 30 minutes before guests arrive.

Crockpot directions: Mix ingredients together in a slow cooker and melt on low for about 1-2 hours until warm and the dip starts to bubble around the edges. Keep on warm during your party and stir every so often.

You can use leftover grilled chicken breasts or shredded chicken. In this recipe, I used prepared packaged chicken, but you can always cook a couple chicken breasts, chop them up and use in this recipe.

Easily make buffalo dip a meatless version using a head of cauliflower instead of chicken! Simply cut the cauliflower into bite sized pieces and roast them on a baking sheet pan until tender. Then you can continue with recipe instead of chicken!

This appetizer is easy to serve low carb and keto! Buffalo dip has low carb ingredients, so you can serve it up with celery or other veggie dippers to please the keto crowd!

buffalo chicken dip in a casserole dish on the counter

Melted gooey cream cheese buffalo dip is SO GOOD!

I’ve been making it for so many years and it’s for sure a family favorite. The layers of cheeses, and sauces work so well together, and I love the texture and bold flavors. It’ll be an instant hit for sure!

If I have frozen chicken strips in the freezer can I just put it all in the crockpot together or do I need to defrost/cook the chicken first? I’m making this for SB tonight. HELP.

    • Havalah Moriah Faith Wood

If the chicken strips are already cooked you should be fine.

sawur site for the first time love it. can this be served at room temp. or must be served when done, thinking of taking this to a potluck party.

I didn’t even look past the Ranch Dressing – Not one person who is actually from Buffalo would ever consider using Ranch dressing for any Buffalo named anything just Gross!!! you can substitute the ranch and all its glory for the real stuff – BLUE CHEESE

    • NP

I’d rather eat ranch than blue cheese. I find blue cheese unpalatable even though I live in Buffalo (near Amherst, NY).

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’d be a great version too! Thanks for sharing Mindy!

Why do you guys keep posting old recipes? Comments from 2013? Something new would be great.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi there! We do post new recipes often, but sometimes feel like older ideas are still very relevant, like this one for football 🏈 food. Thanks!

I do appreciate you re-posting. Sometimes I forget that you have this recipe in your vault and it’s a great reminder. Also, this looks like a good keto snack. What would you suggest would be good to pair this with as far as keto?

        • Tina

I scanned the recipe too fast. I should have read the beginning. I have my answer now. Thanks again! 🙂

Real Western New Yorkers use blue cheese in there instead of ranch 🤣
