feta avocado salsa dipped with melba toast

Does your family love feta cheese and fresh avocado?

These are two of my favorite foods separately, and if you pair them together as a creative appetizer dip, you get an unbelievably awesome snack you’ll be excited to serve at your next shindig!

It’s like a Mediterranean salsa mash-up that’s super yummy. Plus, I love that it’s super easy and simple to throw together at the last minute, and it doesn’t require a ton of effort, yet tastes fancy!

Love these FRESH tasting ingredients!

Of course, I love the avocado and feta combo, but then when you add in the onion, garlic, fresh parsley, and lemon juice, the whole mixture is beaming with lots of bright flavors. I added half a chopped jalapeno pepper, but you could always add more, or leave it out if no spice is preferred. I used parsley, but other fresh herbs like cilantro or basil would be yummy as well. This is something you can really get creative with and make your own and adjust to taste.

Hip Tip: I recommend you choose avocados on the firmer side if possible instead of super soft ones that may make this salsa mushy. Just something to keep in mind 🙂

making avocado feta salsa and pouring into bowl

Just chop up all the ingredients, mix together and serve with your favorite chips, crackers or veggies! It’s that easy.

Serve this salsa in any smaller type bowl, but if you’re interested in mine, I’m using this pretty mortar and pestle for serving as pictured in these photos.

If you plan to make this salsa a little bit ahead of time, I would leave out the avocados until right before serving to avoid browning.

bowl of avocado tomato salsa served with crackers and melba toasts

Get your dip on!

I served mine with club crackers and melba toasts, and it was perfect basketball watching food over the weekend. You could also serve with some cheese whisps, celery, or another veggie dipper for any low carb eaters out there. This is such a great snack to share with friends! We enjoyed it and I know you will, too.

P.S. I would try to enjoy this within the first 24 hours of refrigeration, as avocado has a tendency to brown–but that’s assuming you couldn’t eat it all in one sitting like we did–ha!

Heard about a recall this morning on avocados. Listeria I believe.

Lina your presentation and pics are always so great! There’s a really bad cooking “influencer” out there named Jill Dillard- she’s part of the Duggar family, and she can’t cook and makes the most disgusting recipes with the worst presentation ever- literally cat gack. So I commend you for always making the food look so nice!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Aw thanks Laura – I try my best ❤️

  9. Cami

  10. Deb

This looks wonderful, Lina. In case anyone is wondering, avocados from Mexico are not part of the recall, so check where the avocados came from first.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks Deb- and thanks for sharing 👍

I made a very similar recipe for a friend’s going away party a few weeks ago and it was a huge hit! Everyone loved it! Hubby requested more, so I made another batch the following day! It’s so good!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh that’s so great! Thanks for sharing ❤️

  12. Kelly Bates

Yum can’t wait to make this and thank you for not using cilantro oon behalf of all of us that have the ‘it tastes like soap’ gene 🙂

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I’m so glad and -Ha enjoy Kelly! ❤️🎉

    • ella

Haha! I love cilantro, but dear Hubbie and half my kids have the “taste like soap” gene! I’ll probably use the parsley for them!

  13. Maria

Looks delicious, Lina, thanks! I’ll add that the feta you get in the brine from Whole Foods is much tastier than the crumbles pictured and lasts a lot longer in the fridge if you have one near you. You could also get it at specialty shops, but I understand that’t not an option for everyone. I just had to share that as a Greek immigrant, I got the Athenos feta crumbles once and the texture was way off and they tasted of feet. So if you think you don’t like feta, maybe try the authentic brined feta and you will be amazed.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh awesome tip! That sounds delish <3

    • ella

I’ll remember to pick up some next time I’m close to a Whole Foods. Thanks!
