Frozen Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter Banana Bites

Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter Banana Bites

yield: 4 SERVINGS

prep time: 15 MINUTES

total time: 15 MINUTES

Ingredients

  • 2-3 bananas, sliced
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter (or any nut butter)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions

1

Spread a small amount of peanut butter between two slices of bananas.

2

Place all of them on a baking sheet that has been covered in parchment paper. Freeze for about an hour. This makes it easier to dip in chocolate.

3

Melt chocolate chips in the microwave, in 15-second increments, taking the bowl of chocolate out to stir each time until melted. Add a tiny splash of vegetable oil if chocolate clumps to smooth it out.

4

Dip one side of each banana bite in chocolate and place back on the parchment paper.

5

Place baking sheet in the freezer until banana bites are completely frozen, and then ENJOY!

6

Store any leftovers in a covered container in the freezer.

What a refreshing treat to make this summer with the kids!

I love how versatile this recipe is. You could even dip these dipped bananas in colorful sprinkles for a festive touch (think birthdays or another fun occasion), or you could dip in rolled or slivered nuts for a different approach. Even coconut would be so delicious.

If you wanted to take this a step further, you could add strawberry or raspberry jam to the peanut butter layer for the full-on PBJ effect for this snack.

Another thing that could be fun is to dip these bananas in white chocolate an then drizzle with dark chocolate. Then do the opposite with other bananas, and you have a beautiful, frozen appetizer for company!

peanut butter chocolate banana bites prepped with peanut butter

These little bites of frozen deliciousness are such a satisfying snack or dessert!

They’re so surprisingly satisfying. I think of them like as similar to having a small bowl of ice cream, but it’s grab-and-go portion-controlled, and so much better! Plus, since I can change up the peanut butter for Nutella or even a different nut butter, I can experiment with different flavors.

Next time I’m going to make a few batches to keep in the freezer, because they went FAST! My family really enjoyed these Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter Banana Bites. I really think your crew will love these, too! Try them for yourself and see! YUM!

Great recipe ! We really like making banana “ice cream sandwiches” … spread peanut butter on two halves of graham cracker, cover one half of the graham cracker with thinly sliced bananas, cover with the other graham cracker and freeze on cookie sheets. Nice and refreshing on a hot day.

How do you keep the bananas from turning brown?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

they do still turn slightly brown, even in the freezer. You could use lemon juice or even vacuum sealing could help. Thx!

      • Gail

Using any soda like Sprite keeps apples from turning. I wonder if it would also work for bananas ?

    • pattricia

quick dip in lemon juice or maybe even apple juice.
      patt

Matthew Bishop an FYI for you – a recipe is a set of instructions for preparing a particular combination of food, including a list of ingredients required. This absolutely is a recipe.

  14. Linda

  16. S. Roberts

I’m going to add some crushed nuts to these banana bites also to see how they taste because my man loves walnuts & cashews. I’ll let you know how it goes……

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh yum!! Great idea ❤️🙌

  17. Ronda Gunter

Sounds so good and SO easy !

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yes! Thanks Ronda!

  18. Erin

How many calories in each bite??

  19. LaVanda

I made these yesterday. Great idea, but…I put them in the freezer before dipping in chocolate. They froze to the plate and I had to scrape (forcefully) them off with a metal spatula. Then after dipping, I put them back in the freezer to set up. But because they were so hard to bite while frozen, I kept them in the refrigerator in a covered container. But then the bananas were all mushy. Kind of a fail for me ☹️

    • Joyce

Next time use parchment paper and let the sit out a couple of minutes so they soften up before eating.

  20. gale

mmm nutella and also rolling in crushed pretzels would be good!!
    YUM!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yum love that idea too!

  21. Elaine

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks so much Elaine! Welcome 🙌

  22. Taru
