Do you love cookie dough more than cookies as dessert?

If so, grab a spoon and let’s go! Today I’m sharing a fun edible cookie dough recipe that can be made in just a few minutes using only 5 ingredients! There are no worries about getting sick from this cookie dough as it’s eggless and has an added step of toasting the flour in the oven to make this both a delicious and safe experience.

Create your own edible sugar cookie dough at home!

We’ve visited a local cookie dough bar business where you can buy a scoop of edible cookie dough with various add-ins and flavors much like an ice cream stand. It’s pretty spendy, so this is a fun way to accomplish a similar idea with your family at home on the cheap. My teenagers loved it!

The result is a smooth and sweet buttery sugar cookie dough with a nice fluffy texture that you can enjoy with sprinkles or any other add-in you’d enjoy! I love this no-bake treat idea for when you want something sweet but don’t want to make a full batch of cookies.

Tips for making the best edible sugar cookie dough:

    • According to CookingLight.com, using toasted flour for creating cookie dough is important because the high heat will kill any lingering bacteria, such as E. coli, making it safe to eat. Before starting, you’ll want to first measure and bake the flour on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 5 minutes.
    • Make sure to follow the recipe steps in their specific order by first mixing together the butter, sugar, and vanilla — it’s a must for this dough. In the first batch, I went out of order and added the flour first and it didn’t work. LOL oops! Also making sure to measure the flour by spooning it into the measuring cup and leveling off, rather than scooping it and packing (just like when baking cookies!).
    • Consider doubling this recipe and then compiling little bowls of treats and add-ins like mini chocolate chips, nuts, chopped candy bars, sprinkles, etc, so each family member can personalize. Each batch makes a little over a cup of dough and would be easy to double or triple.

Everyone knows the cookie dough is the best part of making cookies!

Now you can easily mix up a handful of pantry staples to make some soft sugar cookie dough to enjoy! It’s truly bowl licking good, I promise!

My teammate Jenna made this cookie dough and said:

“Thanks to this recipe, I am the coolest mom in my kids’ eyes! I actually let them eat ‘raw’ cookie dough yesterday! They asked if I was going to make cookies with it, I said ‘nope’, and handed them each a bowl — they freaked! They are always asking to eat cookie dough and we tried the edible stuff from the store, but no one liked it.

This was so perfect, and we all enjoyed the taste and texture. I’m actually planning on making it again tonight since it’s simple to whip up and everyone keeps asking for more!”
